My partner and I recently spent a night here and this hotel is amazing. The rates were great, incidental charge was $20 dollars and I got it back as soon as I left, unlike other hotels where it took days to return. I absolutely love the design of this hotel. The lobby would have to be my favorite part. It features a 24-7 self serve coffee and tea station, amenities like a fun recreation room with a pool table, foosball table, table games, tables, couches, nooks to just read or relax, a snack shop around the front entrance check in where they sell all kinds of snacks and drinks, free water and ice station, fitness center. The breakfast was amazing it had a pancake machine, cereal station, fountain juice station, bagel station, hot breakfast station with eggs and sausage, condiments, yogurt. We really enjoyed our stay this week and I highly recommend TRU by Hilton Madison West. Great ambiance and vibes. read more

The is a really nice hotel about one mile off the highway. You don't hear any traffic outside or inside the hotel. The location is unique. It is a mixture of hotels and what looks like condos/townhomes. There are restaurants all around. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The room was very clean and quiet. The hotel is decorated eclectic. The free breakfast is probably one of the best hotel breakfasts I have had. A robot pancake maker with all kinds of toppings. Even though the eggs aren't real, they were good. The maple smoked sausage, yummy! They also have the usual bagels, toast, oatmeal, juice, coffee, etc. They offer a big selection of snacks, drinks, and food for purchase. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Came here for a sister weekend. Hotel staff were great. This is our 2nd time staying at a Tru and they are very simple but modern and still have everything you need. The only reason why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were still hairs spread out in the shower from a guest before us which leads me to believe the shower and bathroom were not cleaned very well. They provided a continental breakfast and coffee and tea 24hrs. There was also a pool table and foosball table in the lobby. read more

I echo a couple of other reviews about issues with the reservations team/system. If you are looking for Corporate bookings, DO NOT book here. The Credit Authorization doesn't work and they will double charge you for a booking (Same name, same dates, same # of guests) and refuse to provide a refund even when you provide the booking confirmation AND the credit authorization as evidence. The hotel will use a credit authorization for a completely separate booking without consulting you. AVOID if you are a corporate booking and go elsewhere. Extremely poor follow up and service. read more

Let's start by saying that we were satisfied with this hotel, and its concept of a simplistic no frills hotel, with all the conveniences that you need. It is in the moderate price range. It's a modern simple type of hotel; it reminds us of the Novotel Hotel in Munich, Germany. The appearance of the hotel on the outside it's simple as well, with an "art deco / disco" look and colors. The lobby it's a big open space that combines the front desk, the breakfast area, and several seating groupings to lounge and play table games (lots of options) or pool. Lots of charging stations all around the lobby. There is also a complimentary 24 hour drink station: Lavazza coffee, hot tea, Monin syrups. By the front desk they have a convenience store, where you can even buy beer or wine bottles, as they do not have a bar. The girls at the front desk were welcoming, and welcomed us with a bag containing bottled water for being Hilton Members. The fitness center is also located on the first floor. Our room was: Simple, with all the conveniences and most important very clean. Lots of light, natural and artificial. Lots of charging ports. Lots of surfaces to place your luggage on and plenty of hooks to hang your belongings /coats. Bed was very comfortable. My favorite part: NO CARPET yet tile floors, the way they do it in Europe (more sanitary and there is no smell that carpet has). The complementary breakfast was your typical self service complementary breakfast, however it was tasty and with lots of options. We were very happy with the hotel and the price ratio, and we now choose Tru every occasion we have!!! read more

This particular Hilton is conveniently located off Highway 12 here in Madison. This hotel is relatively new and probably was just built a couple of years ago. I really like the clean lines of the room as well as the laminate flooring since carpeting can carry all kinds of flora and off putting aromas. The king size bed was comfortable, The sheets and mattress pad were clean and the TV was large. The room does come with a small mini fridge but there is no microwave. The hotel rates definitely vary depending on the time of the year. For example, during my stay I paid $154 a night, however the next week the same room was going for $95. I like the fact that the room has a screen that covers the window that blocks the light out very effectively. The breakfast they serve is definitely better than your average Comfort Inn. The one thing that got my attention was the fact that there is no maid service unless you request it. As a result, after 3 to 4 days I needed new towels and trash removed. All in all it's definitely a hotel that I would stay at again. read more

Do not trust reservations. I've had several poor experiences with the front desk telling me day use reservations don't exist, then being moved to rooms without the amenities I reserved. Today, she (same girl all but 1 time) told me yes, they have my reservation but no rooms were available to honor it. When I offered to stay and wait in the lobby for one, I was told there were no cleaning staff in the hotel and there was no way to know if one would become available. We left, and this afternoon I called the Operations Manager (after the gentleman at the desk tried to say no management was working at all today). She claims this will be addressed, and promised a document stating what the front desk Stagg is supposed to do for my reference and to show if I have further issues. We will see if she follows through. Regardless, do not asse that just because you have reserved a room with Hilton, it means you will have a place to stay (especially Tru). Update 6/13/2023 Now they have blocked day use reservations entirely for at least 3 months. Given that definition of customer service (ie, remove desired options), don't waste your time even loading the app. read more

