When the move was over, it was sad, we felt like they had become a part of our family. And the truth is, they had. They were with us during one of the most stressful times our family had to endure, and they were the rock we could rely on. The glue that held everything together. Sure, you can find the cheapest vendor (Actually Truckin was very competitive on price compared to others). You can also find a company who claims they hire good people. I cannot say enough good things about Truckin movers without someone thinking that I own the company.... But everything I say is true and I am so thankful that I made that call last summer when I found out at the last moment that I was going to have to relocate for my job. On the first call I was greeted by the office manager Noelle and I have to say, she will cheer up anyone's day with her upbeat and professional attitude! She set up an appointment for me to speak with Brad (Operations manager) virtually because of covid restrictions and he was able to figure out just what we would need as far as moving containers and temporary storage while our new home was being built. He was spot on with his calculations and offered in my opinion a great price for the entire move. Much better than anywhere else I checked with! Now, as far as the moving crew members... James, Terry, Milton, Steven and Felipe are top notch! Bar none! They all worked like a well oiled machine as my wife and I just got out of their way and watched. They had the contents of our home packed, wrapped and on two trucks within 6 hours and damaged NOTHING!! Which is very important ..... and then again on the flip side 6 months later when they delivered our belongings 200 miles away they had everything unloaded and went beyond the call of duty by doing things like attaching the washer and dryer to their pedestals. Each one of these guys has been with Truckin movers for years which impressed me and speak highly of this company which says a lot! All of them were extremely polite as well as respectful and very careful while unloading and setting up our furniture and placing boxes where ever we instructed them to place them. Avoid Truckin' Movers for interstate moves! I think they would be fine for a move within the Triangle area, but I would strongly recommend an alternative company for an interstate move. I wanted to support a local company, but I had a very unpleasant experience when they moved my belongings from Durham, NC to Memphis, TN. Nick and Jimmie were very helpful in providing an estimate for the move and my contract. Pick-up in Durham went well; the full crew of three men arrived on time, they worked very quickly, and packed my furniture and items very carefully. The problems arose during delivery in Memphis. My contract with Truckin' Movers stated that a crew of three would arrive to unload in Memphis. However, only one mover arrived and he was either drunk or high. He catcalled several of my female neighbors, making many of them visibly uncomfortable. Although I paid for a full service move, I had to do the majority of the moving into my new apartment. I had to co-carry all the larger items and I moved more of my boxes than the mover did because he was too intoxicated to be of much assistance. Fortunately, I don't own much furniture (a one bedroom apartment's worth), but this would be a disaster for a family with a full household of furniture. When the unload was complete, the mover informed me that the carbon copy of the inventory form did not record what was written on the form so that I have no record of the items that were picked up and delivered other than a grainy cell phone picture. Despite all the issues I encountered during delivery, I was still charged the entire remaining balance for the move. If you choose to work with Truckin' Movers, very clearly review your contract but be aware that they may disregard information listed in the contract. read more

Moving is very stressful and finding the right moving company is critical! In the last month, Truckin Movers has completed two moves for our family and we could not be more pleased with our experience!! From booking our move through the corporate office (Brad and Noelle are AMAZING to work with...conscientious and responsive...and took a lot of time with me to make sure all expectations were met) to the pick-up and delivery, everything went flawlessly!! The first move was moving my son from Chapel Hill NC to Washington DC. Robert (the crew leader) and Anthony (the mover) were terrific...picking up from two separate locations and delivering on-time in DC on the scheduled date. All items were placed perfectly...and NO DAMAGE! Based on this experience, I scheduled a second move for my daughter from Asheville NC to Nashville TN. While it was not a traditional service area, Brad was willing to schedule the move and provided competitive pricing to Asheville area moving companies. The move itself was seamless. James (the crew leader) and Terry (the mover) were highly professional, timely and efficient. I was particularly impressed with their willingness to assist/engage with things that wouldn't have been expected of them. For example, as my daughter and I were inspecting her new apartment for flaws to be placed on a checklist for the property manager, Terry pointed out a number of paint/ceiling issues that we wouldn't have identified. Also, James helped clean out the brush of a vacuum cleaner we were using. Again, there was no damage, and the cost of the move