Came here for dinner with friends and WOW. Everything was incredible. I was most excited about the kunefe (kanafe in Israel/Palestine) because I lived in Israel for 2 years and have not been able to find this dessert on a restaurant menu anywhere, other than purchasing it frozen from a specialty grocery. We started with calamari for an appetizer and the complimentary bread with sun dried tomato dipping oil. The bread was focaccia like and yummy and the calamari was decent, although their "Turkish tartar sauce" was definitely not tartar sauce - more like olive tapenade. I had Sultans Special, and my friends got the Turkish flatbread Lahmacun (pronounced "Lamajoon") and lamb kebab. Sultans Special was good and reminded me of ragu on top of baba ganoush; it was a lamb dish on top of roasted eggplant purée. The Lahmacun had a unique flavor of ground lamb and parsley, and the lamb kebab was marinated and seasoned incredibly well. All meals are large portions and could easily be split between 2 people. This is great considering it is a bit pricey and I would consider it a special occasion restaurant. We finished with the kunefe and Turkish tea with sugar cubes. The kunefe was just as good as the original in Israel (it originated in Nablus in the West Bank) and reminded me so much of when I lived overseas. This was by far my favorite part of the meal. ALL MEAT IS HALAL! Came to Truva to celebrate my brother's birthday and it was phenomenal! From the complimentary bread to the kunefe. Everything was delicious. We had 5 and had plenty leftover from our meal. We first ordered the appetizer sampler. We loved the hummus and baba but the beans were so tasty and not like anything we've had from a Turkish restaurant before. The grape leaves also were divine. We ordered the chef's mixed grill for our main course. There was every meat you could want on a platter on top of some bulgar. The bulgar was delicious but not enough for the amount of meat we had. I also wish that they added more vegetables. There was maybe a broccoli, a piece of cauliflower, half a tomato cut in two, a while jalapeño and then three carrots. The meat was so tasty and cooked to perfection. The bread we had to keep coming, it was so good! We finished off the meal with the kunefe and it was very good. This place gives you the wow factor as soon as you step inside. It is an open kitchen concept and it's really amazing to see them cooking and plating the food. Speaking of the food it was delicious and very flavorful. I know some have reported some things being bland but every meal I have had to from them was spectacular. They have many offerings for carnivore and the vegetarian alike. And i must confess service was also on point. The first i went it was just my wife and I but the next time we came with a big group and were taken care of really well, despite them being very busy on a Saturday night. Tips to make your visit a success: 1) Make a reservation. We did not just appear with a large crowd but rather we made a reservation and thus were seated immediately and well cared for. 2) Embrace the menu. SPEECHLESS!!! I'm from out of town and was looking for a good Mediterranean restaurant to eat at. This place not only is gorgeous in the inside and has polite and friendly staff but the food is TOP TIER. I came back 2 days in a row. Their lentil soup? Good flavor. Tabouleh? I added lemon cause I like it more acidic but great size and flavor for $10. For a table of 3 we shared a Lahmacun or a "Turkish pizza" and honestly this is what had me dying it was so good. We also shared a mixed grill for 2 and between the hunger and the perfectly seasoned meats we all ate in complete silence. For dessert we had kunefa and it's top 2 I've tried ever. Have visited here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch - both experiences have been overall good, however both times the meal has been rushed, they can immediately seat you which is great, but then rush you ordering drinks and ordering your meal. This does not give you enough time to take in their very extensive menu. I appreciate that the menu is marked with allergens . During my last visit I had the spicy chicken lunch which was a larger portion than I expected which was nice! The spice was not too hot, just the perfect level. It is appreciated that they bring you a water carafe and refill frequently. As I am GF I was not able to try the bread they brought before the meal but it looked very tasty. A few of us shared the Appetizer Sampler for 4 - it had great variety and tasted great, but we were a little surprised at the portion size for four people. For the entrée, I ordered the Cokertme Kebab and it was deeeelicious! Think a pile of fried potatoes smothered in garlic yogurt with ground meat and tomato sauce. When we first walked in, we were asked if we had reservations, which we did not, but that was not an issue on Sunday afternoon. I did feel a little underdressed in a tee and jeans. It is a really nice and elegant atmosphere. We previewed the menu before going as there are lots of options. We ordered the tabbouleh as an appetizer. It was good but needed something to enhance the flavor. The bread was soooo soft and the oil dip was a nice addition. With the bread and dip one really does not need an appetizer. I ordered the Shepherd Casserole and my husband ordered the Spicy Chicken Saute both came with rice but he asked if extra vegetables could be substituted with his. Both dishes were enough to share. Amazing Turkish restaurant! It's all around perfect - the ambiance, the staff, and more importantly - the quality