Definitely a unique experience! I got a gift certificate for a 60 min float pod experience and decided to try it out. What is a float spa? You go into an individual pod filled with water super-saturated with epsom salt that's set to a temperature of 95 degrees which is equivalent to human skin temperature. The benefits of using these pods are for relaxation, reduction of pain and inflammation, and stress relief. Once you're in, you basically float in zero gravity. It's hard not to fall asleep because it's so relaxing haha! Customer service was excellent. The young lady helping us was friendly and efficient. It was very easy to book over the phone. You have to call them to get into and out of the parking garage but someone always picked up the phone. The pods were clean and the shower stocked with all essentials including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and towel. Some tips: - come dressed in casual clothes and sandals so you can use in the shower and in and out of the pod - bring a brush to comb your hair after (they have a hair dryer there) - put in the moldable plugs before you go into the shower and pod to ensure they are tightly in Would definitely recommend everyone experience this at least once! I want to preface this by saying I came here genuinely looking forward to a relaxing experience. What I got instead was a health hazard that I am now pursuing through the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health. I got into my float tank and something felt off. I got out mid-session and started looking around. What I found and documented with approximately 40 photographs was one of the most unsanitary commercial facilities I have ever seen in my life. There was visible black mold growing inside the float tank itself. On the lid seam. On the interior walls. On the door seal. This is the enclosed space that customers pay to lie inside and breathe recycled air for up to 90 minutes. The shower rooms had black mold covering the grout on every wall, every floor, and every corner. The ceiling panels had rust bleeding through them. The HVAC vent had visible mold and rust buildup on the filter screen, which means contaminated air is being actively circulated to every room in the building. The walls had paint blistering and bubbling off, which is what happens when moisture and mold are growing behind the wall surface, not just on it. When I contacted the business and requested a refund, they told me that what I photographed was not mold and was not dangerous. They refused to issue a refund. I have filed a formal complaint with the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health requesting an immediate inspection and suspension of operations until professional mold remediation is completed and the facility passes reinspection. Overview: great first experience, very relaxing and unique ---- I've always wanted to do a sensory deprivation chamber and found this place online. There is reserved parking in their lot which is great instead of finding street parking downtown. Then you can take the elevator up. The front desk person was very kind and helpful with any questions I had. You go into a room to watch a short informational video and there is also a flyer with information you can read before taking your float. You can choose from the music options they give you or play your own. Unfortunately, the Bluetooth speakers were broken at the time I did my appointment (back in December 2024) so they gave me a waterproof phone holder so that I could play it directly from my phone and have it floating in there with me. There's a bathroom in the hallways and in the room there is a shower, soaps, and lotion. They also have this pillow floaty that keeps your head up when you're floating inside the tank. Honestly, I didn't really like the pillow and preferred letting my head naturally rest in the water. Since there's so much salt in the tank, your body floats easily. The water was also warm, a temperature that wasn't too hot or too cold which I enjoyed. Inside of the tank they have buttons to change the lighting and to turn it off. I opted to turn my lights off and was super excited to enjoy my time and meditate while I was in there. I was so relaxed I ended up quickly falling asleep and hadn't even known it hahah! I wish I was awake to enjoy it consciously but I had a great time regardless :) ---- Overall: the quality of my experience was great all around, I had a lot of fun and fell asleep without even realizing it (which apparently is a very common thing that happens here!), you can find some deals online if the price is too expensive for your tastes, but I'd recommend trying this out at least once in your life read more

