Normaly they don't come to the door and explain what thier doing that day, Most the time I may not even know that they have been her until I see the sign in the yard, Isaiah Felicand came to the door and rang door bell. He told me what the application would be fore on that day. As well we had a short conversation about misc. thing. I'm sad to write this review because the people I spoke to that signed me up were terrific. I spoke with Miranda and Jacob at Richmond Virginia facility and I signed up, but I was very pleased with the offerings and the pricing and I was told personally by Jacob that he would give me his phone number in an email so that if I any problems, I could contact him because I'd like to have local people to work with especially if they know the area I waited several hours. Never got an email so when I called, I couldn't believe my ears. I was getting offshore people in India the Philippines, South America How does a company do business with offshore customer service? Nobody could give me his phone number I was so angry because this was the only reason I signed up because I really liked him and thought you know what I have a local person if I have any problems can you imagine dealing with offshore people? Do they know your lawn? Do they know your neighborhood? Do they know anything it is bad strategy of the company to make this kind of phone tree where you call a local 804 number and speak to someone in Swaziland so within 20 minutes of opening my account I closed it 20 minutes later. I can't recommend them. I recommend the sales people they were terrific, but I can't recommend the company because their customer service teams doesn't give you access to local people if you have people maintaining your lawn in Virginia you want to speak to people in Virginia not China Russia, India, Poland, Greece Spain what is worse , I had to get on my hands and knees and beg the company. There is a reason the reviews show 1.8 for this business. These folks are extremely incompetent, cannot correct mistakes to ensure they do better, continuously make excuses for poor customer service, poor job performance and take 48 or more hours to call back or text back. Do yourself and yard (mine is now dead because pre-emergent was put on top of my healthy, green grass) a favor and either do your own yards or hire a company that not only promises to deliver but then performs on that promise. DO NOT USE! I just cancelled my service with them. When booking my first appointment, I told the manager (who called me). That I wanted someone to tell me when to water my grass and how often, specifically, what to do. Not some slip or some generic piece of paper, I wanted the person to speak to me directly. Well, that didn't happen, and then everything went to hell. I called that day, and I asked for the tech to call me, then i repeated the next day, then the next day. The only person who called me was the customer service rep Brian, and then I finally (after 10 days) got ahold of the supervisor of Calvin Jones, who told me that Calvin doesn't remember my yard, and will need to visit the house again... I told the manager, no, it's been 10+ days and this is all they could offer me, was another scheduled visit for 5 days in the future, that wasn't good enough. I waited another day, and didn't get any communication from them, So i called again... and again, and then finally had enough, and called to cancel, the women kept offering me "free visits". In which I said, No - all the guy had to do was speak with me for 2 minutes, to tell me to water my grass at xyz time for 20 minutes here, and then for 5 minutes there... It really wasn't that hard, and i had asked him to call me for weeks at this point, and it didn't happen. If you've read this far, the service is probably fine, but they don't actually care. We have had multiple TruGreen services I've the last few years. They call with the technician's name snd let you know which service they are performing. The technicians are responsive to our questions and helpful in their responses. Our yard looks much healthier. We get tree and shrub treatments and have found them to be effective. read more

This is the worst lawn service that I use to service my lawn and what a mistake. I had to call the customer service department to get technician to come out twice to see why my lawn was turning brown.They gave me a lamb answer and I also called the sale person and he tried to give me a lamb answer like trying to play a game of checkers. So I saw a Virginia green lawn service next door and I ask him why is my yard look or turning brown and the technician look and said you have a fungus disease . I requested someone from True green to come and take a look at the problem I was having with my lawn. The technician-Kevin L. was very thorough and informative. He took the time to explain what type of grass was in the yard and why and how certain grasses performed in certain conditions. Kevin L also made sure that I understood the process in keeping a healthy lawn. Since starting TruGreen they have been a welcome addition to maintaining the property. read more

***stay away*** if i could give no stars i would. my lawn was in amazing condition prior to hiring true green. the true green specialist that came out to service my yard even said the yard looked great and my watering habits as explained to him were spot on. i hired them for maintenance only not for to lawn restoration. a little less than a week after i paid to have the service rendered my yard literally started to die. it was not due to the lack of water or extreme heat/sun conditions. it took over a week to get my service cancelled and a refund. the people they sent out to look at what happened literally said "we have no idea what happened but this looks pretty bad". they gave me a refund but offered no solution of how to revive my yard. there are plenty of options out there stay away from these people. read more

