    brisket sandwich and fries
    Leeza N.

I had Truckin BBQ at a food truck festival a while back and it was really good! I got the brisket sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich had tons of meat, a brioche bun and a really great sauce, the fries were crispy and had a really good seasoning and parsley garnish! The portion was really big and worth the money, I had to save the rest to eat at home!

Interior. Not a huge departure from the former Memphis Blues.

I just saw the new restaurant sign up as I drove by and decided to stop in. I was the only one in the restaurant outside of the two staff members. The interior looks a little more spacious now that the soft drink coolers have been removed and now that the interior is a brighter shade of white. I was greeted as soon as I entered asking if I we're eating in or taking out. As I was eating in the server asked if I would find a table and they would bring me a menu. I perused the menu for about two minutes when they asked if I were ready to order. I requested a half pound of the pulled pork, a half rack of ribs, and the fried pickles. I had the whole meal delivered to the table in roughly five minutes. I am not sure if the pickles are dredged in house but the batter tastes just like what you get at the VIP Cinemas in Abbotsford. They were tasty but not compelling enough for me to order them again. Both meat dishes were lukewarm and fairly dry. They were reminiscent of a great meal from the night before, then reheated. The flavour of the pulled pork and the rub used on both was nice, and the side of barbecue sauce complemented them both well. On the rib plate I received a rib tip; it was also quite dry and rubbery. Unfortunately two of my ribs had bone spurs in them. Rather than following the meat and cutting between the bones, two of the bones were cut on a diagonal. That made my last couple of bites fairly unpleasant. I will have to come by again during a dinner shift to see if that makes any difference. Lastly I need to address the staff and Covid-19 protocols. I was greeted by staff with masks on and when anyone came to the table they both had masks on, but as soon as they got back behind the counter to the food prep stations the masks came off and went on the counter. Additionally, one staff member was eating at the prep station. These actions in normal times would not be a big deal, but in the current climate this just can't happen. Based on these oversights I will refrain from visiting for the time being. Ultimately, tasty food and fast service with room for improvement.

Really friendly and efficient service, large portion on the bibimbap, rich flavourful seolleongtang! Delicious pumpkin soup on the house to start was a pleasant surprise. While the beef tartare was a common highlight among reviews, it didn't seem to deliver a wow factor other than being insta-pic worthy. However, this was an extremely solid bibimbap - satisfying, tasty, and generously topped. Happy with our choices.

We think this is where Koreans eat when they're not cooking at home!…read more We discovered Hansol 한솔 Korean Restaurant after seeing so many rave reviews. This place, tucked away just 5 minutes' driving distance from Coquitlam Centre, is clearly beloved by the local Korean community. The portion sizes are generous. They are perfect for sharing with family or friends. We saw many families and younger groups dining in, which gave it a cozy, homey vibe. We can taste the love and comfort in every bite. Here's what we ordered: * Beef Tartare Bibimbap - Not your typical bibimbap! The raw beef was beautifully seasoned and full of flavour. This was hands down our favourite dish! * Naengmyeon - Cold noodles in a super refreshing broth. Perfectly chewy with a balanced, savoury tang. A must-have on a hot day. * Japchae - Excellent portion, great price. The noodles were springy and not greasy at all--just the right balance of flavour. Great value, quality ingredients, and authentic flavours--Hansol is definitely going on our go-to list whenever we're craving comforting Korean food. We are highly recommend it for students, families, or anyone who loves real Korean cooking! Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: 5/5 Kids: 4/5 Yay! Price: $30-$40 each person (dinner) Presentation: 3/5 Parking: 4/5 Tips: * Free refillable banchan (side dishes) * Must-try: naengmyeon (cold noodles) * Hidden gem: beef tartare bibimbap-flavourful and beautifully presented. * Limited seating - expect wait during peak hours * Tasty, affordable, and generous portions Would I Return: Yes ‍

No frills and worth the hype!…read more Our family of six arrived at 12 pm on a Tuesday. We waited approximately 25 minutes which is not bad at all considering how popular this small restaurant is. My mom is vegetarian and my girls had a wonton noodle soup lunch at another spot down the street. So we ordered a few things mainly for my dad, husband and myself: 1) Platter with barbecue pork and chicken (雙拼叉燒香油雞) 2) Half-order of roast duck (半隻脆皮燒鴨) 3) late of roast pork (燒肉) 4) Bowl of rice (一碗米飯) We cleared everything. The meats were juicy, tender, and flavorful. My girls are usually indifferent to Cantonese barbecued meats but they tried it and enjoyed everything as well. This is definitely a place to repeat if and when we revisit Vancouver.

This was my family and wife's first stop in Vancouver and frankly, nothing has topped it yet…read more You're getting some of the best HK BBQ possible. They ran out of duck but do not fret because the soya chicken is where it's at. The soya chicken is incredibly tender, even the breast meat is tender. Secondly, it's perfectly marinated and if you dab a little of their homemade soy sauce, it's even better. Eat this with rice and you'll never want another meal in your life. This was easily our favorite dish for the place. Bbq pork and crispy pork are both spot on as well. They give generous and juicy cuts and the crispy pork is, well, crispy. The skin is a nice crunch and the meat is juicy, what more could you ask for? I still salivate and dream of the meat here and I wish we had something like this back in LA cause I don't know who else would make soy chicken as good as here. Cash only so come prepared! If you're a US tourist, they take USD as well but canadian is still the better deal.
