Here is how you know my five-star review is worth it: I am a 3rd-year student at UC Davis, living an hour away from the studio, and I consider commuting to Folsom for the six-month Awaken 200-hour teacher training the best decision I have ever made. I found a family, fell in love with the specific Baptiste style of yoga that Spotted Dog Yoga nurtures, attended countless yoga classes both in person and online, and improved the quality of my yoga practice in every way imaginable. Not only are the classes physically challenging, but they are also mentally and emotionally rewarding. BUYER BEWARE- Bad business with Nick & Katie Clark & Spotted Dog Yoga: I feel scammed, and taken advantage of. (Nick and Katie, please don't keep money that does not belong to you. You didn't win the lottery, you are selling a service, and if you don't provide the service, don't keep the money. Just because you wrote it in a contract that you made up yourself, doesn't mean you just get to keep a family's money. Yuck. I hope next time someone asks for their money back because they cannot complete a program for literally any reason, you give it to them.) I was really led to believe that they were excited to share yoga practice & wellness with the community, and build friendships. After expressing to Nick my concern about joining a virtual yoga training due to a torn hip labrum which had really derailed my yoga practice, he PROMISED ME THAT "THEY WERE THERE TO HELP AND THAT THEY WOULD WORK WITH ME ANY WAY THEY COULD." No mention of any cancellation policy, etc. Unfortunately I quickly learned that because of this injury I just cannot rotate or bear weight on my hip, I need surgery, and I was not able to complete the training after one of six online sessions. I asked for *some* of my money back, but I was sent a screenshot of fine print that there are no refunds, and given back only I feel very swindled and taken advantage of, as Nick and Katie Clark have kept my family's money although almost no services were rendered for an online yoga course. It is unethical, and horrible moral character. He was very heavily recruiting my business through multiple calls and texts, and his only intention was to get me to sign up and pay $1300 for an online class, which he will not refund. He was willing to say anything to get me to sign up and transfer him money. (They ended paying themselves $750 for 1/6 of the online class time, 1/6 of the cost of the course would have been $208, so I fully disagree with the refunded amount.) I would like save as many people as possible from falling for their Internet Yoga scam. They are part of a pyramid scheme, Baptist yoga courses, and I now see the insincerity in all of their videos, posts, and recruitment. read more

I participated in the Awaken program in 2022 because I was looking for a way to reconnect with my body. The program was one of the best things I've ever done! I highly recommend it to anyone, of any skill level. I carry many things that I learned from this program in my daily life. Nick and Katie and all the instructors are very nice. All of the classes are definitely a blast! They work very hard to bring all the equipment out like the stand up paddle boards, and then they work very hard to anchor down the line and then they have to bring all the equipment back it's a lot of work but they enjoy what they do and it shows! I have mostly done just the stand up paddle classes. One time I did yoga and gelato and the restorative and stars class but otherwise I mostly stick to the stand up paddle classes as they are the most fun. Even when conditions are bad like Highwinds and extremely choppy water they still do their best to make the class enjoyable in less than ideal conditions. I look forward to more classes. read more

Spotted Dog Yoga is SPOT ON! Takes my yoga practice to a whole new level. Did someone say yoga endorphins on FLEEK! I love that Spotted Dog Yoga (SDY) is literally 5 mins away from my house. After having baby #2, I came to SDY to slowly start moving my mind and body again. Nick and Katie are great instructors and I especially love their noon time 45 min classes that they have on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The studio has an awesome community vibe to it. The staff are friendly and the classes are AMAZING. The instructors are great about helping adjust your poses and get you to your edge. I took the "Awaken" program at Spotted Dog Yoga and got so much out of it! I've begun living my life to its fullest, where before the class, I was holding back. It gave me insights into myself that I was unaware of before which helped me a great deal. Nick and Katie are amazing instructors, very patient, knowledgable, kind, fun and easy to be with. Came here on travel and these guys are the real deal. The studio is beautiful and the teachers are bad ass. Took power yoga play, power yoga all, power yoga beats, and restorative. The classes are intense and they push you to your edge and beyond. I worked it so hard that I almost blacked out. Ha! Love the studio name. Who wouldn't want to do yoga with a name like Spotted Dog? They have a great introductory rate if you are not sure and fearful of commitment. I have only been going for a week so far and have attended classes almost every day. I love it! The schedule is great, offering classes very early on the weekdays until later than I would expect in the evenings. If you are unsure about your skill level, just start with a "restorative" class. This class consists of a lot of stretching and lying down. It is quite rejuvenating, and who doesn't like to lie down? The studio and restroom areas are very clean and everyone seems welcoming. The class schedule is very easy to check on their user-friendly website. I feel like if I continue to go to these classes regularly, I will meet my fitness goals. read more

Nick and Katie and the rest of the instructors are SO warm and friendly. They remembered my name after just one class, which made me feel like more than just a number in their class. I like how students have the option of choosing between two types of yoga going on in different rooms, which is different than other places I've been. Vinyasa provided more of a cardio work out and Restorative yoga was perfect after a stressful day. Try them out! If I weren't moving out of state, I would definitely have stuck with Spotted Dog. read more

Went to the SUP Yoga class adventure at Jenkinson Lake today and it was amazing! Great communication leading up to the adventure when I needed assistance. Jenkinson Lake was a beautiful location. Equipment was great quality. The paddle boarding was unbelievably fun. The boards are more sturdy than you think to conduct yoga, however you have to concentrate more on your core for balance, which makes it a good exercise. Felt comfortable in the group and had an overall good time. Would recommend and will be bringing friends and family to future adventures. read more

I wish I could give more than 5 stars, but I guess 5 will have to do. At the beginning of 2020 I was going to yoga at least 4 times a week, was in a great routine and had never been happier. Then COVID struck. Boo! It completely changed my world, I stopped going to yoga, I changed jobs, moved and got sucked back into my stale routine and funk. I was determined to make a change for 2021 and said "COVID can't stop me now!" So I signed up for unlimited classes to get back into my routine. To make a long story short (too late) I went to my first class tonight (1/5/2021) and I finally remembered what it felt like to be HAPPY again! I love Spotted Dog because I find the classes both challenging and centering. I like the not-too-hot heat and the humidity, which I haven't experienced elsewhere.
