Showed up 20 minutes early for a 9:30 appointment. As it approached 10am I told the receptionist I need to reschedule since they were unable to make their commitment of the time I scheduled. Next availability was over a month out. So I walked out since they are unwilling to keep to a schedule. Pretty unprofessional. I had made an appointment about a month in advance, however, someone from the office did not call me until the day of and 45 minutes prior to my appointment to let me know that my insurance needed a referral or else I had to pay out of pocket. Unfortunately, I was already en route to the appointment when they noticed the issue with my insurance and had taken the morning off from work. Since I booked so far out, I was very frustrated that they did not notice this issue until less than an hour before the appointment. The receptionist assured me that they had already contacted my primary to start the referral process and specifically stated that they had reached out several days ago, however, when I contacted my primary doctor they let me know they had not received any communication from this practice regarding a referral. Someone from Tru-Skin also emailed me about a week and a half after my initial appointment was cancelled to ask me for the name and contact information for my primary so that they could reach out for a referral. I had originally rescheduled my initial new patient appointment, but I called to cancel after so many things were mismanaged and incorrect information was given to me several times regarding our roles in the referral process. When I called to cancel, the automatic phone system said that I could stay on the line after the call to complete a survey, however, after the receptionist ended the call there was no survey provided, so I had to come to Yelp to share my negative experience. read more

You better make an appointment for each issue separately because these PAs have 0% interest in talking about more than 1 issue each appointment. This was my second time here, they bring you back to the room late and then make you feel bad for having more than one question. Never felt such neglect from someone I am visiting to seek help from in my life. It's a "shew fly" situation. Be better. Listen to your patients. This place has gone downhill!!! They don't even deserve 1 star. For real. I've been a patient with Tru Skin for about 9 years. What in the world has happened that has taken this dermatologist practice from great/ satisfactory to the absolute worst. What has changed from 2015-2022? Some examples. Their phone system is confusing and irritating and trying to actually talk to one of their specific locations involves multiple attempts and being hung up on/disconnected. All calls go through an answering service. When asked to be transferred to an office it usually ends up disconnected. Drs and PAs spend less than 2-3 minutes in a room with you. They don't listen to you. Act like they don't care at ALL. Act like they don't want to be in their jobs. I guess Truskin corporate is so bad they hate their jobs now and it shows. Drs spend zero time with you. Throw samples at you to get you out the door. I had to ask for a bandaid for a bleeding painful wound and it was basically tossed to me. Zero freaking care or effort. Nurses - VERY unhappy, not smiling, rude, not caring whatsoever. Snarky, better than thou attitude. The level of care has decreased shockingly over the last 2-3 years here. It is concerning because people are trusting them with their lives. And these people do not care at all. They seem extremely miserable and overbooked with a quota of how many patients they have to care for an hour. Gave some excuse of not being able to perform what was needed because they needed to ask insurance and that would be 2-3 weeks. The front desk at one of the locations mentioned that one PA had 58 patients yesterday. Obviously the great doctors this practice used to have left. Thankfully they are still in business and were easy to find. Seems like the good ones don't want to work for Truskin and the ones remaining don't want to be there either based on their bad attitudes and poor care. read more

The wait time for sitting in the lobby was 25mins. I noticed patients arrived after me and got taken back before me. I asked the front desk receptionist if I needed to reschedule due to the wait time. She stated two more people were in front of me and the typical appointment times are 15mins. I have been brought back finally to the exam rooms and in the hallway I can hear the healthcare provider state she is going to be in a different exam room first...it's 45 mins past my appointment time and the only person that has seen me was the assistant who asked me for my patient info and updated notes on the tablet. I for sure would look for another dermatologist/clinic that values patients time and can be prompt. I do not foresee myself attending this clinic again. read more

I'm extremely livid with non-punctual and unprofessionalism of a certain dermatologist. I was scheduled to do a tele-health visit and my appointment had come and gone. I waited 15 minutes and no one ever reached out to me or anything. I even sent a message in the Klara app, as well as send the front desk girl a email and got nothing. I had stepped away from work for this appointment that didn't happen, so of course I was livid. So I get back to working 15 minutes later or so bam I get FaceTimed 4 times for the appt. I kept denying the calls since I'm working. I called TruSkin and explained to them the issue. I get we all are busy, but I have a life just like you. No one had the decency to even reach out to let me know my appt would be delayed. Because of this I will no longer be seeing that particular dermatologist. Ridiculous! Not even an apology for being late! But let the patient be late ha! Never again will I do business with that Dermatologist! read more