The last time I floated was before COVID, so it's been a while. This location is decent, but I found the actual pods to be just okay. As a tall person, I found it hard to find a position in the pod where I wasn't touching one of the sides. To get that real free floating experience, you really need to float free of anything touching your body. I have definitely floated in larger pods. Plus, here the water is kept after each person and only the epsom salt and purifiers are added, at other float spas they completely flush the water after each client. The 'lobby' was small and not as inviting as it could have been, you know to get you in the mood for your float. The staff however was great and super helpful, but this spa makes you go thru a bunch of forms and videos before you float, so come early, at least 20 minutes. After the float, once again, not much of a cool down space (just the same entry lobby) and the so called oxygen bar is little more than a mild version of aroma therapy in a tube for your nose. I am a complete advocate of floating and all the benefits it has for your body and mind, but I can't really recommend this place, there have got to be better float spas in the San Diego area. read more

I am a Vet and wanted to try it out on Veteran's Day since this happens to be my only day off in 17 days (two jobs). I tried to call but they don't answer. The claim to call people back throughout the day in their message... Then when you hang up, an automated text message is sent. I attached a screen shot... I called October 30th to book an appointment on November 11. The text said: "I have forwarded your message to the front desk, they'll get in touch with you as soon as possible" No call, no nothing. Today is November 7 and I called to try to book again. Would have tried again sooner, but been working doubles the last 4 days.. Same thing. Floating was awesome today. The San Diego location is smaller than the others but they are BIG in hospitality. Bailey was amazing and was very accommodating to the four of us who came to float together. She was so patient and answered the newbys' questions and took her time with us as well. First time visitor. I went in knowing meditation is not my strong suit so I anticipated only staying in half the time. Staff and environment were really chill. We were there very early and they were kind enough to let us start early. The pod is huge and super comfortable to float in. I'm really not claustrophobic but the pitch black, ear plugs in, no music playing really got to me. I ended up putting in the towel to crack the pod and that helped with the feeling of being free and getting a cool breeze. The room was blazing for me but only 83. Love the private showers before and after. Loved the oxygen bar after. I left feeling refreshed and chill. My friend left feeling like a new person hah. Concept is great. Service and facility need improvement. 1st True Rest float. Floated at Reboot in SF that was 5+ stars. The good - floating in a quiet space is amazing! Helped relieve back pain and get real rest. Free convenient parking! Beautiful decor in office and spa room. Needs improvement- I recommend for first timers you make it 1 1/2 hour appointment. That would make it more clear that you really do require 1/2 hour to go through orientation. Floor in spa room was gritty At Reboot they gave out slippers. Felt much cleaner. Here's the biggest thing: my lower lady parts burned a little bit. This didn't happen at Reboot. I would not consider becoming a member until floor is cleaner and the float is burn free. read more

So I actually had not heard of float therapy until I saw a Groupon ad for it. It sounded interesting so I decided to look more into it. I looked up places in San Diego that offered them and checked out all their websites. I read the FAQs and watched at least a good 10 videos on YouTube about the benefits. A couple of days after my research, I found that I wanted to try a float session at True REST given their awesome reviews and detailed website. Right before I was going to purchase, I decided to look on Groupon to see if there was a deal for this specific place, and there WAS! Woo hoo! If it's your first time, I recommend checking there first. I scheduled an appointment very easily, with a friendly staff over the phone. She answered my remaining questions I had and I felt very safe about giving it a try, even though we're in the middle of this covid outbreak. I showed up early on my appointment date and after going around the block a couple of times, I finally found the entrance to the parking structure. I couldn't see the address so I struggled a bit to find a logo or sign to point me in the right direction. Once inside I was pleasantly surprised at the welcoming atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff member who helped me out. I filled a couple of forms on an iPad that was wiped down, and the staff member was wearing a face mask and gloves. I went into the room to watch the video for first timers, and then was shown to my pod room. The room had its own shower inside, and a lock on the room door for your privacy. You are asked to shower (avoid conditioner) before entering the pod. Once I stepped in and sat down, I was amazed at how effortlessly my legs were sort of just floating up on their own. I laid back and I did struggle a bit to find the most comfortable position for me. I would say about 20 minutes in is when I finally started to relax a bit more. The hour session went by quickly, but it was such an amazing experience. It was really nice to have an hour to dedicate to myself, and relax without worrying