of food. We ordered a few different dishes - dolma aka stuffed grape leaves, falafel plate, different kebabs, and sultans favorite. The food came out quickly and everything tasted perfect - very flavorful, fresh, and decent portions. You also get some pita bread while waiting to snack on. At the end, we tried their special ice cream, some pastries, ayran, Turkish coffee, and tea - they all were on par with the food. Just all around great. We went Saturday afternoon and the hostess was very friendly and welcoming but when it came to the waiter he was somewhat rude. He seemed very bothered to serve us. He only came to take the order and bring the food. I had to try to catch his attention several time to order spicy sauce. We ordered the Chicken Adana Kebab, and the octopus salad. The salad did not taste well, the dressing was overwhelmingly sweet. And it had I think pepper pieces that were no chewable. The chicken was okay but the small boil salad side was bland and so was bulgur. The best part of this meal was the complementary bread and oil dip, that tasted delicious. I fell in love with Turkish food when I was in the UK. Not sure if it was local to the Bexley Heath area or if all of the UK has a lot of Turkish places, but regardless I enjoyed them. Truva did not disappoint. We had actually stopped here a few weeks ago, but did not have a reservation and the wait was pretty long. Make sure to get a reservation if you are going during prime hours! The service was excellent. I do not think there was anything that could have made it better. We actually arrived 20 mins before our reservation and they sat us instantly. We had our water, drinks, and starters order taken within minutes of arriving. Quickly followed by our mains. I loved the layout of the place. It was a great combination of practical and style meeting each other. Seeing the fire with the bread being made was a nice touch. Also, that guy baking the bread was killing it! I do not think he stopped the entire time we were there and the pile of bread didn't really increase or decrease. I wanted to take a picture of the oven, but would have been in the middle of a family to get a good shot. Probably best I didn't. I cannot say enough about the food. We have had Take Out from here a few times, but it does not do the presentation justice. I cannot imagine how much food comes out for a Mixed Grill for 4 people! We have another meal in the fridge right now for sometime this week from all of the leftovers. Whether it is Take Out or Dine Inn the food here is exceptional. The dining experience though really sets it apart from other places in the area. We happened to have a small group, but there were a couple larger 6 plus ones that looked to be accommodated fine. Truva was the truth!! This place is totally worth checking out. Both dishes we ordered were samplers of many different options on their menu which I thought was cool that they offered. The highlights for me were the meats in our entree. All of them were extremely flavorful and tender. We ordered the dinner for two and had lots of leftovers... definitely a good value. The interior was trendy and the kitchen looked very impressive. My only recommendation would be to address the music choice. When I was there, the same song seemed to be playing over and over. In my opinion, with how this place is decorated it should have upbeat music playing, maybe even a little louder to add mood. My husband and I are in love with Mediterranean food and this is one of the best here in Cincinnati. Don't ever sleep on this one. The owners and staff are really nice with good dining atmosphere. We were served with warm handmade pita bread with sundried tomatoes olive oil dip. So good, we asked for more. My husband ordered stewed lamb shank, delicious juicy meat that falls off the bone. We got lucky on this for a first timer since this is not in their menu, they only make this a few times/month. It's one of their specialty. I ordered chicken kebab(tender and delicious) with vegetable and bulgur pilaf. They also make their own baklava, buttery and not overwhelmingly sweet, just perfect! Saw Truva on a local Instagram page and had to give it a try. Checking out the menu, I could have gone many ways with so much great Mediterranean to pick from. My wife and I started out with an order of hummus. Pretty boring start, you say? Nah, this was amazing hummus. Creamy, so creamy and garlicky but not too much garlic. Just a nice layer of oil, not a pool. Served with a basket full of thick foccacia, rather than traditional pita. Then I had the stuffed cabbage. Wow, so very delicious. Three nice sized cabbage rolls. Cabbage was cooked well so that it cut with a fork. The lamb and beef mix was very tasty. Served with yogurt, adding an unexpected element to the dish. Could have used a touch more sauce, but still... mmmmm! My wife had the shepherds casserole. The eggplant was as good as anything we had all night. The lamb was also tasty. I will say that the menu is a bit pricy. Entrees in the mid $20s and most apps in the teens, but all worth the price. The restaurant doesn't have a bar and I'm not sure if you can BYO. Service was very good. We were in and out in under an hour. Finally, I can't finish without mentioning, they use some odd reservation system on their website (which my browser warned me was a risky web page) and for the life of me, I couldn't make the reservation. I called and someone answered that I couldn't understand. So we went early without a reservation. Please, please, please get open table or Yelp reservation system. read more