Well, I'm sure the services they provide would be great. The problem is they promised to show up on a date give you a schedule even have an app to track it and then don't show up and as if that wasn't bad enough my very first service I had to threaten to cancel and all of a sudden they found somebody to come out and do it and we discussed I was putting Halloween decorations up. We were having a party you promised a date, you pushed it off you're not pushing it off again I spoke to their service manager, who suggested that we do my seating and aeration in early November, and I said I thought that was great. That way the decorations would be down since that conversation. My true green app has told me that someone will be out the next day three times And it is still October last night. It said they would be out the next day and I went into the app to cancel it and they still showed up and said that they couldn't do it because my Halloween decorations were there trouble rescheduling it when I was promised it could be done on Friday the third now they're telling me it has to be done on or before November 2 so I said not before they couldn't accommodate that so I now find out that they failed to show up when they say they're gonna show up and then show up earlier than they agreed to show up when you finally go through the trouble of canceling, if you pre-paid for the whole year, they make you wait another 14 days after the cancellation before you get your money back I'm sure the service is good, but I spent more effort rescheduling than it will be to seed myself. I've done the seating myself prior years and I'll be doing it again. Would've been nice to have the aeration done but since they don't listen to anything else that is discussed , the attention to detail and the reliance on a computer to tell them what to do concerns me I will never be using this company again Their managers make promises and then say that it gets overridden no problems just call them then you can't get a hold of anybody. I feel bad for their employees and hope that they're paid by the hour not the job if they keep showing up the jobs that clearly are not ready for them , I'm one of those three strikes out. I'll try it if it's terrible I'll give you a chance to fix it. I filled out an online form looking for some information about Trugreen and somebody showed up at my house unannounced knocking on my door. What the hell? I was so annoyed that I went to the door and kind of told the guy off and his response was... Will you filled out the form and put your address down? I said I didn't ask anybody to come to my house, nor did anybody tell me that somebody was going to come to my house Plus it's 100° outside today I'm not gonna go stand outside and talk to you about lawn care and pricing etc. I was just really annoyed that they had the audacity to show up at my house unannounced. He didn't have a Trugreen truck or anything it was just a guy in a hat he could be anybody and if that's the way they do things I told him to go away and not come back that I wasn't going to use them now and maybe I'm over reacting but that just doesn't sit well with me. 'Pesty' is the best way to describe TruGreen. Although I properly canceled all services through TruGreen's corporate office, TruGreen still called us to 'schedule service'. I finally had to tell TruGreen to stop calling us. If you start complaining to TruGreen, TruGreen is quick to divert your attention away from the issue at hand. For example: TruGreen is quick to say, "Oh, we are now under new management." Another example: When I called TruGreen's corporate office to end all services, TruGreen was quick to offer me a discount off my next service. My father was the one who chose TruGreen. He's in his eighties and wanted a reliable lawn care service to help him in that area. However, TruGreen took advantage of my father's age. At times, TruGreen charged him for work that he did not agree to, or if he did agreed, he did not have full understanding as to what TruGreen was actually charging him for. I remember those outrageous bills being left on our front door knob by TruGreen. With my mom's and dad's permission, I canceled all services with TruGreen. read more