My condition had been misdiagnosed by other doctors in the past or ignored by others but she knew exactly what was going on. I found her to be very caring and interested in knowing about me. She listens!!!!! She wasn't constrained by time as others have been. As a "senior citizen", it was important to me that she actually heard me and responded with pertinent details/information. They were ridiculous. I came for a check up, and told them about a few issues and they told me they weren't even going to check my other issues, only my scalp. They gave me an injection, but didnt give me the details. The doctor kind of shamed me for my skin issues and rushed me out, my parents were furious about how i was treated at this practice. I can't say enough great things about Stephanie Bui Catuogno, PA! She's very knowledgeable, professional, and super friendly. I tend to ask a lot of questions but she was very thorough and listened to all my concerns. I wanted her to take a look at a mole-like bump on my face. I was a little nervous since it was so close to my eyes, but Stephanie took the utmost care to make the removal as painless as possible. The front desk and assistants are very friendly and made me feel right at home. The office is also clean and modern so it made the minimal wait time even more enjoyablr. Absolutely AVOID this Dermotologist!! I went in for a consult and visit with Nicole Petro. I should have known to leave as soon as I got to the exam room as the assistant checking my vitals told me if I wanted to have my hair loss properly addressed to go see the Doctor that just left this practice in Cedar Park and go see him in Liberty Hill. The assistant was not a fan of Dr. Petro. Dr. Petro recommended 50mg of spironolactone. Again, I was seeing this dermatologist for hair loss. After taking the spironolactone for a week my hair began to fall out EVEN WORSE!!! One of the side effects of this medicine is hair loss!!! Ugh To add insult to injury my 15 minute visit cost $244.37. I called the office to verify charges. "If I was cash pay" my visit would have cost $140. Due to my insurance Tru Skin charged me 100 more!!! After speaking with the office in Cedar Park the conversation went nowhere. DO NOT USE THIS DERMOTOLOGIST Awful read more

I cannot overstate how lucky I am to have found Stephanie Bui Catuogno, PA! If you are thinking about improving your skin in any way, you MUST book an appointment with her. I have acne scars and was told they'd never go away, even with lasers - and in 3 sessions, Stephanie used a TCA peel and my skin has never looked better. I am amazed and so grateful. Not only is Stephanie super friendly and an expert with skin, every service is VERY reasonable (peels are like $50) and she will give you samples to help you find products that work for you. Justine, her assistant is always friendly and they show you your progress through photos at each visit. Before Stephanie, I was throwing money away at Sephora, and now I just get prescriptions that actually work, for a FRACTION of the cost. I travel 30 minutes to see her, and it is worth it. The cost of a visit (especially if you have insurance) and an in-office treatment is less money than a retinol cream from Sephora. Do yourself a huuuuge favor and go see her ASAP!!!! read more

I am a regular patient here and I have received excellent care since the moment I stepped in the clinic. Stephany has really helped me manage my rosacea and my skin issues. She's quick, knowledgeable and very efficient. Last week, Stephany worked alongside a super friendly and helpful PA Katelyn who went out of her way to ensure I had samples to this great cream that helps my condition (I saved $$ with these samples, yey). I appreciated how they tag teamed my session answering my questions and treating my concerns. Tru-Skin is a business not a healthcare clinic. Their staff is good but their billing practices should keep you far away. Yes, I understand it's technically the patients responsibility to question EVERYTHING but I'm out $363 after insurance for what could have cost $5 at CVS. I was overdue for my annual skin screen and had a day off and was thrilled to get a same-day appointment with Tru-Skin. I filled out the mountain of forms every doctor requires, showed up to their clean offices and was promptly attended to. The office was clean and the staff was nice. My physician Miss Gathright was very professional and thorough and at this point the review would have been at 5 stars. As she scanned my body she saw a little dry patch and suggested we "freeze" it. Ok, I obliged, you're the Dr! A little squirt of liquid nitrogen and 5 seconds later it was over. She found a second dry spot on my forehead and recommended we freeze it too. Ok, I've never had this done in any previous appointments elsewhere but sure. When the appointment wrapped up they told me my total due was $363 and made me pay up front. They have since billed my insurance $680 in charges (luckily my total is slightly less). Because the $5 retail-value freeze treatment was applied to my skin, I was charged a new doctor's appointment $259 ($100+ out of pocket for deductible) instead of $0 for annual cancer screen. Additionally there were over $400 in charges for non-cancerous growth (how do they know if they didn't biopsy) and abnormal skin removal? I've pleaded with the billing department to reconsider these charges but they're unwavering - they actually laughed at the ridiculousness of it all (I think they were being empathetic?). Do yourself a favor and find a more ethical billing practice. read more

