A solid just ok spot for me. My no chip manicure started chipping on day 5. I waited to see how the manicure lasted before writing this review. Positives Tons of polish colors. I saw that they literally had 1000+ no chip colors available. I did not feel like they were trying to upsell me. New client discount if post your nails on social media. This made cost very reasonable. They took me within 10 minutes of arriving as a walk in client. Staff was friendly. Room for improvement Decor seemed sloppy. I came in February and still had Christmas decor up. Cuticle removal and filing of nails not done well. Only ok. read more

Try Me Nails is tucked into a mostly vacant strip mall, which at least means there's no problem finding parking. From the outside, you can't really see in because the windows are covered with advertisements, but once you step inside it has a trendy, updated look. Checking in wasn't the warmest experience, the front desk staff came across a bit cold, didn't offer me a beverage, or give me much direction other than, "Pick your color." I sat a little past my appointment time without much reassurance that someone would be with me soon. Thankfully, my nail tech, Emma, completely turned the experience around. She was kind, gentle, and professional. I had been putting off a pedicure for far too long, and she never made me feel embarrassed or uncomfortable about it. She wasn't rough, carried a nice balance of conversation without being overwhelming, and just made the whole appointment enjoyable. I absolutely adored her and she's the reason I'll keep coming back. The pedicure itself was great, I opted for the Lux Three pedicure, which included some pretty unique features! There was chairs that massage your back and even your bottom, plus hand massagers and steamers. At $68 which included a $20 tip, I still felt like I got solid value, especially compared to other places where I'd pay close to $100 for the same level of service. That said, there are a few things that could be improved. The massage chairs and some of the equipment seemed pretty rundown. I also noticed long black hairs on the floor and small details around the décor that felt unfinished or not well maintained. These things definitely took away from the overall polished look they seemed to be going for. In short: Emma made the experience worth it, and I'll return because of her. But the salon overall could benefit from stronger customer service at the front desk and a little more attention to cleanliness and upkeep. read more

The poor girl took forever and you Can tell that she is so unsure even what to do as she kept asking for help. She was struggling holding the tools. I was admittedly intrigued with the 30% off discount they were advertising so I decided to stop in. The inside kind of reminded me of a great clips. If you are expecting a nice salon setting this is not the place to go. I was in just for a manicure. I looked through their decent selection and chose my color. My nail tech was very kind and even helped me pick my color. The small talk with my nail tech was nice. However, I wished that they would have dipped my hands in warm water. My cuticles were just pushed back and it definitely hurt. When she was cutting them she broke the skin on one of my fingers. I also didn't enjoy the unfitting music selection and the tv shows that were playing. My nails turned out fine but this just wasn't the experience I was hoping for. I guess you get what you pay for. If you want a quick affordable manicure and don't necessarily care if the experience is relaxing then this is your place. read more

I'm kinda shocked at the amount of forced 5 star reviews on google for a discounted price. This is a new place that opened up where Darien Nails used to be. They try real hard to pamper you and are friendly. They have Massage chairs, Hand massagers, Heating pads & heated neck warmer (kinda nasty to be using in between customers), Steamer (hard water scales in reservoir). Price was great! 30% off opening deal (got gel mani pedi for 2000's prices). The business was poppin with people coming in for the discounted prices with not enough staff. This however meant rushing with one customer to serve another in a quantity vs quality situation. Pro: friendly. Great trial prices. Amazing abundant selection of colors and styles. Con: My appt started half hr later which was understandable due to this being a new business. Poor cuticle trimming, pretending to cut/scrape cuticle (I like techs that focus on cuticle trimming). Lack of hygiene (nail trimmings/callus from other clients on table and floors). Re-sealed tools in package without sanitizing. Lack of dedicated time to a single client at a time. I just had my nails done and as an AfroLatina woman I was offended by the treatment I received. The young lady who did my nails was very unprofessional. She clearly wasn't interested in doing my nails. How do I know? Because the owner or manager told her in Spanish what kind of service I wanted and she audibly sighed "ugh!" Maybe she doesn't like that type of service, fine, unprofessional display though. She didn't speak hardly at all to me. I was getting a manicure and she asked if I wanted her to file my nails....well it's a manicure so I would assume that should be standard order. Once the work was completed she did say "have a nice day" but didn't make any move to collect my payment. I went to the desk to pay and one of the other nail techs finally called out to staff that "la prieta" ,the darkie, essentially was at the desk ready to pay. Does that sound like a professional way to alert staff of a customer at the desk. La mujer, la señora, esa muchacha morena would have worked. I have never had my nails cut with a cuticle trimmer. Never got a hand massage with lotion. Was charged an extra $5 for coming in with polish on my toes from another salon that they had to remove. I was told the owner was making them do that. Had foam flip flops put on my feet even though I wore flip flops-I should have spoke up. Clumps of lotion left on my ankles-never rubbed in. Too many issues to go back-I passed 3 salons to get there. read more

