I was skeptical of being able to find nice running/walking shoes at Famous Footwear since in the past Iʻve struck out looking for dress shoes there. I was glad to be proven wrong this visit with such a nice wide selection of shoes from various brands and great help from sales staff. I found two pairs of heavily discounted name brand shoes that are trail shoes that Iʻll be able to use for extensive walking around, that should work even when the weather gets wet! I've always say take care of your feet as it's your support all of you... I've gone cheap in the past which either ends in breakage in a short amount of time or my foot gets battered...let's just say they're bougie and needs support lol! Famous Footwear is exactly that all the branded footwear all assembled in one location, now how convenient is that! I just love how it's all displayed eyeball level for easy scanning and we do shop with our eyes and to try them on with the large seating makes it so nice and relaxing to decide. On this day I needed work shoes which they actually have a great selection of...mine is Sketchers and yes I've gone to the actual store though they run out of my size quite often and here at they always seem to have it....hmmm! Arch support...comfort...they varieties are so different and I wanted both...sigh! Luckily the insoles come out so I decided to try to add theirs and they have so many...work, active, arch support are the types I could remember but I did ended up choosing work insoles. Located at Ala Moana Center street level between the store entrances of Bloomingdale's and Ross with lots of free ample parking. Today's haul was quite small & simple and it wasn't even "crowded" in the sense that the line was nonexistent, being that it's 17 days before Christmas! I had a pleasant shopping experience today, thanks to the sales associate who immediately greeted me upon entrance. All I needed were Sofsole Shoe Inserts and Sneaker Cleaner. The girl offered me a store credit card that would give me $10 off my purchase. But do I really need another credit card when I already have an AA Mileage earning Credit Card? Went to this retail store because my Amazon purchase ended up with a narrow tight fitting shoe. Store had a wide selection of sports and casual shoes to choose from. As someone who doesn't regularly buy branded shoes, nor know anything beyond shoe size and the general visual appeal of a shoe, it can be a bit of a overload, simlar to buying online. Edward, one of the store clerks, assisted me in picking out a pair that was easy to slip on and comfort for everyday casual wear. He then noted some foot & shoe pairing nuances I was unaware of - foot curvature, natural gait, a shoe's foot support design, etc. He showed me a few more shoe models to consider, letting me try them out. I was shocked to see how different the feeling of walking felt - much more stable and balanced distribution of weight across the heel and toes with each step. I eventually ended up buying two pairs of shoes - the everyday work wear, and the sporty running shoes. Sure, its a little bit more than Amazon, but the ability to physically feel how the shoe feels, as well as being able to get actual human insight is well worth the dollar difference. read more

If you're looking for any kind of kid's shoes, Famous Footwear is the place to be. We were looking for some kind of athletic/running shoe for my daughter because her current ones were falling apart. Our first stop was at another store in the mall and it was crazy ridiculous prices. It was prices that you would spend on adult shoes for adults whose feet don't grow anymore. I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much. So we checked the directory in Ala Moana to see what other shoe stores were available and found Famous Footwear. As soon as you walk into Famous Footwear, you just know. You just know that you are gonna find something. The store is filled with all kind of kids shoes. There were at least three aisles of athletic shoes for kids vs. the other store that had three shoes. I was quickly able to find two pairs that would be suitable for her and was her size. She quickly tried them on and it was perfect. We were gonna get both so one could be for school and one for basketball but one of them was too loose. So we got one pair. She loves it, it's in her favorite color, pink. The price at Famous Footwear is so so good too. We paid around $35 for a pair of Reebok shoes for her. The good: Huge selection of shoes at decent prices. Usually not too many people walking around. Very neatly stacked shoes. Lots of parking. The bad: When we came in there was one cashier, one employee guarding the door, and one employee walking around that I could see. I have come to this store before and there were always many employees walking around and assisting customers. On this day, we asked the lone employee for help looking for a particular brand and size. She just looked on her phone and said we don't have that size. And basically that was it. She walked away. Not even asking if she could help with another brand. Hey whatever's, I know businesses are strapped for employees. Well, the next 30 minutes was a scavenger hunt for a particular shoe size. Why didn't I ask her for help you say? Well, no thanks, she probably would say that they don't have the size anyways. Besides, I walked past her like 3 times with the lost look but she didn't ask to help. Business is located in Ala Moana Shopping 1st floor facing Ala Moana Blvd. It is after Old Navy and Ross Stores. This is my 1st visit to the store and I came to buy a pair of Skechers slipper. I had had to ask an employee where it was. This place is confusing because you had to look row by row to find Skechers slipper and sandal. The brands of slippers and sandals are mixed up together. Then, customers need to look on the shelf for their size. Finally, my purchase was a pair of Skechers slipper in size 6 for $40.00. They are comfortable but don't care for the rubber which makes my feet a little sweaty. I scanned the barcode on shoe box and found out that they are not longer sold at Skechers store but at online stores. read more

