For the staff, it's a family-run business and they're all incredibly nice and personable. It's easy to talk to all of them and they're more than willing to help with special requests and orders. They also offer a 10% in-store credit reward system which is simple and quite generous too! In terms of location, while it's a bit off the beaten path, it's close enough to one of the main streets in tow (and another hobby shop) to not be an issue. Parking can be cramped on busy days, but that's to be expected. As far as product goes, there's a lot! Miniatures in particular are well-represented. All Games Workshop IPs are here (some more than others, but also including some boxsets that aren't available anymore) and they're always getting new product in for pre-orders. While they do sell them at GW retail price, their rewards program has let me get away (more than a few times) with getting a few boxes for free or for more than 50% discount. Dungeons and Dragons + Pathfinder minis are also available, as are Star Wars: Legion, BattleTech, and HeroClix, as well as more niche stuff, like Blood and Plunder. A fair selection for various card games, but also a generous and wide selection of board games as well! Lastly, there is also a selection of paints, primers, brushes, magnets, basing material, and other hobby tools that are readily available. As far as gaming space, the backroom has space to accommodate plenty of people and for different games. Plenty of tables to set up at, and a wide selection of terrain to make use of for wargaming. While I unfortunately cannot comment on the music section of the store, as I have not made use of its services, I can say that the gentleman who runs it is very respectful and helpful. Overall, a very worthwhile visit for hobbyists who want a wide selection of goods to peruse at an honest price from honest staff. When I asked about them, I was told those boxes were on hold. I explained that I had called ahead and was clearly told holds were not allowed. A woman named Amy came out, said the store does allow holds, said she was not sure who I spoke with, and blamed a new employee. There was no ownership of the situation and no attempt to make it right. I was not even offered the option to purchase one box. As a first time potential customer, this was enough for me to walk away without buying anything and they had other selections. I will be sharing this experience with friends and would encourage others to consider this when deciding where to shop.

I came in for the Magic the Gathering Lorwyn Eclipse prerelease playing Two Headed Giant with a friend, and the entire event ran smoother than a hyperspace jump. From registration to the final round, everything was organized, on time, and genuinely fun. No chaos, no dark side rulings, just solid event management. The Magic community here is strong. Friendly players, good vibes, and a welcoming atmosphere whether you're a veteran Jedi or still figuring out which lands to tap. This place works great for me because it's really close to my house and it's locally owned. That way I don't have to drive a long way to find what I need for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign. The Hero's Emporium has always had a great selection of brushes, paints, and miniatures that I have come to rely heavily upon as a Dungeon Master. I am always able to find the miniatures that I am looking for whether that be a female gnome paladin or several packages of gnolls that I can paint and throw at my party. All the miniatures are very reasonably priced too, so I can get even larger miniatures like a storm giant for only around $15. For as long as miniatures take me to paint, this is well worth the money. I also want to mention that they offer a decent selction of dice sets to choose from, which is important for any D&D campaign, especially when your dice are fickle. I also love that they offer both old and new sourcebooks for D&D as well as official Nolzurs paint sets, and Icons of the Realms. This gives me a large pool to choose what will be most exciting for my party. Finally I wanted to mention that this business has also done tabletop nights. Although I personally have not attended one of those events, I support the space this business is building for the tabletop community. The staff has also always been very welcoming and helpful, making sure that I am finding everything that I am searching for. I am also occasionally able to find expansion packs for a bit more obscure card game called Smash Up here, which is delightful considering that it's so hard to find in just a regular store like Target. I had to rearrange my vacation and rearrange a hunt so that I could be here to accept the package. I find out they gave me somebody else's tracking number and when I contacted them about it their response was it was an honest mistake. This is about as unprofessional as you can get. Providing someone with the correct tracking number after a large purchase is not rocket science. Time for me to move onto another distributor that can handle shipping without huge mistakes and take responsibly for the mistakes they do make.
