So she rescheduled the phone appointment for today. Again, she never called. Again my wife has been calling her and leaving voicemails. This time an hour has gone by already and she never bothered to call and apologize for missing the appointment again. Would not recommend.

Originally, I booked an appointment with Carolann because I was interested in trying to lose weight using hypnotherapy. After meeting or talking on the phone with half a dozen hypnotherapists, I settled on Carolann because she came across as genuine, caring, empathetic, and an experienced professional. Plus, she had a soothing voice which I thought would be perfect for hypnotherapy sessions (call her and you'll see!). Shortly after I began working with her, I ended up going through an unexpected and traumatic life experience that lasted two years. Carolann served as my therapist during that time and I credit her with keeping me sane. She provided me with a safe space to vent/process. She also was a caring and empathetic listener who asked insightful and thoughtful questions which helped me grow, become more self-aware, and better cope with my situation. And finally, she served as my unwavering champion during this time period, and I so appreciated her warmth, empathy, and support. It has been over two years since I last saw her and I still find myself drawing on some of the tools/insights she taught me. That traumatic life experience is behind me now (which I'm thankful for) but as strange as it sounds, I'm grateful for the experience because it brought Carolann into my life. I'm a better and more healthy person today because of her. She helped me understand myself better, taught me how to tap into my inner-strength, gave me the courage to be vulnerable and lean on my support network, and she showed me how to deal with life's challenges in a positive manner. The worst feeling is seeing somebody after a month and realizing this is not a great fit and you have to start all over again after you invested both time and money into the sessions. I personally always try to go to someone Ive found through a referral from a friend or family member! Steve was a referral from a business associate. I live in Tacoma and Steve is located in downtown Seattle. I wasn't concerned about the distance more concerned about his ability to help me through some of the issues that I was facing at the time. Steve was there for me during a very difficult time of my life. He challenged my thought process and brought forth another perspective as to what I was dealing with. When you're going through something like that it's not always easy to see these things on your own! He was straight forward and at times said things that were true but hard for me to see or hear at that moment. Later I would see things as he saw them! He gave me a book that would change my whole life and open my eyes to the situation I was in at that time. Bells went off like never before!! This in my opinion is what therapy is about! He goes beyond just a therapy session! With progression there's homework involved and there's things that you have to actively be doing on your own and he make sure of this! He takes notes and comes back to those notes to make sure that we're targeting the issues that were wanting to target! It's always well worth the hour drive from Tacoma to Seattle in rush hour! He does not smile and nod blankly leaving you feeling like the last hour was a colossal waste of time as you walk to your car. Steve engages with you and makes every effort to help you get to who/what/where you want to be as a person in this world. Steve has a talent for seeing past all the chaos and emotion surrounding a situation and targeting in on the base issue. I must admit there are times it is a bit unnerving for a control freak like myself, but ultimately I appreciate his gift and I know that it has served me well in situations where I felt stuck and unable to overcome what was troubling me. Steve was recommended to our family when my then 14 year old was having a rough time in her life. She saw him twice a week and I was involved in those sessions also. As time passed I felt that having a session of my own would benefit my daughter and myself. With Steve's guidance and insight my daughter overcame a lot of the issues that were effecting her life and eventually stopped her therapy. I found that my sessions helped me be a better mother, wife, sister and friend to all of the people around me. I decided to continue for a while. I have now been a client of Steve's on and off for 6 years. That may seem like a long time and you may be thinking to yourself, " WOW, 6 years and she's still having to see him?". Don't let the time frame fool you. I have stayed his client because being a mother of 6 presents a lot of challenges and I believe that having an outside, trained professional to sift through my life with and gather perspective enables me to conquer , with a little more grace, all that life throws at me on a daily basis. Yet I was motivated to try therapy one more time, with one more psychologist, only by the insistence of my wife. I'm very grateful that I did. I have now completed just under a year of therapy with Dr Sonnanburg, finally knowing, for the first time, that profoundly meaningful, lasting, fundamental changes have occurred with my thinking, general disposition, self-control, attitude, interpersonal communication skills and much more. And this is not only from my perspective. Julie is a FANTASTIC therapist…read more When I came upon her website, I was going through a very difficult, confusing time in my life where everything was coming to a head and the realization that I really couldn't work through it alone was not an easy one to swallow. I had contacted a few other therapists via email and contact forms on the internet and not a single one replied. Even though I wanted and needed to see someone, I was terrified. When I tried calling around to find someone, I would freak out and couldn't hang up fast enough even though it was just voicemail. One office with a lot of therapists wanted to wait list me, but nobody else returned my calls. When I saw Julie's webpage and read a bit about her, I could feel the panic dissipate some and I had a strong feeling that she was the one I was meant to see - even though she's a 30 minute drive (generally 45 because of i5 traffic at the time I see her). Julie replied to my email in record time. From the greeting and very first sentence, my feeling was