I have had TruGreen for several years now, and I have been super happy with the service. I originally booked them upon the advice of my neighbor, as I had a plethora of dandelions and nettles in my grass yard. TruGreen has helped make my yard beautiful and weed-free. I have gotten compliments from neighbors about how nice, green, and lush my yard is. I have a ton of garden beds around my yard with native plants, and TruGreen has always been super mindful not to bother those areas. My whole outdoor space is thriving. Joe provided me service today, and he was excellent. We had a quick chat about any concerns I may have had. I also appreciate that I get a phone call the day before service as a reminder, and I can easily reschedule in the app (in example, last summer when we had no rain for weeks on end I pushed back service until we started to get rain again to not stress my yard). Watch these people when they come treat your lawn!! I happened to be home one time when they came out to spray our trees & shrubs. The guy took his hose, hardly even sprinkled anything on them, then sat in his truck for quite sometime! One of our healthy trees died after they started treating it. We have Trugreen and they ruined our lawn. We spend a lot of time and money to maintain it and they spot sprayed for weeds, forgot to come in July. Now we have crab grass everywhere. The last guy that came out wasn't going to treat the crab grass because he said at least it is green!! We also paid for the lawn pests but they must have forgotten that too because we now have mole tunnels everywhere. We have called and called and have been told a manager will call and they don't, a senior tech would come out and they haven't. Day by day our lawn gets worse and we don't know what to do! I don't use TruGreen Lawn Care. THAT'S THE PROBLEM. I have spent years establishing clovers, creeping thyme, native MN fescues, native wild strawberries, in addition to many edible plants and native prairie plants. So much was sprayed. Apparently you can't call the business directly, just a local hotline and then wait until someone calls you back in two days time. Called multiple companies for mosquito control last week. Had two companies lined up and available, but true green was cheaper and also assured me they could be here by Saturday. By Thursday, I had heard nothing from them... called them back and they told me they never promised they could be out by Saturday and it was too late to schedule anyone else. me and my family were eaten alive.. I now got notification they will be here tomorrow but it's too late and cancelled. I live in an apartment complex and actually have worked for Trugreen previously. This morning when taking my dog out they had a technician treating the grass - which is a first for our property. Regardless, the technician tripped my dog and I with his hose (like pulled his hose taught after passing us) and when I turned back to see where he was at he was looking directly at me and didn't say anything. I had half a mind to shut his pump off so he'd have to walk back. Even if it was accidental, he should have apologized. We were trained to just wait for people anyways, so clearly he gave no craps either way. read more

They almost fertilized a yard two houses away from ours, and when I walked down to tell him he was at wrong house I got a rude response, said our address wasn't visible. It is very visible. Today, their service guy was pounding on my door at 7:30 a.m. and asked me why he was there. He didn't see any notes on his service order, so he did not know what to apply. I asked him to call his office to clarify, and he replied that he could not do that. So I told him what to apply, and he said he didn't have that on his truck and left. I called the office, and they had record of what was to be applied today. HUGE disconnect in their training/communication, and service to my area. I called 5 TIMES and asked for a supervisor to call. I requested a call on their app and nothing. I have about 101 reasons why not to use Truegreen lawn services but will only do 1 or 10 a day. 1-Seldom show up when scheduled 2-Backuo -----have to call to schedule when it's late in April and havnt got 1st application done yet. Hmmm 5- find out neighbors getting better rate with bigger yard and 6-actually got it serviced. 7-Before mine. 8-Finally show up and saturated my dogs toy balls left in yard with chemicals. 9-customer service (this alone is usually 15-20 minutes) leave message after waiting forever 10- finally call me back got a sorry- impressed ? Silly me refer another neighbor who adores our lawn I now have given them 2 referrals and both are upset with me as you guess still have weeds in yard after finally getting them to show up and service their lawns. 12- 2 and a half months go by yard is full of weeds it's July havnt come back for 2nd treatment so I have to call and see when they have time to do what I pay them for. 13- no show for apt to do 2nd treatment 14 call customer service again to tell me I wasn't on the schedule so they set up a date mid July to service my now full of weeds lawn. 15- again neighbors griping they havnt done their services again and got lots of weeds. I prepaid for this whole season. They've been here once in April and have not been back. My yard looks a lot worse than when I did everything myself. I've left messages and talked to customer service with a promise someone would contact me. It hasn't happened. I will go back to taking care of it myself as I was informed they do not do refunds. I have been a customer of TruGreen for the past 5 years. Overall, the lawn care service is good, but the customer care department is absolutely terrible. In the past you could speak directly with the local service center, but now you get pushed into nationwide customer care center. My current issue is a price increase that went into effect in April 2022. I negotiated my annual rate on 3/21/22 and once service started in the spring i see i am being charged something different. This was done without notice from the customer care team. Upon asking about this difference, the representative said there was nothing they could do about honoring their contract. Essentially, i am done with TruGreen. I would rather pay more for the same service, but with better customer service. read more