This definitely a unique and modern hotel. Let me start with the thing that I didn't like the most - all hard surfaces so the room is very loud (you can hear your footsteps ). Now to the things we liked - definitely colorful, the staff was welcoming and gave us some great tips on where to see a cool sunset, the breakfast area had numerous options, there is a foosball table, pool table, good selections on local food items, and plenty of parking. The rooms are small with a small place to hang clothes. There is squeezable "tubes" in the bathroom for soap & lotion (loved the lemon scent) and the same squeezable tubes for shampoo/conditioner/body wash. The shower is a walk-in shower and not a bathtub. Overall, TRU is a unique part of the Hilton brand. I would look into staying at another one. read more

I'm a business traveler, and this was my second stay in a Tru property. The little touches created as much "surprise and delight" as they did the first time. I love all the unexpected colors and designs in the decor, and the sense that the design of the hotel wasn't just a copy/paste of the standard arrangement and amenities. Notable features: -Lobby with soundproofed alcoves for semi-private phone calls. -Hot breakfast offerings that included both the familiar and the unique. -Local favorites among the sundry offerings. Crowd-sourced suggestions for nearby places to eat, things to do, etc. -Rooms with open storage so that guests don't accidentally leave any belongings behind. -Wall-mounted dispensers for soap, shampoo, etc. in the rooms, instead of wasteful trial-sized offerings. For families or stays of more than a couple of nights, this may not be the best choice of hotels. But for business travelers like me, this is a real find. read more

This hotel is top notch in its determination to provide both clean pleasant accommodations, professional & knowledgeable staff, & value for money spent. The mattress was FIRM, the room impeccably clean & stylish, plenty of towels & fresh lemon grass body soaps, lotions, & shampoos. The lobby was showcasing a great variety of complimentary Lavazza coffee & a fantastic complimentary breakfast. The hotel does not have a pool & hot tub and that's fantastic because pools & hot tubs attract tons of screaming undisciplined children so I really loved the quiet serenity. Parking was plentiful & they didn't grill me for my car license plate number as hotels do. The surrounding area is very nice & quiet, no traffic noises invading the room. The room attendants did not knock on our door trying to pry us out before the posted check out time of 12:00pm. The shower was a stand up shower with out the bathtub getting in the way. Annoyingly ... I HAVE NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT!!! The hotel nailed every category with top scores. The scrambled eggs tasted real, the breakfast sausage was delicious, the bread, muffin & glutton free selection was over the top. I was pleasantly surprised by this lovely, minimalist hotel with a Danish feel and European vibe! My room was on the first floor, close to the gym and lobby but I couldn't tell. The window coverings served as wall decoration and were fitted well enough so that no light disturbed me. This is critical if you are one of those people who are sensitive to daylight and enjoy sleeping past sunrise! The GM, Chris, was very professional, helpful and shared lots of useful information including how becoming a Hilton Honors member would benefit me. Other staff were also helpful and friendly. There was a minor cleaning issue that was resolved almost immediately. The gym has 2 treadmills, an elliptical and weights. My son and I enjoyed our workout there. The lobby is spacious, colorful and very clean. The breakfasts had a decent selection and it was nice to sit in one of the cozy lobby areas. As a frequent-ish visitor to Madison (10 times in the last 6 years - #epicanalyst), I went out on a limb and tried a new hotel. And by new, I mean pretty much brand-spanking! This hotel opened in April 2018, and you would have thought it had only been open for a month. Reception and breakfast area are full of snacks and beverages for purchase, games, microwaves and coffee, tea, flavored syrups... and games and quiet study spaces! I had a king room on the 4th floor... loved the space, super effective AC (it is hot for WI this week!), and the wall mounted hand soap, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash - all by Not Soap Radio - so nice! Oh and a sample bag is available for sale at reception! Some FYIs... this is a simplistic hotel. My bed was not made today, although my towels were replenished/folded. Sundries are only provided upon request. TV is awesome, as is WiFi, but coffee/tea is all in the lobby area. Ice machines are on each floor, but only plastic one-time use buckets are available. Secret hint: if you need additional paper cups, swing by the gym area and grab a few. Great place and I will make this my go-to! read more

Pretty cool little concept, the Tru brand mixes modernization with the classic comfort and quality of the Hilton brand. Walking in you will immediately notice the vibrant colors, open bar checkin and even a common area to gather and play games. I was impressed with my stay here, instead of looking outside for a place to gather and have drinks, my group was able to come back here and hang out. Staff was super helpful and friendly and even gave us insight on where the Tru brand was headed as along with its current outreach of 90+ locations in 33 different states. Despite the rooms being a little small, this concept is awesome and will hopefully exceed company projections. Pro tip: This location had to get special permission to replace the football table with an ice hockey version and it rules!!!! Score on your opponent to see an instant replay. read more

