If I could give less than one star I would. Tru Green is the worst. They take no pride in their work. I easily have the worst lawn in my neighborhood; huge brown patches, dead spots, mostly dirt. How they put up the TruGreen sign each time they come is laughable. My lawn is all basically weeds (nut's edge) and is ankle height within a day of cutting it. When we call to let TruGreen know that our lawn is overrun by weeds they tell us we should call and complain more. Really? I thought I paid you to take car of it. They've actually come out to treat for weeds and then had a different crew come hours later to aírate and seed. When we told the 2nd crew we had a weed treatment hours before, they put off seeding. It's now a month later and, with cold weather fast approaching, we still haven't been seeded. We've called all month and they continue to insist we've been seeded. TruGreen just came to seed and perhaps they don't have eyes but it was treated as a 'reseeding' so only a light dusting of seeds was applied. We called and they admitted it was in their system as a reseeding and promised some one would be back today to apply the customary amount of seed for a first application. I am not holding my breath. Ok let's say this company flat out sucks! I had TruGreen for two or three applications in 2019 (fired them) and decided to give them another chance. I had them here for two applications, plus two free service calls because I still had weeds galore. Don't advertise your lawn will be the envy of your neighbors if it's just going to be shit. Trugreen doesn't give a damn about the customer. When you call them after being a customer for many years, all you get is lip service. "Yup, the guy will be out today", "Oh, a guy will definitely be there today", etc.... And, when I cancelled after threatening to cancel, no one bothered to call me and inquire why I cancelled. I am truly disappointed with TrueGreen. I signed up for the mosquito treatment service back in June. After the first month they started not showing up to scheduled appointments. I would get a text message your technician is on the way, and then quickly another message we could not perform your service. Dealing with their customer service has been a nightmare, not sure how this company remains in business with such awful customer service. Unfortunately I've had to deal with that 4 times in the month of July over their broken promises. All of a sudden one day in August I come home to TrueGreen lawn flyers on my yard. ok? so now they are just showing up unannounced? A TruGreen truck was just parked on our street at 8:00 AM Blasting salsa music. I nicely asked her to turn it down and she DID NOT! What's that all about? What type of company hires someone who A. Thinks it's OK to blast music at 8 AM and B. Refuses the request of a neighbor to turn it down? Also: whatever they just sprayed all over my neighbors yard smells like straight up poison. I would give zero stars if I could. I purchased the service for my husband for Father's day. On the first application it was raining. I wasn't concerned about the rain, because the FAQ on the website AND their hold message states that "rain is good and delivers the treatment to the root system to destroy weeds." Additionally I watched some of it on my Blink camera. It looked as if the tech did not spray my entire lawn. I wasn't completely concerned thinking they knew what they were doing. Now, almost 10 days later - my "plantain weeds" are flourishing. Not a sign of wilting as stated in their FAQS. When I called to cancel they tried to sell me another service. When I stated that it rained the day of the application - the customer service agent said OHHHH well thats why the weeds didn't die. The application washed away. Wait, what???? Everything they state is that rain is good. Now it washes away?? Well then why the HELL did the tech continue to work in the rain, knowing rain was bad instead of rescheduling. It really blows my mind how these lawn care service companies continue using chemicals (pesticides and others) that have proven to be harmful to the environment and carcinogenic to animals, and humans. And they put this crap on people's lawns!! Then you wonder why people get sick... I called this people for lawn care services and made it very clear (in phone call and emails) to NOT use pesticides on my property when they do the first visit. Have small children and we are growing an organic garden in our yard. I did not even sign the papers/consent that by NY state law are required before applying pesticides. I can't describe the massive amount of incompetence that i've experienced with Tru Green this past year. Within the last two weeks, they've tried to perform my annual aeration & seeding service 3 times and all times have been unsuccessful. The issue is that they keep sending a huge aerator that will not fit through my backyard gate. Each time, they've told me to call the office and specifically request the technician to bring the smaller aerator. I've done this 3 times now and for whatever reason, they same technician keeps showing up at my doorstep telling me he can't perform the service. He also says that the notes for the smaller aerator are in the system which he has access to, but they only send him out with the large aerator. I can't understand for the life of me how someone can come to a job 3 times with the wrong equipment and expect a different result. I will be sending a personalized letter to TruGreen leadership to make them aware of this experience. I've now had to take 3 days off from work (as I want to be home when the technician comes so they can see where my aeration system and in ground lights are located), and still I have no results. Additionally, TruGreen screwed this up on me twice last year as well. So, in the past 12 months, they've come out 5 times and only been able to perform one service. I would think that they would figure this out by now, but I guess they have not. They will not be getting another penny from me. A lost customer for life! read more

