I really enjoyed visiting Segundo Coffee Lab. I like the industrial vibe, as it's located in Iron Works surrounded by other small businesses and shops. I tried the cold brew "cafe de olla" which was strong and bitter and topped with a vanilla, cinnamon cold foam. I wanted to have it as authentic as they made it but if I were to order again I'd add in a syrup or milk base to sweeten it up a bit. They all serve empanadas which was my personal favorite! They fry them fresh so it took about 10 minutes or so but definitely worth the wait! The bread was so soft and the birria was so flavorful and the spicy salsa paired so well with it.

I came to Segundo to do work because it was about 10 minutes from where I live, and I've been hunting for new coffee shops to try. It's found in a modern, industrial building called Ironworks, and consists of several small vendors, studios, and office spaces, which is really neat! A nice third space, for sure, and there was plenty of space to lounge and work. Many of the boutique shops were expensive, though, so I'd treat them as window-shopping places rather than shops I'd actually spend money on. Unfortunately, I was pretty underwhelmed by my drink... I ordered the La Mexicana Iced Latte with oat milk, as I was told it was one of their most popular drinks. It was very creamy, not too sweet, and had a vanilla flavor. The coffee was so subtle that it felt like I was drinking straight milk at one point; I don't think I could justify spending $7.58 for how bland it tasted. Segundo and Ironworks are decent places, but I don't want to visit again.

I love me a good cup of coffee! This place delivered. It's a small shop, that gives big flavors. Not only do they serve fresh coffee, they also have coffee options for you to purchase and make at home. In addition, they have pastries, juice/water options, and other merch to buy. If you ever stop by Ironworks, make sure to head on over and grab some coffee from them.

This place was really unique. It's inside iron works which looks like shipping container. You can add THC or CBD to drinks. They had specialty drinks like a Thai tea espresso(which is what I got) it tasted just like Thai tea. They even have pastries. Service wasn't bad but I could tell it would be hard to hear your name being called in there for your coffee.

Segundo Coffee Lab is in a cool industrial space with a couple of other food and drink options and lots of cute local shops and service providers. There's a good amount of communal style seating indoor and some tables out front as well. I was excited to try their lattes and specials. I got one of the spring specials on their board called the Miel Rosada. It was a honey latte with rose cold foam and cocoa powder. It was overall not a bad iced latte, but the flavors were very subtle. I didn't get much honey, rose, or cocoa powder. My partner got a Thai especial latte, which has Thai tea flavor and some of the iconic orange color. Again, the flavors were more muted than we were hoping. Along with my latte, I grabbed a lemon poppy seed muffin. It's gigantic, has icing on top, and lots of poppyseeds inside. I enjoyed this more. You could probably split it among two people and be satisfied. Their strawberry cruffin was also tasty, and their counter has a variety of sweet and savory breakfast bites. Lastly, I thought the level of service and friendliness of the employees and baristas was great. I hope I can return at some point to try other drinks and bump my rating up.

inside of ironworks. plenty of parking. multiple seating options like tables and couch. other vendors like juice bar.

Staff is pretty friendly and they seem to operate well out of ironworks. I didn't think anything much of the coffee. It was just.. meh for me. I also tried their beef empanada and it wasn't bad, but the shell was hard and just not a pleasant bite. I think Houston has a lot of better spots, but if you're looking for a spot to study and to be able to do a bit of local shopping, it's a good spot to check out.

I've been to this place so many times to study, and now I'm finally giving this wonderful coffee place a review. To start off, I love how creative this place gets with their drinks. The whimsical names bring me joy every time I read the options out loud. The baristas are so friendly and patient with my friends and I because we're kinda an indecisive bunch lol. Overall, I highly recommend coming here, none of the drinks I ordered were ever bad (knock on wood). Affordable drinks! Great vibes!

I come here for this specific drink after my friend recommended it. I love it. Especially since I don't care for coffee taste and more for "how is this different in flavor," I get only one shot so if you share that mindset for coffee, this drink will satisfy you. I also get it with 2% milk (not lactose intolerant yet!) so it feels smooth but not too thick as I am a natural skim milk drinker. For their spooky menu, they have a ube coffee which was good that my partner got. I've also had their breakfast tacos and avocado toast and they were satisfying but they're in this ironworks building, other food options exist. I can't wait to move back to Houston to get this drink more often!