This review is specifically for the service I received when I visited here. I came here with my fiancé to buy some running shoes. We were greeted when entering the store. The store was really huge and there was about two workers on the floor and two on the registers. It was pretty busy. The layout of the store was very easy to follow. The popular brands were in the front and it was easy for me to find the running shoes. I was helped by Leann she was the assistant manager. She was very helpful in helping me find shoes I needed. Although there weren't many running shoes left, she did give me some recommendations. She recommended the Asics brand. However there was a few running shoes left and most of the better styles were already gone. Although I didn't get any running shoes, I ended up buying the Trail Run Asics that was good for hiking (since my old hiking shoes were run down). Leann was gave a great recommendation. In the past, we've usually gone to a sporting goods or running store to purchase our athletic shoes. However, recently while roaming about Ala Moana Center, we were drawn in by their store display of our favorite brand (Asics) of running shoes. This store is huge and has shoes and footwear accessories for men, women and children. Most sizes are out on the floor so you might be out of luck if you find a style or model of shoe that you like but the your size is out of stock. Prices are definitely lower than retail but perhaps it may be because the style might be from a previous season. Whatever how the discounts are passed on, you can be sure that your wallet and feet will thank you. Unfortunately, neither of us bought new running/walking shoes but we did find other casual footwear that we can use in our tropical climate. Service was pleasant and you can sign up for their Loyalty Program at no additional cost. I went to the store and purchased an item, but I didn't like how the associate treated me. She accused me of changing the boxes. Initially, she asked if I had tried multiple items, and I said no. She then told me that this wasn't the right box and walked away to grab another one. When she came back, I asked her what she had said. I asked if she was accusing me of changing the box. Only then did she explain that sometimes other customers mess up the boxes. If she had explained this nicely from the beginning, I would have understood, but she just accused me outright. I really dislike posting negative reviews but I prob should've known when we open the door here to not expect much. The lady standing near the door looked THRILLED to be there and was showing off her best inviting smile (you know I'm being sarcastic right?!) to all the potential customers outside. I am now not even sure why we walked in. The store is pretty big and has a lot of selection. We didn't see other workers asking if anyone needed help but the other customers seemed fine, as was I. I found a pair of shoes I liked and headed to check out. There were 3 parties in front of us in line and one party being helped at the check out counter which was only being serviced by one boy. A middle aged man (who I'm assuming must be the manager) came behind the check out counter several times. Did he help anyone in the line? Ummm no. I saw him see what the boy was doing but he didn't pay any attention to the growing line of people. Unfortunately as we moved closer to the front, the lady directly in front of us was taking way too long. She didn't get the right size, she needed to add something else, she wanted to put something on hold. Errrrrrr. And the older man came behind the checkout area AGAIN and should've started helping this poor kid out so he wasn't the only one working in this dang store. But no. Terrible customer service. Today I saw the strangest thing and thought "This store does not know how to sell shoes. Are they taking inventory or something? Do they have too many back stock? Is this a temporary thing?" Clearly, hitting sales target is not the goal for this location because most of their shoes are displayed higher than the average person can see. If you thought the top shelf where the shoes are displayed is too high to see, they have now stacked two shoe boxes on the top rack (for the entire store) and plopped the display shoe on the top box. Anybody shorter than 5'5" will have to strain or tippy toe to get a look. Not exactly an inviting way to shop. Even my above average height (with heels on) still had me straining to look up. Don't know how they can sell shoes this way. Nothing tickled my fancy and walked out empty handed. Also, I have spent hundreds over the years at their many locations and have yet to reap any significant savings other than the occasional discount here and there. So I really don't know what their rewards card is for other than to spy what I buy. Overall, nice shoes can be had every so often if the timing is right. Today wasn't a winning day. read more

