New Prospect Veterinary Hospital wrk with our schedule. They were very accommodating. After getting Coco there, they did some X-rays and blood work. The Dr. brought me back and showed me Coco's results. Her lab work was abnormal and she had a large tumor in her liver. The Dr. told me she felt it was time. I went outside and got my husband and my son who had Coco with them. We all went into an exam room. They came in and the Dr. Got on the floor with Coco (she weighed 78 lbs) and gently gave her a sedative injection in one of her back legs. She told us she could tell she was a sweet girl when she looked into her beautiful brown eyes. She had just met her for the 1st time and could tell what a great dog she was. She left the room for a few minutes so we could spend a bit more time with her. About 15-20 minutes later, she came back. Coco was hardly breathing by then. The Dr. Have her the final injection very gently. Coco passed away with her head on my adult son's lap. We were told to take all the time we needed. After a few minutes, we came out and left. Today, a week later, we received the sweetest sympathy card from their office. Everyone had signed it . They are the most kind and compassionate veterinarian office we've ever been too. From the time we walked in, everyone was so sweet. More importantly, they all spoke so sweetly to our Coco. We will always sing your praises to everyone. I wish we had met under better circumstances, and as sad and heartbroken as we are, I have to say New Prospect Veterinary Hospital is the very best. This office was able to fit my animals in no problem. I brought them in and I was shocked at how well they were doing when picking them up. I've had pets done in the past and they were very groggy and out of it the rest of the night. The vet did a great job! The incisions were clean and smaller than I've ever seen. They had no bruising like some have had from other places. Plus they don't try to push other services on you. The stitches came out 2 weeks later and everything was great and it didn't take long to get it done, plus it was included with the procedure. I would highly recommend this office to bring your pets if you don't want to deal with a pushy office.

The bad: the vet mis-diagnosed a fungal skin infection as a type of alopecia that is common to dogs with my pet's particular coloration. She said there was no treatment and I'd just have to "live with it". After consultation with another vet, the infection was treated with a common anti-fungal creme and shampoo. It's almost completely cleared up now. I don't want to use a vet who mis-diagnosed what was apparently a fairly common skin ailment.

Our dog was in so much pain and wouldn't even let us handle her tail anymore. We call first thing on a Friday morning and they were able to fit us in within 20 minutes despite a full schedule that day! Even more so, Dr. Smith took her time to sit down and explain the diagnosis and treatment options for us. She was even able to sedate our dog so that she could have her tail wrapped without panicking and wrote prescriptions for us. Overall, this was one of the best veterinary experiences we have ever had with any of our three dogs and I cannot thank Dr. Smith and her team enough for fitting us in so quickly and taking the time to heal our baby!!

I asked the receptionist at the front desk how much the cost of pain management was for an abandoned cat (that I took in) that I had neutered yesterday, she said without hesitation $12.00. I was charged $17.40. This is the main reason I loathe dealing with Veterinarians today. Back in the day, they were honest and actually cared about the pets and their owners, today the vets are more concerned with money and not honesty. What goes around comes around!
