Trueman's is a family owned bar and grill in Fenton. You could almost call it a dive, but it is too clean! A great place for locals to go, watch a game on the multitude of televisions in the place to games and the great food and drink. Service is quick and friendly, the waitstaff are all very nice. Daily specials, and an extensive menu. I had the hamburger and homemade chips today. The chips were crisp and salted to perfection. The burger is a full 8oz. Fun spot! Went here for lunch and enjoyed the food and beverage. I was very pleased they served Yuengling on draft at the proper cold temperature. Dining space outside was perfect for the weather we were having and has heaters installed for the cooler temps too. I had the Ham & Cheese sandwich with the tater tots as a side and it was really good. Nice thick cut ham and just the right amount of cheese to make it a perfect H&C. Nice lil bar with good food. Our car broke down and we were able to get it into this parking lot and decided to take a dinner break. Note that there are multiple food options in this parking lot but we made a good choice with Truemans. We started with happy hour nachos and they were good. I was excited to learn they had a meatloaf dinner special and that is what I opted for. No gravy on mine. The meatloaf was thick and tasty, the potatoes were amazing. Hubby ordered a hot ham and cheese and enjoyed it. We finished with funnel fries - stress eat much?! lol - and those were SO GOOD! Def splurge on those if you are around here! Service was standard. There were a few employees working the whole area and training an employee as well. Food all arrived very timely. Didn't love that the smoking area is outside tables directly in front of the door and you have to walk through that to get inside. read more

Once again the food doesn't disappoint. The pizza was as awesome as always. Crisp crust with lots of toppings. Meatball sub was the Tuesday special and my dad said it was phenomenal!! 6 tasty meatballs with a ton of sauce. Fries were good and the BBQ sauce was also. This is a local bar & pub in the St.Louis area with some great food and fabulous service ! The beer was ice cold and the place was busy for a weekday for lunch which is always a good sign :) we were treated with some hometown, mid west smiles and a lot of people with some good manners. I found out later that day when I was visiting local family in town, my family almost put Trueman's out of business back in the early 2000's when they had kids & family night Thank you Trueman's we will be back ! read more

The steak wrap here is a hit every single time I get it without fail. I usually have my coworkers go pick it up but I went inside for the first time and the bartenders were all so sweet and helpful. They didn't seem bothered that myself and my coworker took up seats at the bar while we waited for our to go orders, which at other places I have definitely encountered. It's a cute, not so hole in the wall bar because it was really clean inside and didn't give gross vibes like some dive bar and grills are. My wife and I tried this place after many of her friends suggested it saying "It was underrated". My first impression is that they need to move the smoking section away from the front door. Never like having to walk through smoke to get in to a non-smoking place. Inside was bright and clean inside. The bartender said to sit where we wanted to. We found a booth, seated ourselves, and a waitress came over right away. My wife usually gets water and I like to try new beer. This waitress knew everything that was on tap and in bottles. I ended asking for a taste of something new. When she brought my wife her water I had my taste and ordered the beer right after (it was good). I like that places offer tastes without requiring you to buy a flight. By the time she came back we were ready to order. I could see how this place might get loud with a handful of video games and over a dozen screens but it was not so the afternoon we went. Was nice not to have to yell across a table. Our food came out quickly and looked good. I enjoyed my Philly Cheese Steak. It was on very fresh bread and had just enough meat and seasoning. My wife enjoyed her Rubin. We both liked her tater tots - she commented it was the best tots she had in a long time. I had a side of vegetables that were ever so slightly over done but not enough for me NOT to have finish them all. The waitress stopped by enough to keep the water flowing and make sure all was going well. The staff seemed to be helping each other and as tables left they were quickly cleaned by one or more of the staff. It is nice to see places where the staff works together and makes the place good. Defintiely try the chicken tenders, they are more like strips of grilled chicken that have been fried, so you get the best result without all the breading! We also have really enjoyed the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza! Staff are always friendly and quick to refill low drinks! Only complaint.....this place get's VERY loud in the evenings! COVID precautions: hand sanitizer provided at the entrance, small patio seating, mandatory staff and guest face coverings (although, I've never heard them tell a guest to put one on that does not enter wearing one), and minimally reduced capacity. read more

