A call to PATS (though disconnected twice; apparently the shuttle service is new, and few ask to go out to Benton Highway as I did) got me setup for the nearly one hour ride... for $20. A bargain! My driver was fantastic, and when I'd commented on the price he mentioned the service is starting up (which in my mind, translated out to be things would cost more as the kinks work out -- though aside from the disconnected calls, there were none). The driver picked me up at the Paducah airport (and arrived 15 minutes earlier than I'd requested, even better as it was a no-hassle walk from the plane to the front door), and about 60 minutes later I was at my destination. My children treated me to a winery tour for my 75th birthday on Saturday, June 18th. We used this…read moreservice. It was as good as it could get! Fred was our host and driver. He came on time to pick up us. We weren't quite ready, but he waited patiently. There were 7 of us. We rode in the immaculate white Explorer. We were a little cozy, but it was fine. Fred was very accommodating, flexible, friendly, helpful and kind. One of my grandsons is handicapped and he was very helpful with him. Let him ride in the front with him and helped with his walker. We were allowed to bring snacks and water which we indulged in between stops. He dropped us off at the door and we did not see him again until it was time to move on to the next stop. One of the wineries was closed for a wedding so he substituted another winery on the opposite side of the tour we were doing, but were interested in because the winery has a store in our town that we go to often. We had a great time! If you are in doubt, go for it. We met his wife, Heidi, at one of the stops and I am sure she would be just as good.

In the office is a gift shop and store where you can pet on their sweet golden retriever , Sophie. There's a fenced in pool, pavilion, and laundry room with games, puzzles, and books. The grounds are immaculately clean and well maintained. During the week it's very quiet and peaceful, then on the weekends it fills up with families. Despite this, it was never loud! It's located less than 5 minutes from Lake Barkley, about 1-2 minutes from a gas station and Dollar General, and 15-17 minutes from Walmart. Lots of things to do in that area. We were sad to leave but look forward to visiting again. I will be recommending this RV resort to anyone who will listen!

She got all of our info and told us which site we'd be in. We didn't have to give a credit card to hold the spot and when we got there, our reserve tag was on the site (site 15). She emailed me a site map so we'd know where to go. When she said it was right off the highway and behind the Marathon Station and Motel 6, I started to wonder. But she also said they were in a valley to where you couldn't hear highway noise. We finally got there and it was nice. Literally right off the highway. We took the first right after the Marathon Station and drove down into the campground (which is the only thing down the road). So truly, you could barely see the sign from the Marathon. From my window I can see the motel 6 at the top of the hill (and it looks like a nice one). It's a quaint little campground, only about 30 sites. The owners want to build a bath house and laundry facility. The roads are gravel but the sites are all concrete with a gravel approach pad. There is a dump station as well as firepits and picnic tables at most sites. But, I liked the fact that they are right next to the Livingston Trail system. The gate was closed but my dog and I could get thru/under it. Did I mention it was fall, so the leaves were beautiful. All in all this was a great little place to spend the night. It was quiet and felt very safe to us. If I had things to do in the area, I would definitely stay here for the value. We were in a 43 foot motor home with a tow vehicle and didn't have to unhook.

We were in Paducah to attend the 2026 Quilt show. The reservation process was simple, affordable,…read moreand completed several months in advance. Check-in was efficient, and the staff was exceptionally helpful. Throughout our stay, we experienced no issues with the water supply, electrical, or sewage systems. Our pull-through site accommodated our 35-foot trailer without difficulty. While the Wi-Fi, as is common in RV parks, was not optimal for streaming, it was sufficient for basic phone and tablet use. The water had a noticeable chlorine taste, but our in-line filter and Brita pitcher resolved this. Paducah was conveniently located, offering a wider selection of stores and restaurants than anticipated. The campground offered various activities during our visit. Each morning, a vendor sold fresh baked goods, jams, and jellies, which we found to be very good. Mark Cope provided a BBQ wagon, and his BBQ and potato salad were also excellent. The park also hosted an ice cream social and a wine tasting by "Purple Toad Winery," a family-owned winery in Paducah, KY. There is a lake on-site where fishing is available, and bait is sold. We will certainly choose Fern Lake Campground for our next visit.

Drive through the park on the one lane, one way paved 3 mile loop in about 15-20 minutes and saw nothing. Saw dark clouds coming in and it started to sprinkle so we turned to take another loop and saw some elk, male and female, as well as turkeys. It was only $5, and I'll come back again to show my kids and anyone that comes to visit me, but I'lll make sure to visit at either dusk or dawn.

I had good rest from my travel and extended my stay, even, and later stayed one more time. There were trails/roads to walk on without driving, walking there right outside of the campground. Overall great experience, hope to stay away whenever I end up traveling this way.
