I asked a taxi driver for the best enchiladas mineras in the city. I never tried them, never even heard of them before, but i have to tell you these are absolutely the best enchiladas i ever had in my relatively long life. I can't identify all the flavors and seasonings, but it was fantastic, and my novia had something like "embolsadas de mole" which was more or less like cheese enchiladas smothered in mole. It was just as good. Maybe the service was a little indifferent, but i don't go to restaurants to be treated like a rock star, i come for the food! By the way the natural juices were great too, and we got out of there for 200 pesos, which at today's rate is $13 US dollars. So to all the snobs that didn't like the service, eat some humble pie and come back and try the enchiladas! read more

Delicious at a bargain price!! We had the Tampiqueno plate and carne asada plate. Tampiqueno came with a generous filet of beef that was tender and well seasoned. You also got a small corn quesadilla, two cheese enchiladas, rice, beans, and salad! The carne asada came with a thinner, but equally tasty filet of beef and a small corn quesadilla, beans and salad. this place is superb. was here on vacay with friends. Despite being 3 people we ordered like 6 different plates to try and someone we only paid about 500 pesos, which at the time was about 25 US dollars. The wait was about 45m-1hr, and I was definitely getting a bit restless, but my friend who had been there before INSISTED we wait and eat there. After we finally got escorted to our seats and got our plates all the hanger rage was swiped away and forgotten, the food was heavenly like little angels being born inside your mouth with every bite. 2 plates i recommend are the Chilaquiles Sala Verde, and the Mole. Had a soupy shrimp with garlic entree that gave me quite the Montezuma's revenge the next day. Told our hotel about it and they confessed they don't know how the place gets good ratings. Waiting forever for mediocre food. No thank you. I think those that are giving this place 5 stars may not have had homecooked Mexican food from an abuelita or dear tia. Having perused through the reviews before coming here, I had seen quite a few reviews about the service being shoddy and the food not being all that great. I went twice, once on a Tuesday morning (9am-ish) and a Wednesday evening (8pm-ish), and had the same experience both times. (Side note: I do speak fairly proficient Spanish and look Mexican, so there's that, for the record.) That said, both times, I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was decent. (The menu was brought promptly and food came out within a reasonable time frame). The first time I had the chilaquiles, and second time, the sábana invierno. The thing that I especially liked about both dishes was that they put the dish in the oven for a short time after preparation so that the queso fresco is melted, with some brown spots. God, I love that. I'll be here for four more days and will probably go back again at least once or twice. The ambiance is wonderful. It's quaint, with a mixture of old and modern artwork, oldies (various jazz standards, Everly Brothers) playing overhead and some tastefully placed knickknacks. read more

Excellent option for dining in Guanajuato. The restaurant is beautiful inside and service is great. I ordered the Enchiladas Mineras and they were so delicious! I was very happy with my dish. I also tried a bit of the enmoladas, and they too delicious. Very flavorful and they were served with a lot of mole sauce. Full bar I believe, but we opted for a bottle of wine which paired nicely with our meal. I did wish though that they had more wine options for wines from Mexico. Nevertheless we chose a nice wine that we all enjoyed. The ambiance in the restaurant is very nice and tranquil, would definitely recommend this place! read more

Food can be unpredictable. But it is generally ok. Once I was served a horrible onion soup that tasted like water with an opaque color. The kitchen should focus on standardizing its recipes and not just guessing. Followup: I recently returned to the restaurant and noticed they had worked on their onion soup. It's okay. The food is adequate, nothing outstanding. I live near here and attend classes near here, so I have come often. I don't like the fact that I feel as if I am bothering the waitress. I have eaten many breakfast dishes, which are cheap and filling, and nachos once, but don't try those. Service was so slow, when I was hungry, that I was literally stealing bread off the recently deoccupied table next to us. When the food finally arrived, it was ok (3-star). I had chicken enchiladas with green sauce. I was a bit disappointed that the "spicy sauce" this gringo wanted to see if he could handle was daintly applied. There just wasn't enough there to really taste it. My partners chicken mole was oddly bitter which made it largely inedible. My cappuccino was ok given Guanajuato standards. On the plus side, they have wifi and it is pretty good (for Guanajuato). 7.5megabits down, .1megabits down. It depends, though, on where you are seated in this surprisingly large establishment. This is not a top notch restaurant and it's not a place for large parties. We had a party of fifteen which they did accommodate but when the food came out the food was cold, I had enchiladas but I could barely see them under the huge pile of cheese. This was a bad experience. We got a waiter that literally had a resting bitch face and whenever we'd order, it's like we were inconveniencing her. My dad asked for coffee as soon as she took our orders and didn't get it to him until we had gotten our food. Next, we ordered tortillas de maíz and she never got it to us, my mom had to ask another waiter passing by for it, who got it to us in like 2min. This is my least favorite restaurant in Guanajuato. Good location, boring food. I live in Guanajuato (4 years). We have a men's luncheon group that meets once a week. It's a favorite of the guy who does the email notices, so Truco 7 gets picked 1-3 times per month. When it's Truco 7, I don't go. Better are El Bistro, Mestizo, Los Campos. Right now in the right hand column there is one 5-star rating one 2-star, and THREE 1-star ratings. Guess which ones I agree with? The hostess scowled at us when we asked for a table and the tables were dirty from previous meals. We ordered the enchiladas rojas de pollo and they were extremely dry. I guess there's a first time for everything. I've never walked out of a restaurant before, but this place almost ruined my whole trip! Found this place through a recommendation from a local so I was very excited. The place is huge, and it was packed. I guess the food must be good, but I wouldn't know because the staff seemed to be upset that we walked in to the restaurant. The hostess was hesitant to offer a menu, and then wanted to know if we were gonna stay or not. Sad to say we did. Big mistake. So we sat and waited and waited and finally asked for help and here comes the meanest waitress I've encountered. No hello, no name, no courtesy just one question... what do you want?
