We arrived early for our appointments and were quickly greeted, given forms and asked to use slippers. Within a few minutes, I was taken in for my massage and my friend to her facial. The rooms are lovely, and the spa itself is quite small. Fully functional and they're making great use of the space, but definitely small. My massage was awesome... deep tissue, which is my preference! She worked some magic indeed! When doing more than one treatment, you change into a robe. They have a lidded basket for your belongings and it's taken to your next room with you. I relaxed in one of the pedicure chairs drinking cucumber water while I waited for my facial. Rooms were changed out quickly and the aesthetician took me into her room. She did a great job, however was a little heavy handed a couple times and really spoke too quickly in the beginning, coming across as extremely rushed. As a medical aesthetician myself, it seemed a bit odd, since it didn't come across as calming, which is generally a goal. I kept my credentials to myself, because I personally like to see how services are provided and preformed when they don't know. When all was said and done, I was quite relaxed and we were both very happy with the experience overall. So much more than the local spa we went to last year... to the point that my friend didn't even remember where we went. I guess you know it's less than mediocre when you've blocked it from your memory. As I sat in the entry putting on my shoes, we wondered what they do with the slippers, hoping they're not put on the rack for someone else to wear... moments later a gal comes out with antibacterial wipes, wipes them clean and puts them away. She gave me a list of a bunch of other places to visit while I'm here in Alaska and the mani / pedi she gave me was one of the best!! I did a regular polish pedicure and a shellac manicure. I don't know how she picked off all my cuticles without cutting me! She got so low and was really meticulous about giving me a neat look. I've heard of this place a few months ago because a co-workers friends daughter has came here before. My friend found this place because they're open til 12 am (REALLY good thing if you work nights, but more on that later) so she called me and we went in at 10:00pm and actually got massages! The owner called a guy, who thought he wasn't working there anymore, and he stopped by to give my friend and I massages. I went first while she got a mani-pedi. By the time I was done, somehow she still wasn't done! She only had her toes done, so she went in to get her massage. We paid and left, with the owner promising to give her mani part of the mani/pedi for $10 tomorrow afternoon...because the owner said that she isn't a morning person....I guess. We came at noon to a closed store....wtf? My friend kept calling the business phone to just get her voicemail. Later that day she calls us and tells her that her employee got her purse stolen and that the store keys were in the same purse and she had to make copies. Sounded like a bs excuse to not open her store (since she did mention that she isn't a morning person so she must have chosen to wake up late), but we agreed to go there at 10:30 pm the next day. So the next day comes and we go there at around 10:20....why is she closing the store early?!?! Her excuse? "Oh I'm so sorry I forgot!" So we're told to come in the day after at noon. By then we really should've given up but we didn't because both of our work schedules are crazy and we try to to girly things together...SO WE GO IN AGAIN...and this time she's there. She starts taking care of me immediately because I have to work at 1:30, and my friend has to wait for the other girl to come. My friend waited for a cool 45 minutes before she comes speeding in. My nails were done okay, the designs were really nice, but the fill was subpar and my nails weren't straight even when I asked her to fix it. Luckily my nails ($42 for my crappy fill and good designs w/rhinestones btw...smh) were done in less than an hour even though they had flaws. My friends "simple" manicure however took two hours!! Also for some reason, they put a gel coat on her natural nails (instead of arcrylics like its supposed to), so the two hour mani peeled off the same day. This review is way too long to mention her making fun of her employees at their expense. Long paragraph huh? Well that was our experience there. It gets a half star for being open late when she feels like it, and the other half star for doing decent nail designs. I see on her website that she does a lot of different nail art that nobody else has yet like aqua nails, but I won't be back to try it out because of the reputation she has given herself to my friends, my friends friends, and of course myself. I commend her for running a business that is supposed to close late at night, but be consistent please. I'll find another place.

Compared to my last visit, the facilities seemed in perfect order.
