I borrowed a diesel pickup to bring a new-to-me RV trailer home from the southern California desert. Unfortunately, the truck broke down early on our return trip 20 miles south of Banning, CA. An AAA contracted tow truck brought us to the best pickup truck service center they knew of. Happily, Terry and the friendly and knowledgeable crew at Truck Works in Banning tore into the truck's engine and eventually discovered the problem and repaired it. The problem turned out to be a failed wiring harness on the engine that was causing all sorts of crazy things, like racing of the engine, wouldn't shut off, and more. I borrowed a pickup truck from a friend to pull my new-to-me RV trailer home to NorCal from the desert of SoCal. Just north of Palm Springs, the truck broke down on a Sunday afternoon. We were towed to Truck Works (TW) in Banning and spent the night in the trailer outside the shop on the street. The next morning owner, Terry Ward, and staff arrived ready to help us. While the truck gave upwards of 20 error codes, the discovery of the root problem eluded technicians for two and a half days. Happily, the staff remained tenacious and ultimately the problem was discovered as a badly shorted wiring harness over the engine. After the replacement harness arrived, it was carefully installed and tested. The alternator, which initially had also failed, was replaced. We were without transportation during this four-day period, so to get food and supplies needed for our asphalt camping outside the repair shop, we walked, used Uber rides and shared in lunchtime meals with the TW staff. And during the COVID-19 pandemic, even takeout meals and deliveries were virtually non-existent. Office admin, Melissa, took my wife to the grocery store for some much-needed food. And Terry allowed us to fill our water tank in the RV trailer. By Thursday midday, we were headed northward again, confident we would not be interrupted again with breakdowns. Sure enough, our trip was uneventful, except happily for an overnight stay and visit with dear friends. By Friday, we arrived in NorCal to drop off our RV trailer at our home and return the now much healthier borrowed pickup. On the following Monday, the owner, Terry Ward, called me to check if everything was still okay (which it was). The actions and compassion in support of us clearly epitomize excellent customer service. We are ever in debt to Terry and his team for their kindness and expertise. This review is long overdue. Brought in my 99 Ford Ranger. The 4 wheel drive would not engage and a terrible grinding sound was scaring the heck out of me. I was convinced the transfer case was bad and dreading an expensive repair. The Truck Works team diagnosed a bad hub and completed the repair in a couple days. I got the bill when I came to pick it up and couldn't believe the price as it was about 10% less than what I'd seen online. I was looking for a local shop to install springs, shocks and UCAs on my 4 runner. When I called truck works they were able to schedule me within a week and they said they would call me with the quote. The day before the install I had to call and get the quote as they never got back to me. The quote I got was $1300. Fast forward to me picking up the 4Runner and my total ballooned to $2100. They stated they didn't know they were installing front springs and shocks. They already did the work so I just paid it. I took the 4 runner home and while inspecting the vehicle I notice their were 4 screws missing on the front fenders. I took the mud flaps off so I was able to replace those. Also, on the drive home my breaks squeak like crazy. Before I took the car to the shop the brakes were totally fine. I thought it was brake dust but it's been two weeks. For the price I would expect the quality to be top notch. Guess next time I will have to go to Redlands or Rialto to get work done. read more

Went to this guy had my truck for a week called me and said he fixed the trans leak (didn't take my truck in for that) then charged my to check coolant leak when I told him when I walked in that the radiator was leaking asked about trans cooler lines Terry said the were ok (they weren't routed correctly and weren't in the hold down clamps).. charged me an hour (worked on it for 10 min I clocked him) for the guy to plug in and tell me needed to check pins whatever that means? Asked to have them install some rear lift springs they said they were the wrong ones(went home and changed them myself) he must of started on it because my shackle bolts were loose.. This business does not honor warranties or workmanship. took my truck in knowing I needed a new engine, they convinced me they could be a hero and just fix it. $1,400 later, it still needed a new engine he did apply that $1,400 to new engine engine was great but they forgot to secure my transmission. I asked if this would be a problem they assured me it would not. Transmission now has three leaks that it did not previously had they will not honor it their workmanship. Nothing. This is the second time I have tried to work with them and I will never go there again nor will I ever recommend them. They do not honor their workmanship they're not a trustworthy repair shop. read more

Our Class A Coach broke down on the 10 fwy near Banning, Ca on our way home from vacation. Good Sam recommended and towed us to Truck Works. Terry and team were in on that Saturday catching up on work as they are normally closed on Saturday. It took the tow truck a few hours to get there but Terry and team waited until after 8pm on their day off for us to arrive in tow. I I instantly felt I was in good hands when I met Terry. I explained that I had paid a shop in Huntington Beach to address the issues that caused this breakdown. Turns out they didn't do the things they said they did but that's a different issue. Got towed here while travelling through. Older diesel would not start and was in a bind. Talked to Terry on the phone and although he was swamped he said to have it brought over. He was honest and said that he wouldn't be able to look at it until the next day (not what I hoped for, but honest and I would rather have honest than being strung along) While we were doing paperwork, truck started up again and kept starting. Terry could have sent me on my way but instead came out and checked it over for safety, got under the truck, checked under the hood and also informed me about what might be the issue if it happens again. Our MB Sprinter RV wouldn't start en route to Arizona and Truck Works was able to work us in right away. They were friendly and explained what was wrong (a blown starter fuse), showed us how to replace it ourselves and gave us an extra backup fuse in case it blew again. Nice owners, nice staff. My husband and I were traveling from San Jose, CA to Dallas, TX early February 2021 when our truck broke down 30 miles from Banning (which was our first stop for the night). AAA towed our truck to one of their recommended repair shops and on Monday when we spoke with the repair shop, they said they weren't qualified to do the work and recommended we have the truck towed to Truck Works in Banning. This was the best thing that happened to us on this trip!! Terry talked with us about what was going on with the truck when it died, and right off the bat was able to pinpoint what he thought the problem was (and he was right!). He and his staff were all so experienced and helpful, kept us informed of progress on the truck, liased with our mechanic back in San Jose, and even moved our 5th wheel into storage at the local KOA campground as we had no tow vehicle to move it after it had been towed there by AAA. We were heading out on a Friday for my son's race, around 4:00/4:30. As soon as we get on the freeway all the warning lights come on and the temp gauge pins itself. I call Terry, he asks if it's drivable and to bring it in. He figures out it was (I think, this was about 6 months ago)it was the fan clutch. Calls in a favor from his parts guy, gets the part, and then installs it. It was well after 6, on a Friday, until it was finished. No extra charge, or premium, just good work and made sure we'd be able to get to my kids race. Terry had no reason to do this business wise.