was less than what was quoted!! We are happy to give an enthusiastic review for Truckin' Movers of Durham, NC. They helped us with a complicated move that involved 2 weeks of storage, an extra shipment to Montana via rail and truck, and multiple drop-off locations plus moving a car. Although we didn't meet with our agent, Brad, in person, because we were out of town when our house sold, he visited with our realtor and made a detailed estimate. He used his network of connections to deal with the MT shipment, as well as the off-loading of our car at a tow-truck shop near our primary destination in VT. All the team: Alfredo, James, Milton, Alfonso, Anthony, Steven and Wayne, worked hard and competently to pack everything with great care. Following storage at the Truckin' warehouse, which we added at the last minute when we found we hadn't synchronized our move-out and move-in dates precisely, James and Milton drove the truck north. They arrived exactly when they said they would at the first drop-off point in NNY and then continued on to VT for the bulk of the delivery. After a long day of unloading, they drove to MA for the final delivery the next morning, which again was on the promised schedule. Everything arrived damage-free. Truckin' Movers are hands down, the BEST movers in this area! I have known this business for about 35 years. I didn't meet Doug (the owner) until about 2006 and found him then and since to be a wonderful gentleman and one of the most ethical business owners I have ever met. In 2009 one of my sisters died in the wee hours of the morning. There were some difficulties with a her ex and we were advised by her attorney to remove all of her property immediately. This was the third move they did for me, and each time (from Nick and Brad in the office, to the crews on moving day) they all excel with their professionalism, sincere desire to please, clarity, patience and friendliness. I had to move from Greensboro, NC across the country to Oregon, and they made the physical move part of my trip smooth sailing, including getting my car across the country. Brad was amazing from start to finish. I had never done a long distance move so he was endlessly patient as I asked a million questions, and he routinely would call or email me to check-in and give me status updates. The guys showed up to pack my house and did a fantastic job, ensuring I knew of any existing damage, no matter how small, or where they were putting hardware so I could tell the crew meeting me in Oregon. What would have taken me weeks to pack took them only hours and saved so much stress. The moving company they contracted with in Oregon was a local company in the area, which I loved, and they delivered the same high-level service, even when faced with some logistical challenges of a big truck and small street! Couretous. Helpful. On-time. Professional. The job: A thousand pounds of household effects, from Durham to Portland, OR within 2 weeks. I'd called around and searched the Web looking for the best way to ship, not finding much luck--either too complicated, too much money, or not able to ship to Portland. On June 14 I called Truckin' Movers, a Durham firm I'd seen around for many years. Brad, in charge of interstate moves, informed me that Truckin' Movers had established, reliable partners in Portland and gave me a quick estimate, right there on the inital call based on my description of the number of boxes and number of cu.ft. He said he'd try to find me a shipment going to the NW right away, a bit of a challenge given the volume of moves this time of year. The same day he called back saying he could get my load on a truck within a week, June 21. At the same time he confirmed the guaranteed delivery would be on July 1. Perfect! Bunch of Thieves and FRAUD Trucking Movers! Be ware! They lost some of our valuable items and they don't want to take responsibility for it. It started when we noticed our King Size mattress was missing the only mattress they have to move and only 1 foundation was delivered. Then we started to start unboxing our stuff and yes my woman instinct was right. We also have a lot of damaged item, it took me so much time to take bunch of detailed photos only to found out they valued all the damaged good repair for only $150 even if we opted for a better insurance with them. The issue was escalated to the President of the company "Doug" but it seems like his a pro in responding to all damage and lost item claim, he has answer to everything so just a heads-up IT WAS A WASTE OF TIME! WE DO PRAY THAT WE WILL BE YOUR LAST VICTIM! AND FORGOODNESS SAKE, TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY ON BOTH THE DAMAGED AND LOST ITEM THAT HAPPENS IN YOUR WAREHOUSE PREMISES. As you mentioned over the call, you don't have control to what's going in & out of your warehouses. I moved from NC to PA The whole move went much smoother and far less stressful than I had imagined, thanks to all the guys who worked so hard at both ends. They kept me informed of what was going on at all times. very courteous and extremely careful with every item. James, Steve & Chad and all the guys were amazing in Chapel Hill and packed up with such military precision and yet always ready to answer any questions . Once in PA they guys had to get my baby grand piano around an extremely tight corner in the small hallway leading t the second floor. Chuck and Steve promised me they would get it upstairs even though I thought there was no way it could be done .