This store reminds me of DSW shoe stores on the Mainland. There are boxes of shoes stacked as tall as most local women. You can find everything from athletic shoes to flats. Their boots selection is fierce although so impractical for Hawaii. I wish we had the kind of weather that would allow us to wear above the knee boots all year around. You'll just have to buy a pair for those Mainland trips. The store is located near Old Navy and the new Shirokiya Japanese Village. There's ample free parking. The salespeople are friendly without being overly in your face. Sometimes I want to try my shoes without an audience. I appreciate these salespeople because they greet you, but don't bother you. I don't have to worry about whether my toenail polish is chipped or not. The shoe prices are reasonable. This isn't Payless Shoes but the quality is better. You get what you pay for. I am a fan of booties because I'm a hobbit who needs all the help she can get from shoes. There were cute booties that wouldn't break the bank. A new location for Famous Footwear! They are located on the ground level in the Ewa Wing side, close to Shirokiya. There is a lot of parking available throughout Ala Moana. This location of Famous Footwear is about the same size as the others. If you are facing the front door (entering), the women's shoes are on the right; men on the right. There are benches down the middle aisle for you to sit and try on shoes. There are so many brands available. Roxy, Sperry, and Birkenstock to name a few. Being a brand new store, it is very clean. I was approached at least 3 times by clerks to ask how I was doing. The selection, at least for women, is vast. There were so many different styles of shoes. How does anyone pick? I did not end up purchasing any shoes when I first went in, but I did return to look some more. So if you are looking for shoes that are at decent prices, definitely come here! read more

She was squatting down while greeting customers, which by the way was a "hi" with a straight face LOL. They may be name brand shoes but don't be fooled. The shoes they sell are not the quality one is used to if you purchased them from a higher end store. I made a mistake of buying a pair of Florsheim dress shoes and it killed my feet every time I wore them. After wearing them only four times in a month and a half I took them back to the store to see if I could exchange them or receive a refund. My family and I decided to do our last minute Christmas shopping and since my parents didn't buy us anything yet for Christmas my Bros wanted to buy new shoes. Since we were at shirokiya we decided to check famous Footwear since it was close by. Everyone was excited so we ended up buying 7 pair of shoes. Employees was so friendly and helpful until we got into the counter. The clerk was very obnoxious and rude she was rolling her eyes idk if it's because we bought so much or something. As she was scanning our item she would just slammed our items on the counter. At first I was like okay maybe she's having a bad day but as she continues to slams the third box , I went ahead and ask what was the matter and she pretended as if she didn't hear anything I said. So I ask her for her name and if she could call her manager but she didn't respond so I asked her one more time and she goes " I don't know what you're talking about but I'm not even doing anything " and I'm like I know it's the holiday and I understand it's very exhausting but you should be more nicer. It's called costumer service. But she continued to give me attitude, my dad got pissed and told me to cancel the transaction and will just go elsewhere, someplace where our money is wanted. I came to the Famous Footwear/Ala Moana store with my daughter on 12/24/18, to exchange the Nike running shoes that I bought for her at the Ward Center store. The shoes were a half size too small. I specifically asked the manager at the Ward Center Store when I bought this Christmas gift, if I could bring these shoes back to any Famous Footwear store, to exchange them, if the size was not correct. He told me "no problem". Upon arriving at the Ala Moana store, we were not greeted and when I asked the sales clerk where the Nike women shoes were located, he pointed and said "over there". He made no attempt to help us. We finally found the shoes we were looking for and went to make the exchange. The female clerk told us that the shoes could not be exchanged, even after I explained what the Ward Center store manager had said. I asked them to call the Ward Center store, which they didn't want to do. They told me that it was busy over there and that no one would answer the phone; I said that I would wait and the phone was answered after three rings. The Ward Center store manager refused to make the exchange and said that signs were posted, which I didn't see. I also went on line and the Famous Footwear return policy states "If you are not fully satisfied with your purchase, you may return unworn merchandise at any Famous Footwear store." This has got to be the worst customer service at a retail store, that I have ever experienced. I will not longer patronize this chain and will file a complaint with their corporate office, as well as the Consumer Protection Agency for deceptive advertising and not honoring their written return policy.
