During some downtime on a work trip to Houston I was resolved to hit up a craft brewing for some local beer. True Anomaly was just around the corner from my hotel so I made the short trek. I won't lie, this neighborhood of Houston is funky. It's very underdeveloped, lots filled with piles of rubble, and closed down/boarded up businesses. And yet, there's some fantastic food and drink spots amidst it all, True Anomaly being one of them. The taproom is large and inviting, and the beer menu expansive. Got a flight of 3 and my favorite was definitely their saison. This is the kind of place I'd probably be a regular at if I lived in town. In fact, one of the regulars was kind enough to list out some other local beers I should try, and even some restaurants/bars to check out. Cool open air space. Pretty empty when we went so tons of seating. Plugs at the bar which we appreciated after a long day of using our phone to travel. Good amount of games that we cycled through. And the space is really surprisingly clean, especially the bathroom. The beer selection is rather fine. Not a ton of appealing IPAs which is my own bias and the one I got was just fine. Probably wouldn't go back specifically for the beer or buy anything to go. A note about the parking, which may be the biggest drawback. The lot immediately surrounding it has a 3 hour minimum so $12. Across the street was $1.75 for the hour we were there. They have signs everywhere to alert people to pay for parking but in this area with so many surrounding breweries it would've been clutch to have free parking. read more

If you like IPAs, sours, lagers this is the place for you! If you like light beers only, the menu is pretty small. The Spanish lager was my fav. I'd say it's not light but also not heavy. Ambiance: Super fun space themed brewery with really cool lights, decor, and art scattered around inside. They have merch available & ample seating, including a bar area and couches/tables. Games available to play near the couches. There is also an outdoor patio space and bar is very dog friendly! All of the beers we tried were amazing! I personally loved Jupiter Drops - an IPA with lactose (so unique!) and the other IPA we tried was also very good. You do have to pay for taste samples, which seemed a bit eh if you're visiting for the first time and just trying 1 or two beers before committing... Great smaller brewery spot in the EADO area. On the day of the day of the marathon, my family and I were looking for a place to stay warm after the half marathon while we waited for my cousin to finish the full. It was an awkward time (just after 10:30am on a Sunday) so very little was open in the area! The kind employee let us come in early to warm up so we stayed for a few beers which were great! If there is one negative thing here, it is the lack of parking. I was here at a non-popular time, so found a space in their dinky parking area. There are lots next to the brewery and across the street, so you can find paid parking nearby. Yeah, weird way to start a review, but I felt I would get the bad out of the way quickly, even if the bad is not their fault. True Anomaly was started by a couple of NASA engineers, so the brews are very scientific. As per my usual modus operandi, I sat at the bar and let the beertender choose my flight with beers named after space themes: Go Flight (NEIPA), Dark Matter (Belgian Dubbel), Heat Shields are for Sissies (Belgian Quad), and Densified Propellant (Imperial Stout). Yes, some heavy weight brews. I ranked the beers in the 3.75 to 4.0 range on untappd, so above average by a few notches. The place is very clean and fits the theme nicely. Most of the seating is higher end picnic tables, with additional metal chairs and small tables (pic). Some of the brewery systems sit behind the bar and they have the tap lists to the right. Decent seating at the bar and a fridge with togo beer to the right of the bar. There is a room for private parties, as well. If you go to the restroom, you will see art for various of their cans (pic). And there are various bits of memorabilia, like a print of the mission plan for the space shuttle. Great experience all around. I will return next time I am in Houston. read more

True Anomaly was the last brewery I went to and I was probably a little burnt out. We also just managed to walk in a little before last call/closing time. Sundays are a still a little sleepy. The staff didn't seem to mind, actually they were dispassionate. We got up to the bar took a look and no hi or howdy. I knew what I was going to get but my buddy was on the fence and at no point was there any attempt in his decision making process. I ended up getting one of their sours which was ok. I think I would have tried some more but it seemed like it would burden staff for another so we just settled up and left. read more

