DATE OF VISIT & NUMBER OF NIGHTS: August 3, 2024. Stayed for one night. AMBIANCE & CLEANLINESS: We LOVED the cleanliness of this hotel!!! People had mentioned that they give off a sterile hospital vibe and I like it! No carpet, no curtains, NO ALLERGIES acting up!! This is a very streamlined clean facility. And the overall ambiance is wonderful! They have plenty of seating in the lobby (various types of seating), some games to play for FREE! Complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, and tea 24 hrs a day. FRONT DESK ATTENDANT: She was friendly enough (not overly friendly but nice). ROOM: CLEAN!!! Had LVP flooring, minimal furnishings that have a modern feel. No old nasty curtains! Bathroom was very nice! POOL: Not apply (they don't have a pool). CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST: Yes; scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage (not small links), oatmeal, cereal, toast, bagels, pancakes (toppings), milk, juice (apple & orange juice), coffee, hot chocolate, tea. DOG FRIENDLY: Yes PARKING: Amble amount on private lot. OVERALL THOUGHTS: This is the hotel we will be looking for when we travel! It was a very pleasant stay. WOULD I RETURN? YES!!

Great room, great service. The room is nice and clean, ample places to place your items. Nicely painted and they have two nice outdoor areas to seat one even has a fire pit.

Let's start by saying that we were satisfied with this hotel, and its concept of a simplistic no frills hotel, with all the conveniences that you need. It is in the moderate price range. It's a modern simple type of hotel; it reminds us of the Novotel Hotel in Munich, Germany. The appearance of the hotel on the outside it's simple as well, with an "art deco / disco" look and colors. The lobby it's a big open space that combines the front desk, the breakfast area, and several seating groupings to lounge and play table games (lots of options) or pool. Lots of charging stations all around the lobby. There is also a complimentary 24 hour drink station: Lavazza coffee, hot tea, Monin syrups. By the front desk they have a convenience store, where you can even buy beer or wine bottles, as they do not have a bar. The girls at the front desk were welcoming, and welcomed us with a bag containing bottled water for being Hilton Members. The fitness center is also located on the first floor. Our room was: Simple, with all the conveniences and most important very clean. Lots of light, natural and artificial. Lots of charging ports. Lots of surfaces to place your luggage on and plenty of hooks to hang your belongings /coats. Bed was very comfortable. My favorite part: NO CARPET yet tile floors, the way they do it in Europe (more sanitary and there is no smell that carpet has). The complementary breakfast was your typical self service complementary breakfast, however it was tasty and with lots of options. We were very happy with the hotel and the price ratio, and we now choose Tru every occasion we have!!!

We loved staying here for the price and location. We didn't need to be in the heart of Madison so this was perfect. Free parking and amazing staff! We also were happily surprised by the amazing breakfast spread! The hotel was very clean and we had a great stay. Would definitely stay here again.

This particular Hilton is conveniently located off Highway 12 here in Madison. This hotel is relatively new and probably was just built a couple of years ago. I really like the clean lines of the room as well as the laminate flooring since carpeting can carry all kinds of flora and off putting aromas. The king size bed was comfortable, The sheets and mattress pad were clean and the TV was large. The room does come with a small mini fridge but there is no microwave. The hotel rates definitely vary depending on the time of the year. For example, during my stay I paid $154 a night, however the next week the same room was going for $95. I like the fact that the room has a screen that covers the window that blocks the light out very effectively. The breakfast they serve is definitely better than your average Comfort Inn. The one thing that got my attention was the fact that there is no maid service unless you request it. As a result, after 3 to 4 days I needed new towels and trash removed. All in all it's definitely a hotel that I would stay at again.

This definitely a unique and modern hotel. Let me start with the thing that I didn't like the most - all hard surfaces so the room is very loud (you can hear your footsteps ). Now to the things we liked - definitely colorful, the staff was welcoming and gave us some great tips on where to see a cool sunset, the breakfast area had numerous options, there is a foosball table, pool table, good selections on local food items, and plenty of parking. The rooms are small with a small place to hang clothes. There is squeezable "tubes" in the bathroom for soap & lotion (loved the lemon scent) and the same squeezable tubes for shampoo/conditioner/body wash. The shower is a walk-in shower and not a bathtub. Overall, TRU is a unique part of the Hilton brand. I would look into staying at another one.