Rude staff. Owner is racist. If you're not white, don't even bother coming. They will not serve you. We were being served fine up until my non-white friends joined us and then they just stopped serving our table. And even told my friends to get out. It was my first time ordering from Trueman's Place. I was craving chicken wing and a pizza. The food was disgusting. First of al my order was late so the food got cold. Then, the chicken wings did not have enough barbecue sauce on them, it tasted as I was eating raw chicken (yuck). I will never order from Trueman's Place again. Tried his place Sunday night. One and done. The food was subpar. I always really liked the Truman's that was on page years ago. We ordered some appetizers. They are frozen Sysco appetizers and not worth the price. I ordered chicken fingers tossed in buffalo sauce. How do you mess this up? They did! No breading and soggy and limp. Worst and I mean worst chicken strips I have ever tasted. My daughters had chicken philly sandwiches and the vegetables on the sandwiches were raw and not cooked through. The amount of fries that came with orders were smaller than the smallest size you would get at steak and shake and way over salted. It was a crappy meal and we will not be back. Me and my friends went to truemans on a Saturday night around 11:30. Two of them were 21 and me and another were underage. They wanted to get a drink so me and my underage friend got food before hand and went with them. We sat at the booth and took out some food. Our server politely told us that we couldn't eat there. We understood so we packed it up and put it under the tables. Then about two minutes later a younger lady started screaming at us to get our food and get out. She told us that truemans was not some subway or McDonald's and that we needed to get out immediately. She shouted at us and basically chased me and my friends out. It was so weird and completely unnecessary to scream and chase us out that way. If they didn't want any food at the table they could of politely asked us to put it outside in the first place. Trueman's Place doesn't look like much from the street since it is part of an older strip mall. You have to walk through smokers to walk into the restaurant. The place is data in appearance. We did enjoy good service. The wait staff was courteous and efficient. My wife is gluten free and their menu was limited. Also they didn't have options for gluten free buns which we have seen at other "sports bars". This would be a big addition without adding much cost of the business. We both ordered the rib-eye steak sandwich. It was only $9.99 and the steak was properly cooked to a middle rare and it was good size piece of steak, about the size of hoagie bun. It was very flavorful. There are additional items on the menu that I will try on future visit. There is one thing that this and other places do that I find a false statement. They state that "domestic beer" is part of the Happy Hour special but local micro brews or better quality US produced beers is not considered "domestic". It's basically the cheap AB and Miller beers which I find to be crappy beers not worth drinking. Yes, I am a beer snob. read more

Only rating one star just to leave a review. Went to celebrate a friend getting a new job and our friends of color in the group were being harassed with racial comments from a patron and his table. This was brought to the attention of Britney the bartender who said she was the manager and she said "he's just like that, he's a regular". Britney was upset that we were pushing the issue of getting the owners information to contact them, and her, a young lady stating she was the owners daughter, and a young guy with a beard said we were no longer welcome in the bar and we were trespassing. Our group went out to the parking lot and 4 cop cars showed up. They asked what happened, we explained the racial comments being allowed by the staff and two customers came out making statements to the officers that our group was not in the wrong. Sad that in 2022 rude, racial comments and customers are defended and supported by a small business. read more

So...it doesn't have that same dive bar charm as it's Benton Park brother, but it's a nice little neighborhood bar. Actually, this place is exactly what you would expect...the suburban clone of it's dirty older counterpart. So, it's newer, cleaner, and the staff is more attentive and friendly. However, what you gain in cleanliness, you kind of lose in neighborhood charm. You don't have the same regulars and the same "everyone knows your name" feeling that you get in Benton Park. Now that I have sufficiently compared the two...I'll tell you what I like about this one. They have really great food. I mean, really good pub food. Also, if you are out with people who want pub food but say, you need to fit into a bridesmaid's dress in a month....(not that I am talking about anyone particular) they have some healthier options too: salads, grilled chicken, etc. Also, it has a smoking and a non-smoking side. I always appreciate non-smoking bars the next morning when I don't have to throw my pillow out and wash my hair 6 times. However, my favorite, Tuesday Night Trivia. Show up early to guarantee you get a table though, it can tend to get packed, especially in the summer months. Solid choice for lunch in the area. It does suck that outdoor seating has turned into the smoking section in most places. I like to eat outside too without having a side of second hand smoke with my lunch. Had a fish sandwich and chips. Huge piece of fish on an even bigger piece of french bread, with only american cheese on it. Not sure if the menu said cheese, if i had known it was American I would have asked them to omit. American and Provel are not really cheese in my book. Chips were served warm and seasoned and as usual I ate too many and couldn't finish my sandwich. Sadly, that changed but it didn't diminish the quality of my lunch. I went with the owner's recommendation of the buffalo chicken sandwich. Perfectly cooked version of a fresh chicken breast. Not excessively breaded nor sauced but enough there to let you know that it is a buffalo -style preparation. We were moving to the area and were looking for a cool new hang one Saturday night after 8PM. We walked in, but weren't greeted by anyone, so we seated ourselves. After a bit a friendly waitress came over. We asked if they had a fairly popular locally made "microbrew" on tap. They had it, although she didn't know which brew. She offered to check, but we went ahead and ordered. The beers took a little bit to come. It appeared she didn't use a tray in this small bar. She brought one drink to the table next to us and assured us she'd be back with our beers, which she did. When the beers came, we ordered the pretzel with cheese bites, as I was hoping it would be a low heartburn order. When they came very quickly, they were hot and tasty, although they appeared to have been fried (which was a disappointment). The cheese sauce tasted like the standard out of the can nacho blend. The waitress was friendly and asked what we thought when she promptly collected our basket. We tried to be polite and she said they put some sort of butter/oil on them. She also mentioned she hadn't tasted much of the food. (I was impressed they sported a veggie club on the menu, but a couple other healthy/non-meat options other than salad would have been even better.) As far as hangs go, the decor was tastefully done, although the bathroom floor in the hard to reach places could have used a little love. The waitress was friendly, but the nearly $17 bill for two beers and pretzel bites was a bit much for the area. I doubt we'll be returning back, as we can drive to Kirkwood for those prices with better atmosphere. read more