I decided against becoming a patient.. Better to cut by a reputable Dr. & trustworthy office than use a skill-required, non-surgical method with your patient-risky$$ admin. problems . Ok feature this, I have a rash that would require me to open my private area for inspection. After learning I would be seen by a female PA my modesty meter pegged out, I tell myself get a grip hell I'm a NY Sicilian and faced many embarrassing situations, however, as long as the Doc is older, unattractive and alone I can hack it. I hear a knock the door opens and here come, three women, young and very attractive and me in a plastic thing ready for inspection, crap, I'm stuck and exposed and felt like a guy who just got out of the pool but, I'm reassured by Amanda my PA that she has seen just about everything and puts me at ease and did more for me than any other Doctor of Dermatology, ever did; her professionalism, knowledge, and advice was extraordinary any man or woman would benefit greatly from her expertise and care. Tru-skin Dermatology over-book their dermatologist. Thus, providing poor care and service. Furthermore, this company has poorly, trained dermatologist that perform various procedures that are rushed and hurried which they not specialized in. I came in for Platelet Rich Plasma 3 month follow-up for an alopecia condition, following an initial series of 4 injections over 4 months. However, the trained and skilled medical doctor in this area of expertise was no longer available and no longer worked with this company. Therefore, I was referred to Stephanie Bui Catuogno, PA-C who recommended steroid shots, I had never worked with her in this capacity for hair loss treatment but she stated she does perform the injections. I conducted 3 series of steroid injections over 3 months with Dr. Stephanie. During the final visit in September 2022 we did a double dose because she would be out of the net for maternity leave until January 2023. This last dose caused severe headaches, pain, tenderness, and itching. Around November 2022 I noticed dents and bald spots where she injected the steroid. Dr. Stephanie injected the dose too deeply into the scalp and administered too much of the medication at the sites--causing hair loss. I have over a dozen dime-sized bald spots with dents and no signs of hairs in the spots-- accompanied by shedding and inflammation. I have been on this journey over a year to regrow my hair with medical intervention and meeting this Physician Assistant has destroyed the improvements that I was experiencing. In a little over a year my alopecia had regressed and my hair follicles were rejuvenated. I wanted to continue treatment so I could continue growth and rejuvenation. A properly, trained dermatologist in the area of hair loss would know how to properly administer this medication in order to mitigate hair loss from a shot that is suppose to encourage growth. I would not recommend this company or their physicians to anyone. Find a physician that is specifically trained in your dermatology needs and takes the time for your case. The appointment with Dr. Stephanie felt rushed and impersonal and the lobby was not full--just herding cattle. So there is no excuse for poor, care, and training. I will never return to this clinic. Currently, I am working with Dr. Carlo Gavino at his privately owned dermatology facility in Liberty Hill. He has worked aggressively to reverse my recent hair loss and set back to my journey with the latest technology in Platelet Rich Plasma, oral and topical medication. He is amazing in the specialty of hair loss. Find a cared and trained doctor for your dermatology needs. read more

I saw Stephanie Bui Catuogno at her previous practice, and I took my son to her. She was able to help me with a recurring allergic skin reaction that I had been having, and on top of that she got me started on treatment for my melasma (dark spots) on my face, and retinoid preventive treatment. When my son contracted molluscum, she knew exactly what to do--after he had been suffering with it for over six months. Her treatments got it under control and eventually resolved, when the pediatrician had said we would just have to wait it out. I was so glad for her experience working in pediatric skin care, as well as her proficiency with my own. read more