I used trugreen for about two years. I wanted to stop the service because on one occasion the service seemed to burn my grass and the mosquitos were still biting. The service did slow down the mosquito attacks. I called and told them I didn't want the service anymore and they still came and charged me. A collection agency started calling me for a service I payed them for even though I told them not to come. I told them if they come again I will put a dispute in with the Consumer Affairs Bureau. Terrible service. I ordered mosquito and Truehealth Lawn Plan. My lawn has since gotten worse than before. I now have brown spots and missing grass. They sent someone do do free walk through and come up with a report of what is going on. The person came and the report was empty. Called them and they apologized and told me they would send someone the next day for free and would make sure the guy would call me to discuss the lawn while he was there. The person supposedly came in, never called, they charged me and once again the report was empty. I called again today to get my money back and they are putting in a request for a manager to take a look and call me back within 48 hours to process my refund. Terrible all around service. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! I hired them last year to take care of my yard at my new home. My yard, 4 manicured acres and is now loaded with crab grass which there is nothing I can do except wait for winter and retreat in the Spring. All they did was continually try to up sell me via text messaging. When I finally was able to get someone they couldn't have been more accommodating however, it turns out they measured my yard incorrectly and were not doing the entire yard. The areas they were doing is also loaded with crab grass. When they finally sent someone back to redo the yard the idiots were doing my neighbors yard instead of mine by accident. Last week before I fired them they sent someone out to spray my yard and were here for 8 minutes. YES 8 minutes from the time they entered the gates, drove down my 400 foot driveway allegedly unloaded their equipment, sprayed 4 acres and were done and back out of the gates in 8 minutes! They 100% never sprayed so now $1200+ later and my yard looks terrible! Can I select negative stars? read more

Sadly, I can't rate them at all. They are horrible.Even after several applications, my weeds kept appearing. One day after a pesticide application, my entire yard turned brown. The front, side, and backyard lawn went from green to brown. Upon trying to contact a service manager, my messages went unanswered for 5 days. Every time I called, I spoke to someone different and had to repeat my issues all over again. Eventually, someone from TrueGreen came to my home and I was told I had "tip burn" because my lawn was cut too short and it needed more water. That is complete nonsense because prior to the pesticide application, the lawn was green and I hadn't cut it at all after the application. I was told to keep watering it and it would eventually be healthy. The point was that the lawn was perfectly healthy and the application is what screwed it up. The company told me they would reimburse me for the application. I once agin told them my frustration and expected the lawn be corrected or they replace it (as they advertise) Needless to say, my lawn is still brown and still dead. I called them back and told them, and they told me there was nothing more they could do. I told them they should be named " True Brown." I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau, 7 on Your Side, and Shame on You. In addition, I told anyone I know, not to use them and had them take a look at my before and after lawn photos. I wish I had read reviews prior to using True Green because had I done that, I would have never used them. BEWARE! Do your research and connect with a more reputable lawn service. read more