I wasn't sure if I would like the "Tru" concept... while I do try to travel economically when traveling on business, I still wasn't sure of the "low cost" or "simple" nature of the Tru chain. That said, I was quite pleased. The front desk staff was very welcoming, and I really appreciated the snack selection available for purchase right near the front desk (vs. hidden away in a dark closet-type space). My room was modern, neat, and clean.... and I must say "neat." I appreciated the approach to soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel in the wall-mounted containers vs. the wasteful and smaller one-time use types that you find at most hotels. Notes on Tru The room is cold, sterile, and uninviting. The decor is cold and uninviting. There is no desk space. There are liquid tube soap dispensers mounted on the bathroom walls and in the shower, rather than individual shampoo and bars of soap. There is no closet space ...only hangers hanging on a bar in the middle of the room. There are no extra blankets, no coffee maker. Even the slab floor is cold and uninviting. The bathroom has no fan ventilation, and the drain in the shower smelled terrible!! The ice buckets in this hotel are all "one use" disposable plastic containers (that you need to go all the way down to the lobby to get!) A complete waste of resources! And the room rate is even more than a normal Hilton would be! The walls between the rooms are not well soundproofed and conversations can be heard in the room next-door. I definitely will never stay in this hotel brand ever again! read more

This is my first and last stay at the Tru brand hotels. Was looking forward to the experience but it turned into a bunch of "no's" - no shuttle service for local drop offs or airport, no daily house keeping or towel service, unless requested, no safe for valuables, no loaner umbrella during rain, no pool/hot tub, no attention to towel cleanliness (beige/dingy). The breakfast that they tout as signature is on par with other hotel chains. I TRU-ly believe there are better options and will use them next time. read more

No coffee in room, no coffee in lobby if you're an early bird. I travel alot for work and this was the first hotel with no coffee in room or lobby. The employee who checked me in kept telling me I'm sharing a room when I had my own confirmation. She didn't know what she was talking about. I had to go grab my employer to show her 2 confirmation numbers...why she couldn't find it was beyond annoying and inconvenient. No bedside lamps, no desk in room to do work. This hotel is so awesome! I will definitely stay here when traveling to Wisconsin for business. It is new, modern, and clean! The bright decor and furniture is refreshing and keeps the room light and airy feeling. The 24 hour store to buy anything you might need is really nice to have, this includes water, coconut water, other beverages, snacks etc. Also, the daily breakfast is basic, but a welcomed touch. The beds are comfortable, the work spaces downstairs are awesome, the gym looked nice although I didn't use it. The staff is also extremely friendly. Also, for those saying there's no desk space, a pretty decent size desk rolls out from under the TV stand. Sit on the bed and use it, or the chair, it's quite comfortable and spacious... Good location, friendly staff, very clean. I've been Diamond for decades with this chain and have stayed at hundreds of various properties all over the world. Not sure I am crazy about this new Tru bran concept. I've stayed in a couple so far. They are going for this very contemporary look in the rooms, hardwood floors I am not wild about and they offer this social area with games and couches in the lobby with a big selection of snacks and drinks to buy. But the room had a enormous TV and a comfy bed. Could use larger night stands with more power outlets and light switches near both sides of the bed. read more

Big Bear Hockey Tournaments assigned is this hotel. While it's newer and very modern, it lacks one essential for a "kids weekend", a pool! It's also very very loud. We could hear every step from the people upstairs and in the hall. If you plan on having more than 2 people in the room, consider booking a second. Extremely small. Once we were all in, there was a path to walk around. The breakfast was adequate, but it's free, so no complaints. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall cleanliness was good too. Bed was good. The bathrooms had squeeze bottles for soap and shampoo on the walls. While I'm sure that's costs effective, it's not user friendly. I'm sure this is a great place for travelers and a quick stay, but not for a family trip. read more

What is this place? Way too modern for me. Didn't not like it at all. Felt cheap, like they got everything including styling ideas from Ikea. Only stayed for one night and can't imagine staying for more. Room was too small and too crowded. Didn't care for the soap dispensers at all. Liked the concept, but I felt like I needed to squeeze with all my might to get anything out. Breakfast was good. The hotel is designed for children, narrow cramped hallways, management is rude, your room does not come with a closet or a dresser so get ready to put your stuff on the floor. There is no where to put your computer unless you want it on the bed where it will over heat. Very colorful hotel, with the lobby being so tight with the receptionist, the area that they call breakfast, and various arcade games meant for children. I asked if i could get a room with a desk to work at, and they said that they prefer people to work in the lobby. Again don't go hear unless you have kids, there is so many properties in the area that provide better service, better quality rooms, moved over to the Hilton Garden Inn and couldn't be more happier!!! read more

My kids thought this was the best hotel they'd ever stayed at. I've stayed at a lot of Hilton properties and I would have to say that outside some of the great locations around the country, Hilton has really done a good job on this format.
