I am one of those people that only call for service when there is a major issue I cannot troubleshoot. For this call my A/C wasn't blowing cool air. I called Ragano and the tech that came out was able to troubleshoot my issue to a leak in the coil. John came out a few days later to provide options with estimates and I made the decision to replace my furnace and coil. My experience overall was exemplary. From speaking with Andrea setting up times and warranty questions to the team that came over to complete the install. On Thanksgiving morning our furnace went out. I called the company that we normally used, but got no response right away. I called a couple different places and finally got through to Ragano Heating. They were able to come out shortly after I called. Esteban the technician found the problem, but didn't have the part to fix it in his truck. I left a message with Ragano on their website. They called me within 2 hours and said that they can come out and take a look at my furnace, but gave me a few things to try before scheduling an appointment. In addition to checking the batteries and changing the filter (which I had already tried), they asked what kind of filters I was using. I was using the accordian type filter and they recommended to use the thinner non accordian kind. So after a trip to Home Depot for a $1.25 filter, the problem was immediately fixed! Ragano also suggested if I used a portable humidifier that I should change the filter more often, probably once a month. Honest and great advice! I'm definitely keeping their number handy for any future issues I may have with my furance or AC! read more

I reached out to Ragano heating and air for assistance replacing and old furnace and AC during this Covid-19 pandemic. They answered my email quickly and followed it up with a phone call(Andrea). They were able to see exactly what was needed via email with pictures of the existing unit. Girl on phone was not very informative, kept saying she thinks, not sure, and would have to call someone and call me back. Once she contacted me later she stated this company didn't service DuKane furnaces. I asked why? She didn't know, said I had to call a DuKane dealer. That goodness I didn't listen to hear, I called J & D in Bartlett and they came right out. Yes John I called 10/30 around 3:00 PM and the lady who answered told me she'd have to see if your company services DuKane furnaces. She then called me back, and said you don't service DuKane. First impressions usually tell you what you can expect from a company in terms of service. I found Ragano on Yelp and decided to give them a call based on all of the stellar reviews. Definitely not disappointed. I had the pleasure of speaking with Colin (sp?) who was courteous, friendly and professional. He was able to schedule an appointment for me in a very timely manner which was important to me because my air conditioner went out and the forecast is calling for temperatures on the 90's soon. I was hoping that if the technician they sent me was half that good, I'd be in good shape. On the day of my appointment I got a text message to notify me that technician Esteban was on his way to my house (and on time, I might add). Once again, great first impression. He was friendly, respectful, and professional. He took the time to explain to me in detail everything I needed to know about my AC unit and the work that needed to be done. At no point did I feel like he was trying to sell me services I didn't need. He was very competent and knowledgeable. I've found that service in just about every area of business these days has absolutely gone downhill, so it was really refreshing to receive such great service from the Ragano staff. I was very impressed by the fast and effective service from Ragano. Sunday about 6pm I noticed that our air conditioning wasn't cooling the house. The outside unit was running with no air coming through the vents. After poking around in the basement and online for a while, I decided to call a professional. I left a voicemail at 7:49 pm Sunday. They returned my call THREE minutes later. After a brief conversation, we scheduled a service visit for 8 am Monday. Essentially, I had an appointment before there was even time to worry about the breakdown. So these guys made me feel pretty good before they had even shown up. Our technician Mike arrived at 8:09. Around 8:25 he had diagnosed the problem as the furnace fan (not the a/c unit itself--whew). At 8:48, my vents were blowing cold air again. He did some additional testing and wrapup, debriefed me, processed the payment, and was out the door by 9:15. So all told, my air conditioning saga was resolved in only 13.5 hours, with a good night's sleep in the middle. I could not have been more pleased with the speedy resolution. Plus, both Mike (in person) and John (on the phone) were courteous, patient, and helpful. Mike mentioned a few things to consider doing with both the heating and cooling apparatus, but by no means did I get any kind of "sell", soft, hard, up, or otherwise. Also, these guys aren't like some other small outfits that jot your request on a torn slip of paper and have never heard of voice mail. Those guys' work might be fine, but their administrative practices (or lack thereof) can make you nervous. Ragano is completely on top of that stuff. I already mentioned the fast return call. After hanging up the phone, I received an email confirmation of my appointment within fifteen minutes. The next morning, I received a second confirmation about 25 minutes before the appointment to say that the technician (including his full name) was on the way. Within fifteen minutes of Mike's departure, I received a third email containing an invoice and a detailed description of the diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, Mike had a tablet through which we submitted a credit card payment. My problem turned out to be minor, but thanks to my initial experience, I'll think of Ragano first next time--whether it's another repair or a bigger project. read more

Very nice experience. The technician, John, diagnosed the system and quickly found out the root cause came from the burn down of the transformer. And he also found out the wire got messed up which potentially caused the problem. He changed a new transformer and fixed the wire issue. Their 5 star rating is accurate. Reasons: 1. Contacted them on Yelp at 1AM on New Years Day and received a response within minutes from the owner. 2. Did not try to gouge me by saying that I needed emergency services right away. Was reassured that problem was not a safety issue and that it could wait (Family could sleep safely). 3. Did not try to push their services. 4. Scheduling by email was fast and easy. 5. Technician arrived on time, was very knowledgeable and quickly diagnosed the issue. 6. Technician did not try to oversell anything. 7. Technician stayed extra and went the extra mile to fix something which was not covered by the agreed service out of his concern, and did not charge for it. 8. Technician was professional and polite throughout the whole process. There you have it. I would not hesitate to use them in the future. The only downside is that they don't offer more services (plumbing, electrical) as I would use them for everything. It is very hard to find honest, reliable service done with integrity. So let me preface this by saying I've known the owner for almost 20 years. I'm a believer that if your friend has a business you should support them even if the price is higher. If the work is shoddy though, you owe it to them to let them know so they can improve. HOWEVER... This is not the case. Ragano Heating & Air has done wonderful work at a cheaper price then some competitors I've had quote me. Ragano has worked at 3 different homes of mine. All of which did excellent work. This last time the AC went out. I tried myself to do what I could to fix the issue. I soon realized this was beyond my scope of practice and needed professionals. I booked an appointment at 10pm. That's right 10pm. Ernesto was at my house promptly between 11am-1pm. He was courteous, and was Covid conscious. He quickly diagnosed the problem (chewed wires). Gross. He also showed me how inefficient my ac Unit was preforming. Within a short period of time the AC was up and running. Interestingly enough my house seemed cooler at 75 then when I set it at 70. Like I said he made the 24year old unit more efficient. The unit is living on borrowed time. However, you can bet when it dies I'll be calling Ragano to replace the unit.