They've rescheduled with us for basic mosquito service and have not come out 4 times and each time they don't call or text to day they can't come. One day they said their equipment didn't work and thy would be back on a week. Well.... they never showed. In my prior home I used Scott's lawn service and loved it! My yard always looked amazing. I recently moved and wanted to restart my service with Scott's this year but was disappointed to see they were now part of TruGreen. Since that was the case, I thought I would give TruGreen a try. HUGE MISTAKE. We've had 4 applications; not only do I have crab grass growing, it is multiplying quickly. In addition, we now have clover and various other weeds I am unfamiliar with growing throughout our yard. Dealing with customer service doesn't help. After years of treating my yard myself I decided I needed help with my busier schedule and signed up for the Trugreen lawn care program. Unfortunately this proved to be a mistake. The first treatment that was administered was too strong and burned much of my grass and over sprayed into my plant beds. I needed to replace many plants as well. I spoke with customer service about the issue and they said they would note the account and make sure the technician used greater care on the next application. The next time everything went well. No weeds and the grass was green so I was happy. Treatment 3 comes around and the lawn was burned out more than before. I now had a half brown lawn! The general manager stopped by to see the grass personally. He told me he felt the grass would recover and that he was deeply sorry for the error. He also promised me a free aeration and over-seeding of the yard in the fall. I was satisfied with his correction and moved on. The next treatment again worked great and the grass seemed to be returning to its previous form. Unfortunately, perhaps you can see the pattern, the 5th treatment browned out my grass once again, much worse than the previous 2 times. I told them to skip the 6th treatment and to just plan on over-seeding in a few weeks as we were approaching fall. Nobody ever came out to aerate or seed my lawn. In fact, they instead ignored my request and treated my lawn a 6th time on 10-10-18. I complained for the last time, but that didn't stop them from sending me an invoice to prepay for my lawn care package in 2019. Needless to say I ignored their offer to continue service in 2019. The other day I received a notice that I was being sent to collections for non-payment of a treatment I told them very specifically not to apply. This notice came in the mail after I have spent hundreds seeding and sodding the damage created by them. My lawn look horrible once the temperatures started warming and I could see the areas that were not growing back. In a panic I went to work fixing the damage, I have a grad party to prepare for and wanted my yard to look presentable. I have called their customer service number again and was told the GM would be in touch with me. Since my previous calls were ignored I will not hold my breath on a fix this time. If you are looking for a greener healthier lawn, consult with the neighbors that have the lawn you want to emulate. Sometimes taking care of it yourself ensures an kid with 20 minutes of training for a chemical that can kill your lawn doesn't set you back months and even more money when you need to repair your lawn yourself anyway. Well after numerous delays for our lawn service - they had come out - or so they say - no door hanger - no lawn spike to indicate they were here - I work from home and never heard them. But to be fair - I did leave for about 2 hours - but again that was after they txt the appx: time they would be here. Never received any calls after numerous attempts - both with a direct conversation with the service department and through there online system. Been over 4 weeks since first request - nothing. So I cancelled them - I gave them several chances - but I guess - like all big companies - I am a statistic. As a business owner - I would never in recommend a large company such as TrueGreen to anyone. Find a local small business. read more

My Uncle had given me the number for TruGreen and they swore by their service and lawn care. By the looks of their yard I went for it. We just moved into our house back in May and have a yard full of like 5 different weeds. Just after 1 application there is a considerable difference. I'm not exaggerating either. Don't even bother with this place. First I paid for a treatment and when I got home I got I saw the door tag that said they were there. He also noted that he didn't have enough hose to reach my very back yard. I called in to see if they were going to come back out, but I never got an answer. Then they tried to upsell me on a lawn aeration. I ddin't want it, but the guy said he would do it for free if I wasn't happy, or didn't notice the difference. Well they came out one day and did the front yard. Not the back, or the sides; just the front. Again a call to the office. Are you going to finish? Oh and by the way are you going to finish spraying the back that you didn't get what I paid you for? Time goes on and I finally get a hold of someone at the office and explain what's going on. He said that they would come out and fix it. I get home from work and now I've got the tag stuck in the dirt that says they just fertilized. *sighs* Call them back. Not aerated. Not sprayed. I gave up at this point. I cancelled my package and moved on. They called me back next spring and asked me if I was interested in having a better looking lawn. Of course I was, but I was curious if this meant that they would finish spraying my back yard. He said he would look into it and get back to me. Amazingly he did. Later in the year when he said that I was overdue for some work. Fast forward. They found my resume on indeed or something and sent me an email. Mind you I'm an electrical engineer, so I don't think that there is much cross-over between these two disciplines. I told him that I would be interested in working if I could get a truck so I could finish my backyard myself. He actually called me the next day. I don't know what he expected, but clearly he thought that he wouldn't have to pay me my regular salary and I would come work there. read more