I wish I had read these reviews first... nice lawn that I spent lot of time and money on... hired TruGreen this year paid in full for full service treatments... got sod webworms called and asked them to come out and treat.... guy came out and treated a second dose for grubs...begged them to address situation, I wanted to upgrade to another treatment yet, no luck... had to get another service to assess in 5 min and treat... weeds out of control.... guy was here on a wed.... the same week on fri I get alert that they are coming out.... I call and they were going to treat lawn again..... same week... now as far as weed control.... I have never had so many weeds and so many different kinds.... of I didn't know any better, I'd swear they put down nothing.... I call and complain on messages because I couldn't reach people.... they cancel my service with 2 treatments remaining.... no call.... I notice when my acct gets credited for partial refund.... eventually reached a manager who seemed like he couldn't be bothered.... TruGreen in Randolph, NJ is awful. They do not show up for scheduled services and charge me for the service anyway. When I contact customer service I am put on with a call center rep who has no control over what the TruGreen branch is actually doing. I cannot speak with a supervisor and apparently technicians are not allowed to knock on my door per their covid protocols. Well, I would understand that, but there is no law or executive order at this time in NJ that would preclude a contractor from entering my home and covid cases are down. At this point it is just an excuse. My lawn also looks terrible. It is full of crabgrass and weeds. Makes me.think that even when a technician did show up they sprayed water on my lawn and called it fertilizer. Finally, they have not refunded my money so they are basically stealing. Someone came door to door and my poor naive husband signed us up for one year service for lawn Care that we paid for in advance. Our lawn looked the same after each treatment and after a year. When someone came to "treat" our lawn, they were literally here for 2 min. One only good? thing is if you're not satisfied they will come out as many times as you want for treatment Our one year subscription ended and they still showed up and charged us. We called (we had called before it was over to confirm cancellation and they said we had a couple left) again to confirm cancellation. We received cancellation number. But they showed up again on our lawn and I told them we cancelled and asked why there was disconnect. They said their manager sent them and that they would let him know we cancelled (but we already had cancelled!). Fast forward to the following week and they showed up again! I told them we cancelled so many times and expressed frustration. My husband called them again and they said this last treatment was free of charge. I paid upfront in February for lawn care consisting of six services. As of September 24th I had received 3 services and a broken sprinkler head. I've called and spoke to numerous people to no avail. SCAM!....no wonder they have lawsuit upon lawsuit filed against them.... We wanted to try them out, and contacted them. Got a hold of a rep - George - turns out he sits in Texas(??)....he gives us an offer for aeration and power-seeding. Ok, and they get their $$.....- we got nothing!!... A week later, we wanted to speak with him: turns out, we can't!! - they don't have a number you can call..."say what??" We call 3 locations, no one knows anything about George in Texas...hhmmmm . Never have I heard of a company you can not call!!! After emailing him, wanting to set up a date for the treatment, he calls us, and we agree on the 10th. My husband calls the local office the day prior, to confirm, and the receptionist confirms the 15th. No, no, no....we had our lawn cut, in preparation of this, and now THEY decide that the date has changed, WITHOUT letting us know. I think not. So, after another email, to George, he calls us, and says "sorry for the hiccup". Hiccup??.- no, YOUR skrewup!. So George tells us "they'll come tomorrow". We come home, and find a slip on the door, letting us know that the "tech" had been here, made a lawn analyst and had made the first treatment with fertilizer and weed control. First of all, I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THAT. Second, I have two cameras in front of my house and they only recorded a van, guy walking up to the house, to handg a slip on the door. HE DID NOTHING TO THE LAWN..... Now, supposedly, they'll come tomorrow for the actual job....well, we shall see.. Having received all but one remaining visit I feel like I have had enough of a sampling to make an informed opinion of this service. I have made numerous complaints about issues with the lawn this year and the answer is always the amount of watering. One tech says too much while another says not enough. They will never address your issues specific to your property because the "plan" is what it is. If it's a fertilizer month, everyone gets fertilizer. Their pre-emergent worked until mid June when my whole property broke out into clover, crabgrass, and nutsedge. I have spent hours picking this stuff by hand AFTER they returned to treat for them. I grew tired of applying Scott's WeedEx and Milorganite fertilizer myself, so paid to have this done and I could not be less impressed. They claim that they will come back for free anytime but they come with an empty truck and blame you for whatever the issue is. I swear they spread weed seeds. I used TruGreen for my lawn service and they made an absolute mess of my lawn...it has never looked worse in the 19 years I've owned my home. They had performed a treatment that burned many areas of my lawn and it took repeated calls to finally have someone come out to look at my lawn. The person who looked at it agreed that it was "burned" and damaged. It took several more calls to have them send someone out to aerate and put seed down. It has been more than 5 weeks and it still looks terrible and now I have many areas of dead grass with weeds running rampant in my lawn. I would not recommend them to service your home!!!! read more

Constant mosquitos this summer because the service people couldn't be bothered to spend more than a couple of minutes on my property. I have camera footage of how little spraying they actually do, let me tell you they practically race through the yard to finish their job as fast as possible. We have a very big yard, and live at the edge of the woods. When they were trying to get my business they said they would walk into the woods a bit to spray on top of the low lying foliage there. They didn't do that at any of the three service visits. After requesting they come back since we had so many bugs that I couldn't sit outside they took over a week getting back here which coincided with their scheduled service anyway. That wasn't accidental. In the meantime one of the few good weather weekends this summer was ruined because the mosquitos were so bad. When I called to express my disatisfaction, the woman on the phone argued with me as if she knew better than I do what was going on with my yard. She should have apologized and looked into why the employees were doing such a sloppy job instead. I cancelled service on the spot, as I had better results spraying my yard myself. read more

THE WORST. I would give no stars if I could, Horrible results and even worse Customer Service. We started using TruGreen last year and we were excited about getting our Lawn full of healthy grass. This did not happen. The week killer killed very few weeds and the lawn treatments did nothing. We paid for a reseeding, but the only result we have is small holes all over our front and back lawn. We had a Service Manager visit our home and he said he was not sure why the reseeding did not take. The weeds got worse and worse. Grass is not growing in any of the reseeding areas. We have holes. He said they would do another reseeding. We raked the entire lawn again to remove the dead grass and prepare for another reseeding. Customer Service is among the worst. I called and waited on hold for 1/2 hour and was disconnected. I tried again the same day and waited 45 minutes and then hung up. I tried using the chat and went from 144 in line to 85 in line in about 1 hour, then I started moving back up in line from 87 and then 92. I finally gave up. No email was returned to address any of the problems we had. All we want now is a Full Refund. We have not received any refund. All they do is say. We will do this and we will do that, but they did nothing. Give us a refund!! read more