Got a promotional letter from them so I called them for a quick price. Instead of telling me answers for the questions I ask him about their company, he only talks about the fact that each company offers different things and I shouldn't be fixed on the prices. I have been doing research for multiple companies so I realize that each company has different resources and products. I tell him I just need a quick price estimate because I was in the middle of work. He then gets irritated and complains why I would call him if I don't have sufficient time to talk about services. I switched from Virginia Green to Tru Green because of price. I am now back with Virginia Green after a full year with Tru Green. Why? Tru Green quoted me 10 treatments and I paid up front. After 7 treatments they started billing me. I had to constantly call and get this resolved. I would also get billed when a service was suppose to be done but wasn't. When you call them they refer you to the toll free number and it's such a disconnect with what's really going on. Virginia Green will actually discuss your yard with you any time. The sales person at Tru Green ignored my text and calls. Well, Virginia Green didn't show up so I have decided to go back and do it myself. Truly unprofessional and liars. Last year I prepaid for the whole year including aeration and seeding. They came 5-6 times only and my lawn was in very bad shape throughout the year. Johnny Chow can't communicate and enters service in the system when he hasn't done any. I asked for my money back but they refused. Then end of year I scheduled aeration and seeding, but they never came and logged as done in their system. We prepaid for a full year of Trugreen service, but we wish we didn't. Our lawn is in no better shape than it was when they started. We've had technicians come to house completely unprepared and without the things needed to treat our lawn. We've had technicians come to the door and knock and if we don't answer they just leave. After prepaying for the seven treatment package (close to $1,000), TruGreen was a no show for over three months after their two initial treatments. When I called to figure out what was going on I was routed to a corporate rep who told me the account had been "lost in the system". When I requested to cancellation and a refund I was told she could cancel the account but a representative from the local branch would have to issue the refund because representatives are still taking all calls at home and don't have the authority of management for full refunds. I was assured I would receive a call from the local branch within 24 hours. Four days later, the only calls I've gotten from TruGreen are from the corporate sales office - one trying to upsell aeration and fertilization service, and the other for insect treatment - not a word from the local branch. In less than 48 hours, another local servicer (Virginia Green) was able to come assess the lawn, provide an estimate, schedule the service, and perform the service. I guess there's good reason the majority of people in my area choose Virginia Green! read more

TRUGREEN Tree & Plant Service.... After an on-site visit from a Richmond salesperson who walked the yard with me and answered my questions in a assuringly-professional manner, I opted for an annual, 7-treatment plan. As it was summer (6/27) the first application was form INSECT and DISEASE control. Within 30 days we had 2 large, 18-year old Otto Luken laurel foundation plants die....one of the Laurels showed NO SIGN of stress/problems 30 days earlier...one/the other Laurel did show signs of stress in late June. In late July (within 30 days of treatment) 4 different trees (all less than 20' high; T/G won't treat trees over 20') had web worm nests...All these items occurred after the technician visited and treated. The salesperson had clear instructions that the technician was to make sure I was with him BEFORE performing the first treatment. There are/were roughly 85 plants/trees covered by the service and I wanted to make sure the technician understood the scope of the service...and observe/test his knowledge, skills and abilities. Just what you do when you hire someone! The salesperson had passed his test. A healthy, beautiful landscape adds value to real property. Despite my insistence that I be present for the treatment, the technician did not make direct contact (before or after) with me, but was able to hang an invoice on my front door before leaving. Who knows how much of the yard was treated....I don't....maybe that's why the web worms appeared shortly after treatment. Azaleas still have mites... Should I have called them immediately and complained, yes. I didn't, my bad....Should the technician (Manager or salesperson??? Afterall, I was a brand new customer)have followed-up after the initial visit, YES. It's called relationship building...they're no better at deepening relationships than they were at effectively treating our landscape. I fired TruGreen....don't reward a business that seemingly has poor internal communication, who won't honor commitments made to the customer...So save yourself a potential headache and hire a higher rated provider...I have. read more

Received a call from Trugreen because my husband and I wanted to get some yard work done a couple of days ago.I picked up the phone and the guy was totally rude when I said I no longer needed their service because I got my yard work done elsewhere. He asked me "What was the point of you requesting a quote then," sheesh I requested a QUOTE and that was a few days ago! Telling them that you don't want their service is not good enough, but I'm not sure what is. Buyer beware! Deceptive practices - we've used them for a couple of years but decided to cancel ALL their services. After calling them the first time, they took off only one service and kept the rest on the account - found out only by going online to check on the account status. Called them a second time and they promised they'll cancel all the remaining services, which turned out to be false again based on the online status, as they'd scheduled us for additional services in the future. They seem to take advantage of the fact that most customers wouldn't follow-up on the cancellation request, and the company will then continue performing unsolicited services and bill the customers (who naturally wouldn't want to pay the bill), and the company will then send the bill to the collection agency. Other customers seem to have a similar issue based on complaints with BBB - so again, buyer beware! read more
