Directly after my pedicure, before beginning my nails at the nail station, she insisted that I pay for my nails at that moment or else she wouldn't do my pedicure. I started coming to this place due to convenience. It's right next door to a grocery store and it's a big place and I never have had to wait. Rose is my technician and is very professional and has done a great job with my nails. I've had the basic mani and pedi. I have never had a problem with trimming of my nails or nail polish chipping soon after application. Lots of colors to choose from and they of course offer other mail services. I have been to this salon a few times over the years, when my girl is off at my salon. It has never been my "Go to place". The girl who answers the phone & makes appointments (Fancy), also does nails at the same time. I never had any problem with her taking reservations while doing my nails. However; the last time she was doing my nails, a lot of calls were coming in. When another call came in, I thought "Great! I can run to the bathroom"! I was happy to be able to go & wasn't gone longer than 2 min. tops. She chastised me when I got back! She told me "If I didn't like her answering the phone, I could go to someone else"! At first, I thought she was joking. Then realized she was not. I told her I just needed to use the restroom for a minute while she was busy & that I had no problem with her taking calls. She repeated herself & I thought, okay, I won't go to her again. Came in one last time. Had the worst pedicure in my life, by a guy with a bad attitude. My first visit here was just the other day and during one of the busiest weekends before the Christmas holiday. My regular nail salon was overbooked so I decided to give World Star a try. It was very busy but I figured it would go a little quicker because they had a lot of techs working and the place is huge. The gentleman working the front desk (perhaps the manager) was very nice and was doing his best to coordinate everyone. I requested a manicure & pedicure and waited about 5 minutes to be taken back to the pedicure chair. I waited another 25 minutes until the next tech was ready. No biggie considering how busy it was. The tech was very rough and jabbed my nails to clean them. His massage was also very strong but I enjoyed it. I can see where others might think it was a bit too rough. While I was there I overheard an elderly woman getting upset with her nail tech regarding having made an appointment but not being taken care of during that time. She said it has happened to her multiple times and "if you weren't so great at doing my nails I would never come back here." I did overhear them telling people to make appointments but it doesn't seem like that would help much considering the hectic time of year. Pros: The standard pedicure comes with a sugar scrub. Large space. Clean and comfortable facility. Cons: During my pedicure, my nail tech placed the hot towels on my legs & then left for a smoke break! He came back reeking of cigarettes. I think $45 for a basic manicure & pedicure is a little steep. My biggest issue!!: I work at a company that uses sterilization pouches so I'm familiar with how to use them and what they look like when used. World Star Nails is pulling a bs illusion move on their customers! The techs bring out the nail tools in one of these pouches and empty them from the pouch to the tray. This gives you the impressing that these tools have been sterilized in the pouch. THEY HAVE NOT! The pouches that I saw were not sealed and the indicator hadn't changed colors so the tools were not sterilized in those pouches! It seems silly that they are pulling this move and trying to indicate to their customers that each tool has been sterilized. I'm sure they have been cleaned but if you're not actually using the pouch and sterilizing in them, then why bother trying to fool your customers? Purely based on this catch, I won't return. read more

Came in when I saw the 20% off sign while shopping at Jewel one day. I went on a Tuesday around 5 pm and did not have to wait. They had hundreds of no chip colors. I'm on day 10 and my color has not chipped yet. I appreciate that you can tip on your card. It was very spacious and clean inside. My nail tech said the 20% goes until June. I have been coming to world star since opening because the place I was going and love was always so packed. When I would get a pedicure and a dipped manicure, they would have 2 people working on me at the same time. Out within an hour. For working people that is what we need. Unfortunately at world star, even with 2 separate people doing the work, they don't work at the same time and it took over 3 hours. Would love to keep giving you my business but won't be able to if I need both done. I honestly think you will get more business if you fix this. She apologized and didn't mean it of course, but it's five days later and it's so infected that I can't put a shoe on and will have to see a doctor. My daughter got a gel fill and nails were lumpy. I've gone to this place several times but recently had a terrible experience that I'm still dealing with one month later. One of the men removed my nails which had been dipped a couple weeks prior. He took so much off the top layer, that my nails bled underneath and burned after going home. One month later, I'm still waiting for half my nail to grow back as the tips are still thin to the point you can see a light layer of blood underneath. I've had my no chips and dips removed several times without issue-I would caution to not allow them to use anything other than foil to remove a dip (he used an electric nail file I think). read more

So I had a coupon for this place. $48 for No chip manicure and spa pedicure. When I walked in I was warmly greeted by Kelly, she offered me hand sanitizer and had me sign a waiver. Which I thought was great everyone had on mask and gloves & I could see the staff sanitizing areas after customers. Kelly started with my pedicure, she used new tools for my pedicure fresh out the package. No cross contamination! Kelly noticed that I had an infection in my big toe from an ingrown toenail I didn't even know I had. Kelly was so gentle when cleaning and clipping around the area of my big toe. I live in woodridge and traveled to Frankfort to get my nails done did this for over 4yrs. See I work in landscaping and as you know a hands on job. Needless to say you need strong nail but to say on and not lift (that was always the problem I ran into with other salons).I do long gel nails and NO they are not thick!! Very natural. Mind you my hands are working hands & on weekends Im a makeup artist so I need to have professional pretty hands. Lol When they opened this salon here in Darien. Now my back yard. I was told they couldn't service me for a polish change because the only nail tech who could take off polish were busy. I'm confused... soooo you mean to tell me no one here could change my polish?! This was the fastest pedicure I have ever gotten... and it's not a good thing! The foot massage she gave me was not really a massage- more like just spreading the lotion on my leg! There was no pressure at all! And she didn't use clean water to rinse the soap off my leg! After she put the nail polish, I inspected it and the cuticles weren't cleaned off good and I had to tell her to "snip it off" more and also apply more nail polish on my 5th toe because I could still see some nail. She got acrylic nails & they were so thick they looked horrible and pudgy and they were not shaped right. She went to a new nail place to get them fixed, they were that bad and the second nail place said they were terrible and were shocked! I got a dip & I asked the gentleman to file my nails and cut them down a little and he said they were fine within one day I had a cracked nail and proceeded to go back to have it repaired and waited very long in which the owner was very rude to me when I went back.
