For me, if you list them, there were probably more things wrong than right with True Taste, but the one thing that mattered, the chicken, was truly good.....so upgrading to 4 stars. First, the good. Previous reviews criticized the chicken for being frozen. I don't know if the chicken was frozen. All I know is that the popcorn chicken took 10 minutes to cook to order. It was hot, crispy, juicy, and tasty. The chicken also came in a huge portion. Each portion is $6.99 (less if bought with combos). I thought there would be 5 or 6 little nuggets in each portion. Since we were starving and wanted to try different flavors, we ordered 3 portions. We were shocked when 3 huge tubs of chicken came out! The different "flavors" were a bit of a disappointment. They were just powdered toppings and kind of artificial tasting. Also artificial tasting? The bubble tea. This was some of the worst bubble I have ever had! I ordered the oolong tea. You could tell it was powdered and not fresh. At least 13 year old's vanilla flavor tea tasted a little better. The only seating are small counters and bar stools. It was fine for our quick late dinner, but this place might be better off with a few cafe tables and chairs. They do have the room. The lady at the counter did not speak much English but we were able to communicate well enough and she was eager to please. In summary, go for the chicken, not the bubble tea. read more

This place was a tasty try! It was nearby our rental house which was the first reason we tried it. We got the popcorn chicken (large pieces and delicious) and chicken tenders (crispy and the salt and pepper). The chicken was prepared fresh and everyone loved it. I heard a lot about this place. I've been looking for a local boba shop with little luck. Thankfully, I was told to check this place out. It's a small store in a strip mall and easy to overlook. My daughter wanted to come here because of the name. Fried chicken and bubble tea are 2 of her favorite things. So here we are! First off, I guess we did not realize that this place is mainly a pick-up/to-go set up. You can eat here, but it's a counter style seating arrangement. At first I was slightly surprised at how expensive it was BUT when our orders came out, I was wowed! You can order (A) chicken for $7; (B) Bubble tea for $4 or (C) Sides for $4. We opted to order a Combination A+B+C for $13.50. Depending on which combination you order, it's a savings of $0.50 - $1.50. We tried the spicy chicken steak which is 6 pieces of chicken! That was a lot more food than I was expecting. The chicken was spicy and crispy. We also got the crispy popcorn chicken and the salt/pepper popcorn chicken. Both were good as well. I would definitely get all of these again. Check out my photos to see the portion size. Regarding the bubble teas, I thought they were OK. The oolong tasted better than the Thai tea flavor which tasted powdery, if that makes sense. I visited this establishment for the first time today. The place was so cute and clean. The staff was very nice. I ordered the spicy chicken wings, a side of fries and Passionfruit Boba. The only thing I may have to think twice about is I figured I would get at least 5 wings instead of 4, but I paid about $12 so I guess that was a good price for what I received. The chef handles the chicken meat daily and right after taking my order, he deep-fried my chicken wings right away with the fresh ones. Very different than those I bought from the fast food such as KFC or Carl's Jr. , heard they 80% cooked a bulk amount of the chicken beforehand and fried just to let the chicken completely cooked whenever they needed. This has to be one of my favorite boba tea shop with great fried chicken. Their boba is to die for. I recommend the smoothie boba because you get so much concentrated flavor profile with the chewy boba( or pearl). They also make fried chicken which very delicious. I always get the popcorn chicken. Honestly a little hidden gem. I'm not a huge fan of boba, but my son and I wanted some chicken. He got the kids chicken tenders and French fries and they were delicious- he and I both loved it. I wanted to try something different and got the plum chicken wings and they were amazing! They were fried with some plum seasoning which I've never had before. There were 7 in the container. So good!! We had the thai tea which was right on target- not too sweet and the boba was perfectly cooked. The chicken tenders are like katsu chicken- super crispy outside and juicy inside. The popcorn chicken is like tempura style, they're larger about one inch cubes with thin crispy battered outside and juicy whole chicken inside. We loved the plum flavor (a lovely sweet and sour balance), all the flavoring are shaken on powder flavors but it really works. We also tried the spring rolls which are delicious as well, perfect size per spring roll- the ratio of filling to wrapper is well balanced. They have three sauces as well- bbq, onion, and sweet chili. I LOVED the onion sauce and the sweet chili (isn't overly spicy) for the spring rolls and we didn't test the bbq because the chicken was so juicy we didn't need it. All of the servings are HUGE. I was worried between two of us it wouldn't be enough but we ended up having to take most of the popcorn chicken home. We will definitely be back! read more

I don't know if the batter has a strange spice, or what, but it was basically inedible. They do not serve any beverages other than bubble tea. So if you don't like bubble tea, prepare to be thirsty. It came out and they couldn't even close the top on the container...same with the onion rings! It may not be a five star restaurant, but it's good value for the price. The chicken had a good flavor and crunch...not overly "spicy." As an opening special it also came with a free bubble tea. I ordered some chicken and onion rings. The chicken was okay and the onion rings were from frozen, but tasty. You do get a lot for what they charge but in the end it just was not worth it to me. They offed me a choice of sauces when I got my order, but I opted to have it without as none of them sounded like they would go with it. As I don't drink bubble tea I got my order to go and had it at home. We ate almost half the chicken and rings and the rest went in the refrigerator for later. In the end I threw it away.