I have used TruGreen in the past with no issues. This year, however, was different. The technician did something that left a zigzag burn line throughout my entire side and front lawn. The grass is dead all along his path. He also did not do an application to the backyard. I know because a contractor working on my h ouse at the time observed him. They are due to come out to look at the lawn today to assess the situation. Regardless, the lawn is burned badly and unsightly. It is as though a 2 year old was left to walk aimlessly around the yard with chemicals with no regard for what they were doing. If I could give negative stars I would! A tech came out and sprayed for weeds and then a few days later we noticed that some of our landscaping bushes were looking weird. Then a few days later the bushes were turning brown so figured out that the tech also sprayed the weed killer on them. Called trugreen about it and of course all they do is take your number for someone to call you back. No one did! Called 2 more times and get the same thing, took my number and said someone will call you back! Still have not heard from anyone about this problem! Horrible customer service! I should have believed the other reviews posted. I pre-paid for a portion of one season and the next. I thought they would actually help clear weeds from my lawn. They do not apply weed killer after the first frost when weeds are most susceptible to treatment, not do they apply weed killer in the spring when weeds are flowering. Instead they apply or say they do, in the summer during the rain, or just before a rain. I suppose the application is done then to retain the problem thinking they will be rehired. Don't waste your money on this outfit. They will not fulfill their promise to improve your lawn. If you have to complain and call them back to reapply, what is the use? And, who knows what they put on the lawn. The results of whatever they put down doesn't improve anything. If you want something done right, do it yourself. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Predatory practices!! I cancelled ALL service in the middle of last summer due to poor results and terrible follow up on questions and concerns I had. Then this spring they showed up and treated my lawn with no call ahead of time. They then showed up the next day and did a tree and shrub treatment, which AT NO POINT IN THE PAST HAD I EVER HAD. I got a bill for both services in the mail. Upon call to customer service, they told me that the state of MN does not require homeowner consent for the first treatment of the year, only subsequent treatments. The national customer service rep also agreed that I had never in my several years of service ever requested or received a tree and shrub treatment, so it made no sense for them to do it without warning. Customer service rep assured me that all future service was cancelled permanently (which I had thought last summer as well). Fast forward 3 weeks, and today I got a call from this location saying "I see you've had tree and shrub service with us in the past, just want to make sure we get you taken care of again this year." I about lost my mind. It is apparently impossible to cancel, and the predatory practices are unbelievable. Will be making another call to national customer service today. BBB will be next. read more

I signed up for TruGreen service. The weather finally warmed up and after giving it a lot of consideration, I decided to cancel the service. I called TruGreen customer service and was told they visited my home that morning. I cancelled my service and the customer service rep asked me to pay for the service, something around $49. I never received a call prior to the visit so the gate to the backyard was not unlocked. When I got home that evening, I found a service receipt that stated the lawn in front of the house and side of the house were serviced. The backyard is about 75% of my lawn, so this was ridiculous. I was billed $49. I sent customer service two emails, never heard back from customer service, but I did receive a call from the servicing tech, who apologized that everything wasn't serviced. I told him if someone would have called me, I could have come over to unlock the gate, as I was only 2 minutes away. I called customer service on the phone. The rep said someone did call me, but there was no answer, so they put a note in my account records that said if I called, offer to spilt the bill 50/50. WOW, they made one call and didn't try again? I checked my call log and found one call that COULD have been from TruGreen, but they never left a voice mail message. I told the rep the 50/50 split wasn't acceptable, I should be credited the entire amount. I was told that since I cancelled my service that there was nothing else she could do. My recommendation, and it's a strong one, is to STAY AWAY FROM TRUGREEN! The WORSE customer service I have ever experienced. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I paid $430 for a year package. Come August, my lawn looks worse than it ever has. I have terrible crabgrass and prostate spurge that I had previously been able to control on my own. I don't know what they actually do when they come out, but the results don't show. When I called to complain, they told me they would send a person out to apply a herbicide, but the person did not show up. That is what caused me to cancel. read more

This company is horrible at best. They have absolutely no sense of urgency and are clueless when it comes to customer service and satisfaction..