about anything else going on. I enjoyed it so much, that I signed up for a monthly membership and I'm looking forward to trying it at least 2 more times, so I can fully experience the benefits of the float therapy and go in with the knowledge of exactly what to expect. Had never done a "float" before, though I've floated in plenty of hot tubs and hot springs. The place was okay, not as elegant as it appears in their ads, of course, more of an office suite. Got there early, watched the video (which was well done and amusing) and was shown to my suite. The tub was large enough - I'm a fairly large guy. I guess I was hoping for a bit more of a transcendental experience. I lay down, closed my eyes, listened to the music and the silence, stared at nothing for an hour. I had my first float today and it was incredible! Starting with the easy booking with Mandy and then my tour from Caleb- the entire process was smooth and welcoming. The facility is beautiful and it feels like a spa. The private rooms are very spacious, with their own showers, and the pods themselves are much larger than I anticipated. I like that they ease you into the float with some music and light (which you can turn off). It truly is a surreal feeling being that buoyant! Very hard to explain... After the float I felt soooo relaxed- I honestly had no idea what to expect and I was very surprised to feel THAT good. I ended my session with a little time at the oxygen bar and walked, literally FLOATED, out of there. My coworker commented on how completely relaxed and refreshed I looked when she saw me right after. I recommend this place to everyone and anyone! Step into a Cocoon pod and float in water. Yes, that is exactly what I did. After stepping into the spa and watching the introductory video that is super informative with neat little graphic cartoons. Explaining the process of the float spa, cocoon pod. Once you walk into you space, the staff explains how the cocoon pod works and where the controls are. And then you start your float experience. This is very relaxing. I was skeptical about being in a pod with the lid closed. Part of the float experience is about sensory deprivation. Lights off and you float in water that is temperature sensitive (not hot and not cold, but just about the same temperature as your body.) The water is basically filled with salts that help your body. This is very relaxing. You have zero gravity on your body. And you can feel your body decompress. You do not have to turn off the lights, there is a control that you can use to keep the light on and even change the color of the light. Also music is playing in your pod, however you can choose to shut it off. I really liked that you could control the lights and sound, as well as the keep the lid open or closed. One hour in the cocoon felt like minutes. My body was relaxed. With nothing to distract me, I let my mind empty and be clear. No distractions of the outside world. This was an amazing experience. My body felt loose and my skin felt AMAZING from the water! I purchased my Cocoon Spa time through Amazon deals. I would go back and pay full price. They let you sign up for emails, which was neat because on Mothers Day weekend, I received an email with a coupon inside that was basically a half price deal. The spa also offers massage's. My beau and I wanted to give this a shot, so we went to buy groupons & get our float on. Unfortunately, after I purchased mine they were sold out! I called and Antonio told me he would honor the groupon price for us & we booked an appointment right away. We received some basic instructions & waited for our appointment date to arrive! We showed up early & found parking in their lot right away with the help of a friendly valet. (They validate & it's free.) We went up the elevator & found the suite right away, as it is directly outside the elevator. We were greeted warmly, offered tea & we sat down to register & watch an informative video. Wow, this place always impresses me. After going a few times my partner and I have gotten monthly memberships since we love it so much! There is parking below for free. Once you've parked in the garage below all you have to do is walk up the stairs to the first possible level and it's the first door directly to the left. For your first session that have a fun information all video to watch on an iPad and there is a waiver included as well. In the video it gives you step by step instructions on how to use the tank. In the lobby there is tea, water, bars, and other little snacks while you wait. It's very well decorated with white furniture and colorful pillows. I've only met two of the bohemian/ hippie looking employees. One man with a very distinct accent, who is so kind and well informed about the pods. And the other was a relaxed and sweet young woman that I've had some fun conversations with. Customer service seems very important here and I love it! Before entering the flotation tank you shower (there is soap, shampoo, and conditioner inside). Then there are ear plugs to use and petroleum jelly. Since the water used is salt water, if you have a known cut you'll definitely want to cover it with