True Anomaly is located in the quite popular and busy part of EaDo and has had some truly remarkable beers I've always enjoyed at local bars. So its a treat for me to be able to actually go to the brewery itself. Parking on the streets will always give you anxiety and uncertainty particularly since the soccer stadium and Minute Maid park aren't too far away in this part of EaDo. Not only that, parking at their brewing company also will give you butterflies in your stomach as well. Get this, the SOUTHEAST facing parking lot is NOT their property and would require $10 to park through QR code. However the NORTHEAST facing parking lot is free (If you can nab one of the 4 spots). With this said, there is quite a possibility that some patrons will pay $10 to get into the doors and some are free. NGL this is quite the annoyance and will play a big part of if I return or not. Once I got in there, a wall of 80+ degree air hit my face. Apparently their AC is broken in this historic heat wave in Houston. I understand its no ones fault for AC breaking, but come on. SMH All is well with their brews. I elected to get their propellant and their brown ale Charlie. Both of which are remarkably tasty, especially in this heat outside and inside. Pricing came in between $7-$12 for each brew which is what you typically find in your local bars. Between the AC being broken and the parking lot debacle, my experience at True anomaly Brewing was not a very pleasant one. I'll continue drinking the brews, but more at the local pub than this place since it'll be less of a hassle and I'll save $10. read more

Love this brewery. I came here once on a quiet afternoon and started to notice some of the subtle space exploration accents across the room. Turns out the owners are former NASA engineers. At least thats what they told me. So yeah, they have some cool stuff in there and most if not all of the beers pay homage to aviators or space exploration missions. How cool is that?? Oh my god, True Anomaly welcome to the Houston beer scene. I found out about this place on Google Maps actually and sought it out on our road trip. It was a bonus that True Anomaly is located close to 8th Wonder, so if you're in for a beer night...just walk on over and get a taste of both breweries. True Anomaly was poppin' when we walked in! Their outdoor patio was full of what seemed like industry folks. They must have had industry night or something. I love that beer folk support each other! Walking in, the ambiance is elevated, minimalist yet earthy tones. It felt so warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. They offer a good solid selection of interesting brews. Their website says they specialize in sours and Belgians, but I was so intrigued by their funky wheat, the beautiful grape/maroon brew. They had so many other beers that I wanted to try, but we were on a schedule. It was so tasty and flavorful. They have strong wifi, clean restrooms (and a whole dang couch in the women's!), serve-yourself water and a food truck too. There was a friendly man who walked around selling tamales too. We were kinda kicking ourselves for not buying any after the fact! Will definitely be back to True Anomaly next time. read more

My group Houston Concierge invited me in so of course I would love to go and see what the people was doing and report back. Just to be clear I had a Sprit, I'm the designated driver. I'll rate the establishment 5 stars because they comped my Sprite. Parking sucks in the area, you most definitely will pay for parking. I've seen parking go for as much as $50 during game time. I choose the lot I parked at because it was the only lot that would accommodate a 48 passenger bus. I felt safe walking a block to the brewery because the area was loaded with police presence. 5 stars in my book!! read more

Fun new spot in EaDo! The space includes both indoor and outdoor seating and is a fairly good size given the space constraints of the area. Their menu does a great job of explaining the flavor profiles and origins of their brews - you will learn a lot! I also really enjoy the cool-nerd space theme they have going on. We came here when they first opened and it's nice to see they are still consistent with their delivery. Chill brewery with plenty of space, cool decor, and tasty beer. Location This establishment is in the area with many other food and drink options. Notably, the parking lot next to it is unfortunately pay as you stay. It's not connected in anyway to this establishment's leasing agreement. Be warned you cannot park there without a boot or tow, or at least the risk!! This is one of the negatives of this EaDo area as a whole since much of the street parking is not allowed or is metered (think Midtown). The decor itself is space themed with large tables that are socially distanced due to pandemic measures. Food/Drink What more can I say other than the beer is great, definitely worth a visit. We tried several with a couple of flights. At the time of this visit they had a good amount of hazy and traditional IPAs. Service It's hard to judge in recent visit since the place was pretty low key given the pandemic, but was quick, friendly, and helpful. Overall Definitely a staple in this area of town. Personally I find the parking situation for just a beer during "normal" times to be off putting if one cannot find free street parking however if our for the night via shared ride services then this is certainly worthy of a stop. read more

You've read the other reviews and IMO they are pretty much spot on in terms of quality and taste: my beer here was excellent! Fear not and order the style you enjoy. I personally had the Jupiter Drops Hazy IPA and was completely satisfied! Yes the parking vibe is dismal and yes: the $3 price tag to taste (sample) a brew prior to purchasing is downright blasphemous to the beer gods. It was my second time visiting True Anomaly Brewing Company and my husbands first time, and it was definitely worth it. The first time I came in I went straight for my usual ( a hazy IPA), and honestly I was blown away. I didn't know what to expect but this place certainly exceeded my expectations. The second trip I went for a session hazy. It was definitely an easy sipping drink and something I would probably buy at the grocery store if they sold it in my area. The Mexican logger was also really good, which I had the first visit and it left an impression on me. Parking can be a bit hectic on certain days.
