New Prospect Veterinary Hospital wrk with our schedule. They were very accommodating. After getting Coco there, they did some X-rays and blood work. The Dr. brought me back and showed me Coco's results. Her lab work was abnormal and she had a large tumor in her liver. The Dr. told me she felt it was time. I went outside and got my husband and my son who had Coco with them. We all went into an exam room. They came in and the Dr. Got on the floor with Coco (she weighed 78 lbs) and gently gave her a sedative injection in one of her back legs. She told us she could tell she was a sweet girl when she looked into her beautiful brown eyes. She had just met her for the 1st time and could tell what a great dog she was. She left the room for a few minutes so we could spend a bit more time with her. About 15-20 minutes later, she came back. Coco was hardly breathing by then. The Dr. Have her the final injection very gently. Coco passed away with her head on my adult son's lap. We were told to take all the time we needed. After a few minutes, we came out and left. Today, a week later, we received the sweetest sympathy card from their office. Everyone had signed it . They are the most kind and compassionate veterinarian office we've ever been too. From the time we walked in, everyone was so sweet. More importantly, they all spoke so sweetly to our Coco. We will always sing your praises to everyone. I wish we had met under better circumstances, and as sad and heartbroken as we are, I have to say New Prospect Veterinary Hospital is the very best. The bad: the vet mis-diagnosed a fungal skin infection as a type of alopecia that is common to dogs with my pet's particular coloration. She said there was no treatment and I'd just have to "live with it". After consultation with another vet, the infection was treated with a common anti-fungal creme and shampoo. It's almost completely cleared up now. I don't want to use a vet who mis-diagnosed what was apparently a fairly common skin ailment.

They used to have 3 vets, but are down to 1 now...this has been the case for more than three months. I don't know if this is indicative of a problem. I can say I have never had an issue with the quality of the care my pet has gotten there. But now it's impossible to get an appointment in a reasonable time frame.

We have 2 Mini-Australian Shepherds and one is very fear reactive as he was attacked on trails many times as a young puppy. We had other trainers tell us our male dog would never live a normal life and could never be around other dogs or children. Guiding Canines took the time to understand our dogs and create a meticulous training plan! They simulated real life situations since we had a baby on the way with noisy toys, crying dolls, strollers... the WORKS! We are so grateful for them! Our dogs did really well with the arrival of our son thanks to Guiding Canines! We stayed in contact with them and just moved to the East Coast. We were so excited to be near Guiding Canines again! They have taken care of our dogs and setup a follow-up training schedule while we get our house settled. They're extremely flexible but always keep the dogs best interest at the forefront. Recently, they helped facilitate a vet visit for one of our pups to get checked out. I highly recommend this team because they are truly phenomenal! Excellent rehabilitation facility for your four legged friend. Staff was very nice. They are always…read morebooked. So even though I tried to set up appointments before we first arrived for a two week vacation it was not possible. And asked what information they needed from my regular vet, paperwork etc...the process was not smooth. Their procedures were cumbersome. Perhaps a designated person for setting up appointments and explaining their policies would have been better. Everything is computerized, text, billing too. But ultimately the staff is great.

They do not listen to your concerns or address them them, especially the manager. I took my elderly dog there for a weak hind end. No exercises no stretching. He just got weaker. For 2 weeks they cost me $700 for nothing but a few minutes ofligh5 therapy I could have done at home. The manager didn't even care. Rehab can be terrific for dogs. Just not at this place. They take your money but don't help in.my experience.