I'm a business traveler, and this was my second stay in a Tru property. The little touches created as much "surprise and delight" as they did the first time. I love all the unexpected colors and designs in the decor, and the sense that the design of the hotel wasn't just a copy/paste of the standard arrangement and amenities. Notable features: -Lobby with soundproofed alcoves for semi-private phone calls. -Hot breakfast offerings that included both the familiar and the unique. -Local favorites among the sundry offerings. Crowd-sourced suggestions for nearby places to eat, things to do, etc. -Rooms with open storage so that guests don't accidentally leave any belongings behind. -Wall-mounted dispensers for soap, shampoo, etc. in the rooms, instead of wasteful trial-sized offerings. For families or stays of more than a couple of nights, this may not be the best choice of hotels. But for business travelers like me, this is a real find.

The room was clean and had a rustic modern feel. When the carpet is beige, you know they have to take care of it consistently. Everything had a plush feel. The shower had a rainfall showerhead and a handheld. There's a scent that emanates throughout the hotel and into your room. It's light and adds to the ambiance. It's also in the sheets and linen too. I guess that adds to one of the negatives I list later in that the HVAC seems to be centrally controlled. There was some very minor debris in the sink that may have been left from wiping of a dirty rag, but that was mostly it. Gym was nice and parking was plentiful and free. What I didn't like: - Mini fridge in the room had a lot of snacks and other drinks that I assume were for sale. I usually pack my own food, so those items took up some space in the fridge - I get cold easily, so I try to adjust the thermostat, but it's centrally controlled, which I've never seen... I'm assuming all of the rooms are regulated in this way... - Breakfast bar- had bare minimal which I really don't mind. I really wouldn't expect a place like this to serve you breakfast unless it was full service. Would definitely come back

Also has a mini bar in the room. Only negative point is there was no refrigerator or microwave. Great restaurant located just off the lobby for a fine dining experience. Does not have full breakfast but does have grab and go muffins, fruit, coffee, etc. They also have a rooftop bar where one can sit inside or outside. Full bar with good bartenders. Menu is limited but still plenty to choose from. We had an order of mussels and a charcuterie tray. Both were very good. Our bartender was Colton and he took good care of us.

But their local shuttle came in clutch for the ride there! Didn't love the front desk person with glasses and no name tag talk to us condescendingly about the shuttle for after our show. We weren't demanding it, we were asking what to do about potentially getting it because we didn't know how long the show would be. Aidan at check in was helpful and efficient, though I'm not quite sure what was an "upgrade" about our room. It was certainly nice, but judging from the pictures on the website, definitely still just a "room" and not a "suite," as there was no couch. The decor was very lovely and everything was in excellent condition, too. The bathroom was perfect for two people and the shower was excellent as well. The elevator could be a little slow, so if you can, consider taking the stairs as you'll definitely save some time especially if it's busy. The light up sign as you exited the elevator showing the time of day was very cool and I enjoyed getting to see it lit up in two different combinations. Gym is in great condition and very spacious, too! All in all, a worthy entry in terms of Madison hotels.

Normally it's much more reasonable, though. Parking was a little confusing at first since it's not super clear where to go, but when I called the hotel, the staff was friendly and explained we could park in the garage behind the building for $20 a night through the hotel. Super easy once we found it, and I liked that you can use your key card for in-and-out access. Check-in was smooth and I loved they have a texting option if you need anything during your stay, very convenient! The room itself was clean, fresh, and had a few little surprises. I genuinely thought I was hearing music from the other room when I turned on the shower, but it turns out there's a bar in the shower that plays music when the water hits it, such a relaxing, spa-like touch. The TV even had a personalized welcome screen with my name, and as a rewards member, the late checkout was a super nice perk. The robes were clean, cozy, and perfect for lounging while getting ready. Location-wise, it's perfect! Right downtown and close to plenty of bars, restaurants, the capitol, and the Orpheum Theatre where we were going to. Uber and Lyft were easy to get, but the hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle service within a 3-mile radius, which is such a nice option. We didn't get to use it this time since it was first come, first serve, and even with scheduling the shuttle, timing didn't work out for us with their logistics and the game, but I love that they have it as a complimentary option. Security felt great too, the doors lock after a certain hour and require a key card for entry. In-room amenities were solid: a Nespresso for coffee, a spacious antique-style fridge, and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable! I slept so well. There were a couple minor hiccups, the streaming on the TV had audio issues (the front desk mentioned it's been an ongoing problem), and the small mirror light in the bathroom kept shutting off, but those were easy to overlook. We ended up getting the audio working. Overall, the room was spacious, stylish, and thoughtfully designed, with a separate workspace, a lounging area, and a fun mix of vintage and modern decor. Loved the artwork, neon touches, and overall vibe. It was clean, safe, and full of personality. Definitely a spot I'd stay at again next time I'm in Madison!

