AC died in the middle of the night. They came out the next morning and said my unit was too old…read morerepair (just over 20 years old), while ripping out something from the power box and seemingly breaking a component in there. They said they could try to do a repair for about $1.3k but that they couldn't guarantee the repair would be effective because of the condenser. They then tried to sell me on their highest end heat-pump for about $24k, which was too much for our needs, since our furnace was also functional. We ended up choosing a basic AC replacement for around $9k. They were able to install the new unit two days later. However, on the day of the install, they saw some surface level rust on the furnace heat exchanger and tried to get me to replace it for an additional $4k. When I said no, they backed off and recommended a CO alarm (which we already have). It felt like I was being heavily taken advantage of because I was in a dire situation. The installation went fine, but my experience of being pressured and hard sold to during the process made it feel like I was being milked for every penny they could get out of me. Take this as a precaution to check your HVAC AC/furnace/heat pump regularly, and get multiple quotes before deciding on work. If you go with this company, they will seemingly do an effective job, but they will try their best to get as much money out of you as possible.

This review is loooong overdue but I just came across my notes on this fiasco so better late than…read morenever. In May of 2022 I contacted Elite hvac because my AC was not working. The first day (Wed) Frank showed up but he was not able to fix it so he said he could come back the next day. He came back the next day (Thurs) hours after he said he would be there and he still couldn't fix it. He came back a third day (Fri) but he didn't even tell me when he arrived I just knew bc I saw he had set up his ladder and then after awhile I go check on him and he's gone, didn't tell me when he arrived and didn't tell me he was leaving. I called the company and they reached out to see where he was and he said he had left to another job but that he would come back and finish. Later this same day on Friday I get a text saying someone else was going to come the next morning. I had not been informed of this before the text so I was not able to be home as I had plans. Frank then texts me on Saturday saying he has all the parts he needs now and was heading over to fix it. I have no idea what he did that day as I was not home. Then I get a text Saturday night that Frank was going to come on Monday (again I never agreed to this date). So I wasn't there Monday but I know Frank did show up bc when I got home later that day my fuse box was out and he didn't even tell me! Luckily I don't recall my food or anything going bad even tho it was super hot out. That was Monday when the fuse box went out. Then on FRIDAY I get a text from Frank telling me that my AC should be up and running and that oh by the way my breaker tried. DAYS later he lets me know that my breaker tripped. So at this point it had been over 1 week since he started working on my AC and it was still not working. So then Wednesday (2 weeks after the initial appointment) they finally sent a different person, Raul. He got there on time and started everything from the beginning. He fixed it within minutes and even waited awhile to make sure it actually cooled. He also took my payment for the part that Frank had "fixed". I'm convinced I probably didn't even need the part but at this point they had been out there like 6 times so they probably didn't want to back track. Then five days later my AC stopped working again and this time the owner Juan was able to come out the next day and fix it quick. He said it was a loose wire. So all in all it took 3 weeks with Elite to get my AC working again. Glad Raul and Juan were able to fix it promptly the times they did go out instead of Frank but not a great overall experience on my end.

I I run a commercial pool called paragon to come out to diagnose an issue with a heat pump. the first tec sent out could not figure out issue then sent a supervisor. told me issue was with a factory weld. showed me where it was. I called manufacture of pump not covered of course . they welded leak point. everything else looks good only leak. pressure tested added coolant $1500 quote not fixed still leaking coolant. sent out another tec $800 told me a different part is bad do not remember part. ok they ordered part tec comes back to install says no this is not going to fix it $500 bill. ask for some help on the bill since they did nothing to fix my situation. told all they can do is give me a credit on replacement. ok what cost to replace gave a me quote for 18k with 2k credit. asked if they were qualified to do replacement with state they said since it was just the heater it would be fine. did not feel right called state of Illinois they said do not use them they are misleading me and I would be opening up myself to fines. I called paragon back explained I could not use them for replacement could they adjust what I was billed. told by Steve no their contracts says very clearly then do not guarantee repairs. they do not even like doing repairs and always try to talk customers out of them. They will only give me a credit for future service. when I mentioned what the state said he said well we are not a pool company. I would rather be out 3 thousand dollars and never do business with them again. I do not write reviews very often and gave them many chances to make it right but they would rather have the money.