Terrible customer service. The 1st time my lawn was serviced, portions of my lawn dried up and the weeds were still thriving. I called customer service who said they would dispatch a technician out to evaluate what the problem was and discuss with me corrective actions. The technician showed up without a clue of the conversation I had with customer service. He said he saw a pending dispatch to treat my lawn and grabbed it. He said the prior technician had over fertilized the lawn and that was why the grass had dried up. He said the grass would return after several watering's which has not. He treated the lawn for the weeds and was on his way. I went on vacation and when I returned the grass was still dried up and the weeds were still there. I called customer service and again they told me that, as I requested a senior technician would meet with me to evaluate the situation. On the day of the dispatch I received a notification that the lawn had been treated. I work from home and my window looks out directly to my front lawn. I had not seen any technician work on the lawn. I called customer support and again the same story. At that point I asked that my contract be terminated which was like pulling teeth for them to cancel. It is to frustrating dealing with this company. read more

Trugreen has been servicing my lawn for a few years. When Trugreen first started working on my property, the lawn was terrible (I thought that we would have to rip it all out and start over). But, with scheduled care, the lawn looks great! They have a treatment for every season and take the guess work out of lawn care. I have been contacted about their other services such as tree care, but I have not used them for that - just the lawn (I have an arborist I use for my trees and I'm happy with them). If I'm not satisfied with the service, I call them and they do their best to make it right. If they think my lawn needs a special treatment like over-seeding (for example), I am contacted and asked if I want to spend the extra money. If I say no, they don't do it. No high pressure. Overall, I am satisfied with Trugreen and recommend them without hesitation. read more

I'm giving 2 stars; 1 to the customer service reps who were always professional, although not fully educated, and 1 to the fact that they did help turn my dirt lawn green. However, it's not the green I thought I'd see (almost all weeds -- when I was paying for weed prevention, go figure). I even called two separate months for them to come back to try again but still no help. I am writing this post today because I paid for an additional pest service to help improve my backyard's beetle problem which got delayed once (no clue why) & then they came today & neglected to do my backyard even after I told the guy face-to-face the backyard was my main concern. I called after a few seconds of him leaving & after 10 mins of holding found out the guy left because of the weather (sun was out shining so I guess a bad excuse?) it would've been okay if he just turned around & finished but instead they tried to delay me another 5 business days which would've given me pest control for about a week of the summer. This company is the worst company in lawn care that there is!!!!!! You are literally paying for what you get with them. There is a reason they are the cheapest company around. Their techs aren't trained properly and there is no continuous training for techs either. The only way to get good service from this company is to hope and pray that the tech coming to your lawn actually cares about the job he is doing. But that is impossible because they pay their techs' the lowest in the industry and work them like dogs. Any good techs that have worked there have left because the company and management doesnt care about their employees. I would know, I used to work for them and left after Trugreen bought Scott's. I was with Scott's for 4 years and 1 year with Trugreen. I know how they operate and the only thing they care about is customer retention. Customers are a number to them. They only care about getting your money and not about providing quality service. The techs dont even properly calibrate their spray guns to properly apply at the right rate for your lawn. This means that the amount of fertilizer being applied to your lawn is incorrect. As a customer you are being shorted fertilizer that you are paying for. If you complain enough about the service and threaten to cancel they will waive your balance majority of the time because all they want to do is keep you as a customer. Please please please, if you value your lawn or care about how company's treat their employees, STAY AWAY FROM TRUGREEN AT ALL COSTS!!! I paid for the Mosquito Defense. The guy came out almost two weeks later, and sprayed lazily in the rain. Of course, the next day I was still getting bit up. When they called to check how it went (and to upsell me), and I told them it didn't seem to work, they offered to come back. But a week and a half later, they never showed up, so I cancelled the service. I think they focus on sales above actually providing a good service. The tech who had come out should know that they spray can't be applied in the rain, and he made no effort to create a real buffer around m property (I have heavy foliage all around, so it needs to be sprayed up and down). I'm going back to Mosquito Squad, who did a great job last season. I only tried TruGreen because I received a promotional mailer and thought I'd give it a try since they are a big company.