The poor reviews are more accurate I've been here a few times and experienced the same price changes after discussion in Spanish, appointments not being honored, questionable service quality, requests not being honored. Ppl are literally beefing up the good reviews for a discount to make the service match the price. Color selection is the best part and mainly why I go. Definitely unprofessional and all that Spanish music and tv show selection is trash it's not geared toward the customers it's for the employees. Receptionist was a gem. Very welcoming and professional. I went in for builder gel, and French. My tech, Rosie, didn't speak English which is completely fine. My issue was with the service itself and the absolute disrespect that followed. The gel was uneven, dips and valleys all over. My base color didn't resemble the inspiration and was uneven (you could see through certain areas of the color). I stopped my service, was polite, and another young tech walked over and asked me what was wrong - very confrontational. I never raised my voice, tried to keep it quiet until she cut my sister off for trying to explain what was wrong. She cut her off and looked at me and asked what was wrong completely avoiding my sister. I handed her my hand and said you're a nail tech why don't you tell me what's wrong after she proceeded to act entitled. She acted oblivious to the horrendous job and I said this is horribly done. I asked for the manager four times, nobody owned up until another lady miss frizzle hair, stomped over, ignored me and didn't look at me and asked the entitled tech what's wrong. They wanted to fix it - no way because my sisters service was also stopped mid way before mine for horrendous post-filing shaping. I don't have time to waste. This salon lacks talent, why would I trust anybody else to work on my nails to try to "fix them". I also witnessed a lack of sanitary procedures which the health department will be hearing about. The "manager" called my personal number after I left and threatened me from her personal cell number claiming racism and how I only speak one language. English is not my first language Aracely sadly for you. BBB will also be hearing about this and I believe these techs are unlicensed after what I observed which I am gladly reporting as well. This is the nicest nail salon I have ever used. Clean, pleasant people on contact. I am easy, just a regular pedicure and basic manicure with clear polish. Warm towel while getting pedicure is heaven. Never pushed for other services. Flower did both services the first time I was there, she was great so I requested her for my recent manicure. I came in for a simple soak-off, which was listed on the site as $10. The service itself was fine, and the lady who helped me was nice. I asked her to cut down my nails, and she said "no problem." However, when I went to pay, the total was about $17- they charged an extra $5 just to cut down my nails, which wasn't mentioned beforehand. It caught me off guard, but since they're a new business, I paid without making a fuss, but was thrown off. I admired a woman's nails and she told me about this place. I had a friend's wedding coming up and I needed some length on my nails. I booked the Gel X service with Finn, who was recommended. I also booked a pedicure for the next day at 9:30am due to time constraints. I called to maneuver the time a bit and let them know I may want to add a design. I showed up and Finn seemed annoyed about doing my nails, nothing like I had heard. I showed him a pic and he was very short about it, so I changed and just chose a solid color. He didn't speak with me about the service further and when I asked questions he gave short and rude answers. The whole time there was a tech next to us holding a great conversation with her client and asking all the right questions. I wish I had booked with her. I asked if they would be too thick he said no, but they were very thick. I asked if him to cut them and he did not. They were too long and I had to file them down myself. The next day I arrived at 9:20am for my pedicure, but the door was locked and no one was there. I waited until 9:38 before I left. I had other appointments and did not want to have my pedicure go over in time or be rushed. No one called to inquire about my missed appointment, they cancelled it at 9:50. I decided to give them another chance because I know how businesses can have bad days. This time I booked a master for a no chip, but I was hoping to talk to my master tech about other options. My nails were weak and breaking. I got a tech who did not want to be there. When introduced I told her the color I wanted and that my nails were so weak. She was very quiet and finally asked me if I spoke Spanish, unfortunately I do not, but after I told her that she shut down entirely and carried on a conversation in Spanish with the tech next to me. My manicure started horribly. She barely put any cuticle remover on and then pretended to push back dry cuticles, never reapplying the remover. She then tried to use a drill on my already weak nails and I had to stop her and remind her they were weak. She started to cut, just skin and air, because my cuticles were not pushed back. When she pulled out the orange stick to remove small dry pieces, I stopped her, got up and left. Letting the front desk know that I didn't feel comfortable with her experience. Today must have been an Off day for Araceli. reason being she did my nails before and SMOKED them A1 outcome i was so impressed . but today it seemed as though she didn't want to be present . claimed she couldn't do a simple design i asked for and passed me off to someone else . that someone named Emma approached me very rude "where your picture" no greeting no nothing . at that point i didn't even want my design anymore . i walked out with plain black polish ALOT of dead skin still on my fingers as well as extra nail that should've been cut off . i was not asked how could they fix anything , just told how much my payment was and sent out the door . i will NEVER BOOK with Emma or Araceli . only tip i have for them is to do better and work on their attitude . i paid for a manicure and all i got was my polish taken off , my cuticles pushed back and clipped my nails filed and polished . I have been to the salon 3 times. The third time my nails were Cracking and the note chip color was peeling off. I work a 167 miles from Darien Illinois which is my home. I called the salon in spoke to someone who told me that I could come back and they would fix my nails without charge. I went the salon today and was told that for my services the cost would be $35. I had taken pictures of my Nama's cracking within a few days of them being done and they did not want to see them. I told the sales associate that I did not bring my credit card because I was assured that they would be taken care of without charge. The man at the cash register also told me that my nails would be taken care of without charge and later recanted when his superior came to the register. The sales associate told me that if I left the salon without paying that I would no longer be welcome in their salon. For this experience, I would not recommend the salon As their policy and customer service was poor today. I was really hoping to support a Latina business as the Asian businesses in the area are on every street corner and wanted to give another ethnicity my business. For this reason, I would not recommend them to my friends and family. read more

Saw this business was up and coming and decided to take advantage of their 30% off coupon. Now I definitely see why there were offering 30% off. Business was very disorganized, employees constantly shouting out if someone else has x, y, z color and employee said no one puts things back where they belong. I usually like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but the nice lady that was doing my nails definitely did not have the knowledge to properly execute my service that was requested and as for my friend they waited until we showed up on site to tell her that the woman that was meant to do her acrylic fill, did not show up. My nails were dip powder and at one point she had filed off some of the dip and when she asked for help from another lady, the lady used the cuticle pusher that was used on my nails, put it into the dip powder jar, and scooped the powder onto my nails to try and fix her mistake. god bless if you use dip powder 146. place seems very unorganized and after seeing that, very unsanitary. nails came out very lumpy and busted. read more