This was notably less expensive than the hotels close to the Capitol and not as cheap as the ones a little further out in the suburbs. This hit the sweet spot. Would definitely stay here again. PROS: Super clean and tidy everywhere; Fair value; No charge for parking; Handy free shuttle (that we used to go to Camp Randall for the big grad ceremony); Only a 20 minute walk to Camp Randall; Washer & dryer on several floors which was super helpful when we unexpectedly needed to wash a few things; Front desk staff was super friendly and helpful; Nice modest restaurant inside hotel; Sandwiched next to two busy street and I am a very light sleeper but had no problem w the noise (we were on University St side); Beds were comfortable; Fantastic food; AC wall unit performed just fine; Bathroom was in excellent shape w a shower only; Spectacular lunch place to eat across the street called Pasture and Plenty, what a find! CONS: Shuttle was busy a few times and we didn't want to wait so we grabbed a Lyft (not a big deal); Some of the carpets and furniture were slightly worn but not an issue. My fiance and I stayed in one of…read morethe tranquility rooms for two nights over spring break and I'm really happy we didn't stay any longer. The staff was very friendly, but our visit started off on a concerning note. When we were checking in, the gentleman at the front desk told me that the pool had failed inspection and that there would be another inspection the next day, so hopefully it would be open that afternoon the next day. Already gross if you can't pass inspection and a bad first impression. When we walked down to our room, there were empty Amazon boxes littering common areas. This place could be featured on hotel hell if it was still running/producing seasons. I was really disappointed with our room. I absolutely LOVE the idea of themed rooms, but ours clearly hadn't been serviced in a long time. It smelled horribly musty, the bed was so thin and uncomfortable that we could feel the wood frame underneath, and the bathroom was gross. My back was really sore in the morning, and it was not a good way to start off a day of hiking. The wallpaper was all peeling and it's clear this room hasn't really been updated in a while. We didn't feel comfortable touching the carpet so we wore our crocs the whole time we were there. Breakfast was mediocre at best. The arm of my chair also broke off as I was trying to pull it into the table. The biscuits and gravy were very cafeteria like and I didn't even want to touch the eggs because they came in the weird shaped circles like the kind you get from McDonald's. My stomach felt really bad after eating breakfast both times so l don't recommend eating breakfast, even if it is included. I lived in a dorm for three years at school, so I'm pretty used to less than ideal conditions, but this even grossed me out. It's clear this place has a lot of really cool history, but it reached its peak a long time ago and I'm sad I wasn't able to see it in its prime. I would've loved to come back, but not for $180 dollars a night. Taxes and fees came to nearly $100, so for two nights and three days we payed $464. 400+ dollars and we didn't even feel comfortable taking our shoes off? Not worth it. As much as I love the themed suite ideas, don't waste your money to get terrible food and dirty rundown rooms.

The surge pricing of course is absolutely theough the roof at this time, and this is where I feel this place dropped the ball. When I arrived, they somehow "lost" my original reservation and created a new one instead -- resulting in me being charged twice. I provided proof of both charges and attempted multiple times to resolve the issue professionally, but the staff and management were dismissive from the start. The manager was incredibly rude, refused to actually listen to the situation, repeatedly implied I was lying, and showed zero interest in helping fix a mistake their hotel created. Rather than taking accountability or even attempting to investigate the duplicate charge properly, I was met with hostility and disrespect throughout the entire conversation. To make matters worse, Expedia even reached out to the hotel on my behalf to help resolve the duplicate charge, and they still refused to issue a refund. Despite clear documentation and third-party involvement, the hotel continued denying responsibility and offered absolutely no solution. I have never experienced such poor treatment from a hotel, especially over an issue that was clearly caused by their own reservation system and staff errors. Between the lack of upkeep, disorganized operations, terrible communication, and unbelievably unprofessional management, I would strongly advise others to stay elsewhere. There are far too many hotels that actually value their guests, treat people with respect, and take responsibility when mistakes happen.