Good coffee and even better baked goods! Segundo is located in a more industrial part of town, right near some warehouses and train tracks. Inside a big warehouse itself, Segundo has their own little booth on the side, across a CBD shop. There are plenty of drink offerings. My husband enjoyed his coffee, my sons enjoyed the chocolate croissant and I enjoyed the delicious pistachio muffin. If you're looking for something different to do, definitely come by and take a look at all the clothing and trinket shops while sipping on your coffee and enjoying your pistachio muffin!

I ordered a pistachio latte here and I unfortunately wasn't a fan... the syrup didn't taste nutty at all and I couldn't tell what I was tasting to be honest. It was a weird chemical aftertaste to put it plainly. The location itself is pretty cool though. There's lots of small vendors selling their goods and plenty of tables for hanging out or studying.

Came for a quick study session and I think it's a pretty nice place to do some work. Lots of seating and good wifi. But it's not the quietest place if that what you are looking for. Parking was also super easy with the lot across the street. I really enjoyed my drink. I got the Thai especial latte which was a Thai tea and shot of espresso I believe. It had a Thai tea taste but I feel like it was not super distinct and like hard to recognize as Thai tea. But it was really good and had a really strong flavor. I can't say I was a fan of the empanada though. It didn't have much flavor and the texture of the dough threw me off a little. It kinda just felt a bit dry. The workers were nice and helpful. Pretty neutral experience I would say. Either way I feel like I'd come back to try their other drinks and I overall like the atmosphere.

They use coffee bags as wall decoration. The power plugs are located at the bottom and are cut out for access.

Disclaimer: I'm on a hunt for the best cafe to work from as I'm working remote. My review is based on factors for a good place to work from and not necessarily the coffee or food. Overall great cafe for work and coffee. Noise level - 64 db quiet conversation Wifi speed - 114 down 144 up Power plugs - around 6 Seats - 10 indoors Parking - free 10 lots The barista was very friendly and introduced me to the place and told me they roast their own coffee beans here. My flat white came within 5 minutes and was delicious. The place is small so you're not fighting with a lot of people to use the internet but you'll have to be here early to grab a spot. I was here at 9am and got a table next to the power plug. The tables are also close to each other so it's hard to have meetings if everyone is speaking loudly. I'll definitely recommend this cafe for quiet work.

I didn't really find the matcha flavor strong or there at all. It had a lot of the lime flavor more than anything else. The other drink I tried was the pretty in pina which is basically a pina colada. That drink was my favorite amongst the two. It tasted like your classic pina colada. Vibe/Decor - 4.5* The storefront is cool, nice entryway and gives a chill vibe. Stepping in it's a bit boutique and free space for studying and chilling, with some music in the background. They have a panty near the door for those in need who want water and snacks, which is a great cause, but sadly I watched it be abused in the short time I was here. The intent is, come in, take what you need, within reason, don't clear it out essentially. Well, I watched a lady load up her bag with snacks and water. It wasn't what I'd subjectively view as "fair." They have some TVs around that at this visit had the World Cup on and there was a nice setup for buying some jerseys if you wanted. Overall, I enjoyed the setup and witnessed plenty of people reading or studying. Food / Drink - 2* They offer some bites and coffee drinks, which is obviously what many are likely visiting for. I ordered an Iced Black Sesame Latte, which also had a black sesame cold foam. The disappointing part, it was nothing to write home about. Maybe I'm a harsh critic here since I make my own Black Sesame simple syrup at home. That said, I did have the person with me try it who has tried my sesame lattes tell me they thought mine were better. I thought, well, maybe I'll get something else if I come back. Service - 2* I can only speak to my personal experience, but when I walked in, multiple people stared at me, as if I was an alien or unwelcome here, it was odd and uncomfortable. I approached the counter to order, asking a couple of questions, which were answered, albeit probably not as anyone would define as "warmly." Now, once ordered, it took longer than one would expect given how few orders were ahead of mine. I was in no rush, but I did witness the gentleman in front of me who was wearing a local business' shirt, seem to pace and anxiously wait. Cost - 1* Anyone who reads my reviews knows I preface this with, always subjective, but it's been awhile since I walked into a place and nearly walked out on pricing alone. That said, I wanted to see if the coffee was worth it at $9+ bucks. Sadly, it is not, particularly when paired with the pace of service. Overall - 2* This is one that I think has a lot of potential, but it just misses on fundamental marks for a coffee shop. At the end of the day, it's a cool vibe and I could see plenty of people wanting to relax here, but in a city, and even area, that has plenty of options, this one is worth skipping. Average coffee, subpar service, and poor pricing. I will not be returning, but hey, I'm only one review and opinion so if you're in the area, maybe your experience will be different.