I've seen several other dermatologist, from places like Westlake Dermatology, but no one can hold a candle to Mrs. Bui-Catuogno. Mrs. Bui-Catuogno is not only very thorough in her service, she also respects that you work hard for your money; she goes out of her way to ensure she prescribes items you can afford. Unlike most places (cough, Westlake) broke the bank. Mrs. Bui-Catuogno cares about creating a skincare regime that's effective and affordable, whereas other Dermatologist can't get me out of the room fast enough! There's been several times she's found prescriptions that were 100% covered, or close to it. I honestly couldn't believe it, Westlake was dropping prescriptions that were $100s of dollars. It's not only that she works with your insurance, she more importantly truly cares to give your the service you deserve. She takes the time to do body scans, walk through your regime, makes recommendations for better skincare, walks through tips and tricks of the trade, and while being so pleasant. Her bedside manner is wonderful, you leave feeling like you just visited a friend. Beyond that, her staff is welcoming, and very helpful. I've have been to 4 different Dermatologist in the past several years, without a doubt, Stephaine Bui is the gold standard. I will follow her all over central Texas. I asked the girl who answered if I can schedule an appointment for an exam. She asked my date of birth, and then asked me to hold. I stayed on the phone on hold for over 20 minutes before hanging up. DO NOT GO HERE. I've had bad experiences in the past with doctors offices so I am extra careful now making sure I know exactly what is being done and what my patient responsibility is financially. Every time I came here, I made sure to ask EVERY TIME exactly what was being done and what my financial responsibility was. Before getting a biopsy done, I made it clear that I didn't want to do it unless I knew exactly how much it would cost me. I was told my portion based off my insurance was $181.40, which I confirmed with my insurance. I got the procedure done and not only could the doctor still not figure out what was wrong with me, a month later I started getting bills sent to my house. Never had anyone call me telling me I owed money and why, just sending threatening bills to my house. When I called to talk to a billing representative, they told me that like I should have been explained (which I never was) they can't control what tests the lab decides to run and since they ran a bunch of additional tests (which I never consented to), that's why I owed an ADDITIONAL $400 (on top of the $181 I already paid). When explained that this was exactly what I tried to prevent and that I did not give my consent for those additional tests, they told me I signed a document agreeing to this. Now this really made me mad. The only signatures I gave to this office was to a digital signature pad with no screen or paper in front of me because I was told I was signing for my receipt. Who knows what they actually had me sign for. At the end of the day not only did they do wrong, but even after they got caught and I called them out for doing wrong, they didn't care and still said I can pay the bill or be sent to collections. I hate the fact that this can affect my credit, but I absolutely refuse to pay anything additional. Places like this make me sick to my stomach and what they do should be illegal and they should be shut down. On top of all of the frustration and problems this place has caused me, I still have no idea what is wrong with me clinically. Whatever it is I can only hope it's nothing serious because sadly I'd rather have a serious skin disease than to have to go through an ordeal like this ever again **UPDATE** They have in fact sent me to collections for charges they never explained to me and I never consented to. I now have debt collectors calling me 2-3 times a day. And now I have to decide if I want to stick to my principals and what's right, or risk it affecting my credit for the rest of my adult life. Showed up for a follow-up appointment. Due to Covid you can't wait inside, so I called the number I was instructed to call to let them know I was there. I got voicemail. I left a message stating I was in the parking lot. A few minutes go by and I decide to send a text to "klara" letting them know I was in the parking lot. I get an auto-message saying someone will be in contact soon. 30 minutes go by and I get a call from Tru-Skin asking me if I forgot my appointment. I say yeah, I know I've been in the parking lot for 30 minutes now. I go ahead and go in. Then I sit for another 30 minutes. I have a meeting I have to go to so I say I will reschedule. Both of the women working there sort of shrug and I leave. No "Sorry we missed your text and phone call" just a shrug. I won't be back. read more

In May, I was told I have some bad skin cells on my arm and could elect to have it cut out or have their radiation treatments for 20 sessions. Since I was tired of being cut on and scars being left on my body after the surgeries, I elected to have the 20 radiation sessions. After the last session, I was sent home with bandages and cream to dress the red area. After a few days, my radiation area started looking enflamed and I returned to the whitestone location to see the nurse practitioner who immediately started yelling at me asking me what I did to the radiated area. I told her I followed their instructions in dressing the wound. She kept questioning me making it look like my fault that it was enflamed. To this date, I have never received an apology from Tru-skin for her accusations. So to make a long story short, it took two months for the wound to heal and in that time, I had two doctors tell me it looked like a bad burn. However, have not received a reason for the burn from Truskin. I have a big scar on my arm and a lot of wasted trips to Truskin. Think twice before letting them use radiation on you. read more