confirmed. I was immediately happy instead of freaked out that she had a flexible schedule with time slots available that fit for me. I guess I was a little surprised as well because in my email to her I gave 4-5 specific topic matters that I knew would be big points during therapy (when and IF I decided to see someone) and she wasn't phased by what I'm dealing with. You harbor secrets and shame for so long that when telling someone for the first time, or even just someone that didn't already know, makes you imagine what their reaction may be to this horrid information.. and of course, you always think the worst. We tend to feel like nobody really understands - even others that went through the same things. Julie was able to schedule me for an appt, that was not long after our initial contact, to do the free intake session. I was very pleased that the first session was free so that I could be sure before making a commitment both emotionally and monetarily. When I arrived for the intake, the anxiety had begun to build up inside of me again and it took a lot of reasoning with myself to even get out of the car. As soon as she said "hello", I immediately began to relax. She offered me water and had tissue within reach of the comfortable sofa I was sitting in. (I say 'in' rather than on because it is very comfortable and welcoming). The atmosphere was soothing; beautiful in an understated way, with a "homey" feel. I imagine psychologists are taught lessons pertaining specifically to ambiance and that what Julie has put together is what others strive for. Fortunately, though; it all feels as though it came natural to her.. like she didn't have to TRY. In the past, I had seen two other therapists for short periods of time - one had over-the-top, blatantly expensive decor with gold accents and a hauty feel (he also wore a lot of bright yellow gold.. lol); the other was a small room in a converted basement that you went down a narrow set of stairs to get to with little more than a stiff, old antique chair and dusty books where the ceiling was too short for your average sized male and there was no door. Julie's office is just right, with unobtrusive bits of art and natural beauty that bring subtle relaxation. (IOW - Ya done good, Julie! Hahaa..) She is a great listener and has an amazing talent for remembering what you said 10 minutes ago, or even in sessions past, and connecting it will something you've said in the now. She doesn't do that dry, bored, not-sure-what-to-say or make-you-come-to-the-conclusion-yourself "why don't you tell me?"/"is that what YOU think?" bit EVERY TIME. She encourages, listens, reminds and helps me through things. She actually works for her money (which seems rare in any field these days), but it has never come across to me as 'work' for her at all. Sessions with Julie are like a long talk with a friend that actually cares what you have to say and how you're doing rather than perching in wait for her turn to talk. I never feel rushed and I always leave Julie's office feeling like we've made progress. She is flexible and easy-going, pleasant and intuitive, with a good sense of humor, great use of words, is insightful and wise beyond her years. I would proudly and happily *highly* recommend Julie Holt to anyone in search of a therapist. The only reason I no longer see him (other than the fact that I'm not having a hard time anymore) is because my stupid insurance company doesn't have him in-network so they pay very little. Michael is awesome and I'd recommend him to anyone. He is non-judgmental and can be gentle yet firm and persistent in helping you face your issues and be honest with yourself. He is loving and caring and inspirational. I'm not sure how many years of experience he has but I believe it's well over 20 years, maybe 25? He is experienced in serving the LGBT community and the straight community as well (I'm straight). His waiting room and office are comfortable, clean, welcoming and soothing. I highly recommend him!

To become a licensed hypnotherapist in the state of Washington requires paying a $150 fee, filling…read moreout a 5 page application, passing a criminal background check and taking a 4 hour online AIDS class. There's no hypnotherapist training required to be licensed, no ongoing training required and no checks that you have any training prior to being licensed. And the sole requirement to keep your license is to keep your clients information confidential. Kristin doesn't list a single college degree, certification or class she completed. Her training according to her website is whatever time she spent as a patient of John Connelly and some online NLP classes. She doesn't even have a permanent office. She's not even trained by John Connelly like she claims on her website, you can go to Rapid Resolution Therapy's website and view all the trained providers, she's not trained by them. I paid Kristin $375 for one session (I paid by check so got the discount as she charges even higher rates if you use a credit card). I asked her if hypnotherapy could make me worse and she said "no." If she truly believes that hypnotherapy always helps everyone I don't think she understands what she's doing. She totally messed me up, like I couldn't talk for days or get out of bed and then when I asked her to reverse whatever she did to me she told me if I didn't like her to find another hypnotherapist and not to contact her again. I filed a complaint with the BBB asking Kristin to tell John Connelly what she did to me so he can reverse it. When I contacted John Connelly about what Kristin did to me they told me they reverse what hypnotherapists do "all the time". Unfortunately Kristin never responded to my BBB complaint. I posted a review on the My Mind Talk Facebook page about my experience, Kristin called the police and told them I was threatening to kill myself (I wasn't). So a cop showed up at my house for the first time in my life because either Kristin was so upset over the review she tried to throw me in a mental hospital as punishment for writing it or she was so concerned about me that she seriously thought I would kill myself from what she did to me, but not concerned enough to reverse what she did to me that created this problem. A few weeks later Kristin figured out how to remove the review plugin from her Facebook page so the review no longer appears. In my entire life I've never had the cops show up at my house or had someone tell me not to contact them again until I met Kristin.