petroleum jelly to cover the cut. Once you've entered the tank (naked), you have the option of using a neck rest. I DEFINITELY recommend using it. The first time I floated I didn't use it and my neck was tweaked for the rest of the week. Inside you have the option of keeping the pod open or closed, you can play music, or even keep the lights on if you prefer. Then after using the tank, you shower once again. In the area outside of the tank rooms there are all the toiletries you'd need after including a hair dryer. Other notes... there are two tanks, each tank can hold one person. The reason why you can float without a struggle is due to the sense amount of salt in the water. That's why they recommend not touching your face during the session because the salt will stun your eyes. Overall, this a great place to decompress and relax. Go, go, go! You'll love it! read more

UPDATE: Ahhhh I love this place! Been floating here for a couple years and now they just got cryotherapy too! Never even heard of cryo before Cocoon but I'm already hooked. It's amazing for sore muscles, and in my case, lower back pain. Whenever I'm sore from the gym or my back goes out, I just come in for a quick cryo sesh and its awesome how much better my body feels. Just 3 minutes of freezing your butt off in this fancy cryo machine and boom, your muscles are rejuvenated. In regards to floating, I just can't get enough of this place. I've tried floating at other spas around SD but there's a reason I've had a monthly membership at Cocoon for almost 2 years now. The quality of the tanks, the cleanliness, friendly staff and just the relaxing energy of this spa is unbeatable. I also love bringing friends/family here who have no clue about floating. It's awesome to see the joy and relaxation on there face when they come out of a 60 min float session. A few tips for new floaters...my biggest problem when first floating was my mind is constantly racing, so many thoughts running through my head so it was hard to relax at first. I found that if I just focus on my breathing by counting my breaths, slow/deep inhales and exhales, this helped block out other thoughts and I would quickly slip into that relaxing, tranquil brain state. First off, what an amazing place to float in mineral water in your own private capsule. No disturbance, just silence and peace. It's the perfect way to relax and relieve all the day's stress. The first time, it's weird and takes some getting used to. The silence, the claustrophobic feeling, the complete loneliness, and the unsure feeling of being trapped in. However, you will begin to like it more and more. The feeling is such a relief of bad energy. Secondly, most importantly, True Float appreciates the service members. If you are active duty, they offer a free session every 6 months. You just have to make an appointment and have your military ID. What a great way to support the military! These service members can definitely use some floating time to relax and destress. Whether you are military or not, definitely give this place a try! Staff is great and friendly and location is not too bad. Free parking, but it is a bit confusing so just be sure to call them and ask about parking. If someone in the garage claims to be parking attendant and is trying to make you pay for parking, don't do it. Call True Float, could be imposter. It happened to me and the guy, who did not dress like a parking attendant, said I had to pay $20. Good thing I had asked about parking before hand and knew that wasn't true. I had never heard of a float spa and was a bit hesitant but so glad that I decided to try it. I thought I might feel claustrophobic in the tank but that was not the case at all! As soon as I got in I wanted to close the lid (which is very easy to open) and even wanted the music and the lights off soon after I was in. I'm amazed at how buoyant salt water is too! We visited on a recommendation and we loved it so we signed up. We went several more times but booking is a little bit of trouble and our last two bookings that we had accumulated after cancelling the service were given to someone else without notice and we showed up to no appointment.Twice. I saw a few recent posts that there is selective undesirable preferences given to groupon bookings and I believe cancelling your membership falls into an unfavorable category too. Veterans should be given even better treatment but apparently they are not. Also after we cancelled they started billing us again in 6 months (maybe some people don't notice?) and it took filing a dispute with VISA and a month to get the credit. Then it happened again. Same process. Then after several months they tried it again! I called, left a message, and received an email reply that it was due to the quarantine. They evidently reinstated all memberships and billed another $99! Nice cash influx idea but not very ethical. A week has passed and still no credit. One or two errors is understandable, three is a pattern of disreputable billing. Don't entangle yourself with this. While the spa and staff are great, the trouble with billing and booking cancels out the joy. We had planned to go again since the spa