It seems like everyone else had a great experience with True South Solar. Mine was...different. We talked with them at the Home Show and were really excited to have them come out and give us a quote, so we scheduled an appointment with them for in April. Appointment time came and went. The guy was a no show. Didn't call, either. A couple of hours after the appointment time, I called their office. Got the standard outgoing "sorry we missed your call blah blah blah" so I left the standard name-number-reason for calling message. Here we are in late June, and I'm still waiting for the call back. I would love to have solar panels with the energy storage battery system, but if they are this unreliable before we even get started, I will respectfully pass. I will continue to look for a company who actually wants to do business and respects their scheduling commitments. To waste my time (that I took off work for this appointment) and not even follow up with a return call tells me all I need to know. Kinda feels like dodging a bullet. read more

READ THIS BEFORE BUYING SOLAR! When putting all the money out for a solar system it's extremely important to hire a local company that has its own installers and that actually cares about solar. Four years ago I purchased a solar system not knowing what I was doing from a non-local company. Five months ago half the system quit working. I contacted the company and they kept ignoring my request for repair. Then I finally received an email that stated they were going bankrupt. I found out that a lot of companies sprang up to collect the government payout and after things dried up would take the money and run. Since I am paying a savings and loan I couldn't simply stop paying and I still owed over 17k. They referred me to the company they contracted with. That company blew me off, there's not much money in repair vs full installs. I tried a third company that I thought was local but turned out not to be and the contractor they hire could not repair my system. FYI, there are different manufacturers of systems and they are very different. Finally I found Truesouth solar, their customer service was friendly and helpful. They sent a knowledgeable tech out who was on staff and not an independent contractor. He fixed my system and it works perfectly now. Truesouth solar did not make much money off of me and yet treated me with concern and respect. If you are in southern Oregon and want to purchase a solar system I highly recommend them. Down the road if something goes wrong, you need to be able to count on support. I literally contacted every company in the Medford area and Truesouth solar was the only one that was willing and competent to help. read more

I recently purchased a solar system from True South Solar. I had received bids from two reputable local companies. Their price was similar. I decided to go with True South Solar because they use Sunpower panels which are highly rated, and they are a local company in business about ten years. Two of my neighbors had used True South for their solar panel project, and both were happy with the company. I was impressed with the follow-up. Matt, my sales rep, was very good about answering questions, both in person and via email. Once I made the decision to go forward with the project, there was very good communication between Matt, Aaron, the project manager, and the crew foreman. The actual installers knew what they were doing, and no one damaged my flower garden. So far, I am very happy that I hired True South Solar to install my solar panels. It's the best time to think about getting solar power. With incentives at the Federal, State and Local levels, this was a clear investment for us to make. The City of Ashland has cash incentives for solar, so if you can qualify for that, it can really accelerate your returns. But, things could start changing in 2018 based on current laws on the books, so 2017 is a good year to investigate. Other towns might have their own local incentives too. We did a 14-panel installation with True South Solar, and the end-to-end experience was truly top notch. We had a few meetings with Wade, one of their sales guys, and he could answer every question and go over details both broad and specific. After he spent time surveying our roof, and writing up a proposal, we knew it was a good thing to pursue. Installation was quick and the crew couldn't have been nicer or more courteous. They finished most of the work in a day, and now a lot of our energy needs are powered by the sun! Clean energy. Positive ROI. Easy end-to-end process! We went with True South Solar because they use the high-end panels that are made by SunPower, which has a higher efficiency over its lifetime. Since we also just installed a new roof recently, we wanted to get the most benefit for the longest period of time, and these panels were the way to go for us. After the no-pressure sales pitch, we were pretty convinced. Even if you're not sure yet, it's worth giving these guys a call and they can do a free assessment of what is possible for you. Partially choose True South Solar based on an offer from my company for a rebate. TSR said they were not in the program but gave me half of the rebate. After discussing panel placement, I had them install a 5.9kw system on my garage. They were able to install it early and had a large team of guys come out. Done in one day with inspection the next. We decided to go Solar mainly to set an example of planetary stewardship for our kids - from an economic perspective the payback period is pretty extended with our current electric rates. We picked TrueSouth mainly due to their panel technology, which provided both efficiency and long operating life. They installed in one day, and we have had no problems. We love the web-based monitoring of our panels. At one point the monitoring had a problem, and TrueSouth was able to resolve it remotely. We discussed battery backup solutions with them, but it seemed like that technology was too immature and too expensive, so we just got the panels and will revisit the battery backup solution later. It is annoying that our current solution will not work if the power is out (we have had a couple of very brief power outages since installing the panels). Overall, we are very happy with our system and would not hesitate to recommend TrueSouth. read more

True South Solar was great. We just moved to Medford and wanted Solar Panels installed quickly. We contacted a number of companies and everyone was booked until the Fall at the earliest - some until next year. One of them actually recommended True South. I love the SunPower panels they use - they are the highest performing ones on the market and they were able to size a system that should generate 100% of our needs. They were very easy to work with and were able to meet our desired schedule. From the time they started the installation to the point we were fully operational was one week, but several days of that were final inspections and approvals. The system is performing better than estimated and right now, even with all the smoke and haze we are generating more than we use. read more
