Rented a saw to cut concrete with late friday. Saturday afternoon we started our project only to find saw was essentially useless. Blade wouldnt cut. By that time they were closed. When we returned it monday and were charged 2 day rental. For 250 bucks i expect the item to function properly. The person at counter was no help whatsoever. Feel ripped off. read more

These guys have the tools you need. Don't buy them, rent them. Then the darn thing always works! The people at Truckee Rents know their stuff, and if they don't, they tell you. I rented a heavy vibrating floor sander and though we worked around TWO thunderstorms, we managed to refinish the deck in 2 days at a cost of about 350. Truckee Rents has genuine customer service and knowledgeable support. We called on them 5 minutes before closing in need of a generator to keep our business vans reefer unit running over night. They were happily willing to service us and hold their doors for 15 minutes, allowing us to pick up the generator. Not only were they willing to assist, the staff was also SUPER friendly. I've only used these guys for chainsaw repair and sharpening but would highly recommend. I take away a star because they're not super responsive (took them months on my saw but I wasn't in a hurry so guess I coulda pushed more if I cared). These guys are great! I left 2 chainsaws at their shop on Sunday afternoon. Got a call the next day saying that the smaller 18" saw was done. New carb and cleaning. Want to say that these people are the best. have been going to Truckee Rents for over 20 years. They changed management a couple years ago and are still very good. Helpful and patient with your questions. Always thorough in explaining how equipment works when you rent. I have bought a couple chainsaws and never had a problem. The yard workers and mechanics are friendly and helpful and we like bringing them a pizza or sandwiches from time to time. They all work hard, especially in the winter and deserve it. We're in the middle of a gigantic winter here, and our Honda 928 snowblower broke. It didn't seem to be the shear pins, or anything obvious. That night it rained and our sloping driveway turned into a pool of slush. The mail truck came down it and even with chains on, got stuck and had to be towed out. While its driver was spinning the wheels in an attempt to get unstuck, huge ruts got formed, making it completely unpassable. Even though they were three weeks backed up on repairs and service, Truckee Rents sent a repairman to our house! and he fixed it for the paltry sum of $25!!! Now we can get out again! I needed to drill a few holes in a granite boulder that was in the way of landscaped path. Bought roto-hammer drill bits from HomeDepot. Was averaging about 1" depth per 10minutes. Frustrated, I drove over to Truckee Rents and rented a bit. With that one, I was able to drill 6" in 5 minutes !!!. Eventually, I managed to break the bit and had to pay for it upon return two days later, but they were nice enough to only charge me for 1-day rental on the bit. The boulder is gone and we can get the remodeling project back on-track. read more

I took my Honda snowblower here for a repair. The metal housing had torn due to wear. They welded it for me doing a solid job on a difficult spot and it's holding fine. $50 price tag was OK by me. They really know their snowblowers and chainsaws and have all the parts you need-though a bit pricey. read more

It was a small interaction, but sure helped me out. I had trouble with the drivetrain on a snowblower and they helped me trouble-shoot it over the phone. It saved me a trip down and got me back clearing the patio and walkway. They should be entitled to something for that, especially since they were so kind and sincerely interested in helping over the phone. Wow. I dropped off a pressure washer to get a new carb way over three weeks ago. They said it would take 7-10 days. Every time I call to check they promise it will be ready the next day. Nope. I guess I will never deal with them again. I would rather drive to Reno than support these guys. Fix the darn power washer. I am very pissed off. read more
