Came to Oahu from California for vacation, and let me say, this place is nothing short of amazing!!! If you want to buy and even see some insane sneaker heat, this store is the spot. They have some of the rarest and hottest shoes on the market that most places would never carry. Their selection was amazing with most of their prices beating GOAT and StockX. The owner was one of the nicest locals I've met. He was very helpful and super personal when it came to sneakers, even letting me see my personal grails in hand. Part of me wanted to stay longer just to chat with him. After a little bit of price negotiation, I ended up leaving with a pair of air fear of gods, a shoe I've wanted for a very long time. Being a Sneakerhead, I had to go in and check it out. They got a grail wall! Because of their grail wall, you can tell it's no joke. So much Travis Scott goodness! The selection is great, but for Cinderella's feet, it's a bit harder on the Nike side, but for Yeezys, a lot! Consignment- I would call or email ahead of time, especially if you're from the mainland! Me? I probably would have rolled in with my DS dunks, but nah. I'm here on vacation, not to sell! You do need to buzz to get in, but they kinda rolled the red carpet out and just buzzed me in before I could even reach the button. I blame the Panda dunks on my feet. Came here for my first time and we had to wait outside unless the workers opens the door for us. This place is full of expensive shoes! Like damn! There shelf's are full of like Nikes, Adidas, Yeezys, etc. I came here the other day to get my friend yeezys and there was a lot of choices! They had the all black one, black and red, white, neon yellow, etc. I know my friend wanted the zebra kind color so I asked for that in a size 10 for men's and they had the last one! The one my friend wanted wasn't as expensive as the other yeezys! The one I got him was $550 compared to the other yeezys were like $1200 or $1700 I was shocked just looking at those prices! Heard about Truest via a Facebook group and checked them out via Instagram. Great location on South King Street with plentiful street parking. The owner, John, is friendly and his store is well stocked. Been here on two occasions, and there was plenty of Boost, Yeezy, Vans, and Nike products; although sizes go fast, so if you see something that you like, pick it up before it's gone. It was also nice to see some rare and less hyped shoes, which to me shows that they are about the culture. The store also stocks Supreme and store label tees. In terms of price, most of the product is consignment, so it's out of the store's control. However, I found the prices to be reasonable and on par with the market, with some shoes below the price points I've seen elsewhere. More importantly, these guys can be trusted and their shoes and product are 100% legitimate, and that peace of mind is worth it. As a fan of the sneaker game, the mere existence of stores like "Truest" are exciting because they provide a local 3rd party hub for sneakerheads & casual shoppers to buy, sell, and trade their grails and beaters without relying on sites like eBay or Craigslist. Of course sustaining a consignment venture such as this requires mark-up and relationship building, but "Truest" has placed a much greater amount of emphasis on the mark-up side of the business and a lot less on the relationship building side. "Urban Necessities" in Las Vegas is the best example of what a true sneaker consignment shop should be, where the prices and consignment should be driven to serving the people at the best of their ability. "Truest" is obviously trying to make as much money as they can while putting in the least amount of work and effort. The store has minimal interaction, no one greets you, no one asks you what you're looking for, no one even glances your way. As a whole the store feels cluttered and unwelcome, surrounded by shoes that you know by name and love, but are set at prices not only beyond your reach, but that you wouldn't be willing to pay anyway because they are cheaper on urbannecessities.com (while Truest.com has been in the works for 3+ years). There is a lot going on in here. Mostly kicks that have already released and now are tripled in price. Probably some items in there that I would have liked but didn't have time to go shoe by shoe. However they did have a nice selection of limited kicks. If you got the coin they probably have what you want. - (Giving an additional star as I just learned its consignment and you buy / sell here). As for the shirts made for the store, they were nice, nice design, good quality shirts, plain simple, but they had NO sizes except for a XL and up. And me being a M it wouldn't work. Went to Truest to focus on reselling some shoes and not necessarily to shop. Here's a recap of my experience. Parking - If you're going towards University on S. King St., you're best bet is street parking. There's a few on the far right hand side, near McDonalds. And more on the far left hand side of the street, literally across the Truest shop. A lot of free street parking on the weekends and holidays. Experience - Went in on a Saturday around 3pm. Was at the entrance of the shop and was buzzed in. The shop was clean, organized and just drip drip drip galore! Even my daughter (almost 3 yrs old) appreciated the way the shop was laid out. Headed to the front register and was greet by John. I mentioned that it was my first time consigning shoes he thoroughly went through the process with me. Was in and out of there in roughly 10 minutes. I have the distinct pleasure of working