is spotless and well appointed, staff, and parking are great too but after this experience we'll have to find somewhere else. Here's the email where action to be taken was claimed but it was not done. Hi SR, I noticed that there was a missed call from you this morning regarding your account. As mentioned in our previous communications we cannot process account settings, changes or billing changes over the phone- It has to be in writing- so email is the best method. Also, if you do need to reach us by phone, our spa hours are Tues-Sunday 10am-9pm and Monday 4pm-9pm. Hopefully with this you can reach us a little easier! That said, I looked into your account and I am working on a solution for this issue. I am not sure why your account became active after it's immediate cancellation on April 23, but my guess is that it somehow was associated with our member base freeze for the pandemic closure, so when that was reactivated- somehow your account was also reactivated. So I refunded that last payment, and apologize for the inconvenience. I also reinstated the cancellation, so we will not run into this issue again in the future. The past resolution was handled with a little snotiness citing the same policies. Taking my money and providing NO SERVICE or product is no problem. Terminating the billing that periodically reinstates itself, BIG problem. Try calling them and see if you can reach anyone, you will get an automated text back but then your appointments are arbitrarily cancelled. Hmmm. I'm done wasting my time on this. I have been to the float spa two times the first time it was amazing. So I scheduled to go back and I was disgusted because I found mold or something black floating around in the water it wasn't just a little bit it was plenty I was so disgusted I walked out. read more

Today I had my first float and can't wait to go back, this is a totally different experience only comparable to a full hour Savasana or even better!! The place itsef it's amazing, just walking through the door you get a peaceful feeling, not to mention the really cool owners Natty & Jose, these guys definitely know what they're doing ;) read more

Terrible!!! As I exited the pod, I noticed that there was mold all around the caulking in the inside. Disgusting. Showed the worker the mold and she says it's just the cleaner that makes the caulking look like that. Its just discoloration she says. Right!!! Never ever seen caulking turn black due to a cleaning agent. Stay away!!! Very unsanitary. Will be filing a report with the County Health. If Yelp removes this, you know why. This is my second time floating (first time with true REST) and I agree with the saying that the floats get better each time. The first time I was really unsure of what to expect and I felt like I never got to the full relaxation point, but this time I was able to get there. The location is right off of 4th in hillcrest and they have a parking garage so you don't have to bother with street parking. The facility itself is small, but clean and inviting. My float was very relaxing and helped to relieve some minor aches I had from a recent vacation. I was able to sleep so good after my float, but was really sleepy the next day as well. I utilized the yelp check in for the free oxygen session after my float which was refreshing. I didn't opt to sign up for a membership, but I would think about returning in the future. Best advice I can give is try not to over think it and just relax. read more

I really wish I could give this place 5 stars. I want to, really. I'll start with the positive. I was greeted by Amir and checked out by Ross. They were both wonderful. I was comfortable with them both and they provided excellent customer service. The video in the beginning was great because it gave suggestions on what positions to use to float based on your physical needs. The facility was warm, clean, and welcoming. I was never too warm or too cold. The shower was in your float pod room which was great; complete privacy. Everything was explained thoroughly. I was so excited to try this for my first time. I was seeking complete sensory deprivation. This is where we lose a star. The lights turned off, the music turned off, and I looked forward to this hour long time to completely relax. However, the location of this spa makes it impossible to cut out environmental noise. There are 2 hospitals with emergency services off Washington Ave. I heard sirens, through my ear plugs, through the water, during my float, multiple times. I also heard motorcycles. I heard doors slamming, which I assume was coming from a different floor since the employees were conscious to quietly close the doors. Lastly, I heard some plumbing: the filters or the water running, I'm not sure which. None of these things persisted long, but when it happens, it's enough to take you out of your empty head space. I slept well last night. I felt relaxed afterward. I would do it again, but maybe not at 5:30 pm when everyone is getting out of work and the streets are overflowing with noise pollution. You can't avoid the sirens, but maybe you'll get lucky and have no ambulance rush by during your float. read more