right next door to these guys. Let me tell you, the work they put into the place alone is absolutely stellar. They spent months turning and old dingy moped store into this immaculate beauty. They built the upstairs loft from scratch and spent long hours past midnight fixing up the place. They have a very good selection (mostly Nike's, but other stuff too) at really reasonable prices. I was looking at a pair of Jason Dill x Vans Snakeskin Authentics. They probably originally retailed for $100 and currently sells on eBay for $275, they were asking for $150. Not bad, not bad at all. If anyone knows this unicorn personally, you might recall my various over the top shoes (WHO DOESN'T LIKE MY PURPLE GLITTER CONVERSES?). I have been coming to truest for over 3 years now, service is still the best yet, whether you're selling your shoes or you're buying them. The shoe selection in this shop is insane for the size and so is the cloth. A ton of crazy grails and I never feel scared to look around and ask about things with jon working. I've sold over 5 items here and it's all been way over what stockx and goat would've payed me even if they didn't charge for taxes and processing fees! Truest is truly what you would call a labor of love. I will admit right away I know the owner so you can take my review for what it is. But I like to support businesses that start from a personal passion for something and this store is the quintessential example of that. If you are not into collecting hard to find, rare collectible shoes that are PRE OWNED, then maybe it's not the store for you but I don't get this other reviewer bashing TRUEST for its prices. That's the point, these shoes are collectible, hence the higher than usual prices. To expect them to sell shoes at MSRP is just nonsense. If you want brand new shoes at retail prices, then it is just common sense not to go to a consignment store. That said I want to stress the fact that the owners of this store truly love what they do and it shows in every single way - their customer service is EXCELLENT, they are the most friendly, open people I know and I couldn't say enough good things about the service. Bottom line, don't believe *everything* you read, and it's interesting this user does not have any other reviews up or didn't take the time to identify himself adequately either, no picture, nothing, just a nameless generic identity. It's hard not to be slightly suspicious of the sincerity of some of these reviews, especially when they go up so quickly after a business just had its grand opening yesterday. And to personally attack someone for how they talk is pretty low, speaks volumes of the person writing the review. Got my Air Jordan Retro 11s fire red from here. As you may not know, The AJ 11s are hard to come by unless you are willing to wait in line to get a number from shoe stores on island or know someone who'd sell it to you, or if you're VIP and get all the hookups from somewhere. I am not that lucky. And trying to purchase Retros you want online is difficult too because all the kids want it also and or MJ fans or shoeholics want it, so there's competition there. You'd have to be lucky enough to beat other internet users for a chance at it. I've always been unlucky. I mean I get the idea of profit to buy and then sell stuff for more than what's it's worth, but sometimes I don't like to wait or I can't that day cuz I got something else to do that day. And I won't buy something I really like and then sell it, no matter if I could make $100-$200 profit easy. Retros can be hard to obtain cuz they only make so much and if you're just a common person like me, you're stuck with what you got. And I don't kiss ass. It's not life or death to have these shoes. I love the 11s. And MJ is the greatest. Oh the store is small, but the shelves are stocked with varieties of brands from old schools to new kicks. But I just wanted the Jordans. They NEVER answer their damn phone, but can consistently post on social media. I've called morning, afternoon, & evening for the past few weeks on different days hoping to get in touch with someone but STILL no answer. There was only one time where the phone was picked up just to be hung up on like they didn't want to speak to anyone. Amazing shop filled with a great collection of shoes and streetwear. This is a consignment store so of course a lot of the products are gently used and priced higher. John has a well-curated collection of different types of shoes for every type of person: runners, SBs, Jordans, all of it! John is extremely knowledgeable of his huge inventory and will offer advice if you're looking for your grails :) Truest also has their own tees and tanks for men and women. Love their vinyl stickers. Check for new stock often!! I have been to Truest TWICE in the short time since they have opened. It seems that my favorite foodie friend and his son are super sneakerheads. And if you know anything about sneakerheads, they are serious about their craft and passion. Seems that is the whole reason why a place like Truest even exists! Obviously, love of sneakers is not enough to keep a business going once the doors open for business. Consignments seem to be a big source of business for them as well. Right now, we have found that keeping in touch via the Instagram page or Facebook, you can get a great idea of what has come in this week...and also gives you a feel for what has been moving this week. Prices are what you would pay online or on ebay. No shocker on that one. $400 OG 88's are a real thing, I'm afraid...but sneaker-freakers know what to expect.
