A great place to have a beer and a bite. Friendly owner and decent people abound. Cold beer, fun environment.

I had the wings combo, which was 10 wings and tater tots (with an option for fries). My brother and nephew had the same thing. They have a range of sauces or rubs you can choose. I have a wimpy palette so I had the honey bourbon BBQ. The wings were excellent, crispy skin and moist inside. The sauce was very nice also. The tater tots were great but there are a LOT of them. One person could order for two. Then we were there on Sunday and loved that they had TVs tuned to a few different games. Definitely worth a visit.

Ambiance: Our server Tristan was excellent, friendly, and attentive. The food came out quickly, and the restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating options. The lighting is on the dimmer side, and there are lots of TVs for entertainment. Drinks: We ordered a Moscow Mule and a Lemon Drop Martini. The Lemon Drop was sweet, refreshing, and smooth without a strong alcohol taste. The Moscow Mule was equally enjoyable, with a crisp ginger beer that added a nice fizz. Pretzel Bites: These were golden, crispy, and delicious. They came with honey mustard and queso, both of which paired perfectly, though the bites were flavorful enough to enjoy on their own. All-Meat Pizza: One of the best pizzas I have had. It was loaded with cheese and a great mix of meats, rich and savory. The bacon stood out in particular. It was crispy, smoky, and packed with flavor that really elevated the whole pizza.

Technically, I'd give this a 4.5/5 for the elevated airport prices, but you're sort of a captive audience and I have to give credit to AUS for at least including local brands, even when they some are tweaked a little bit to be included. (I'm looking at you, 24 Diner's less-anchovy-y airport caesars.) There's not really anything to change about beer, thank goodness. This stand has Austin Beerworks' beer, which is some damn good beer. I wish ABW had a distribution deal in the northeast so I could continue drinking it at my new house. Service at the Beerdrop is usually friendly and just the right amount of attentive--friendly if you're bored, hands-off if you've got a laptop out. One bartender on a slow day even checked on my order at the other food hall counter for me, which was rad. There's a full bar with non-beer options, too, although I've only ever been there for the beer. It can get a little loud and crowded if the wider food hall's busy, but unless you're hitting at peak food o'clock, it's pretty laid-back in there.

I ordered a 14-ounce serving of Fire Eagle IPA (for $11.49)--which is very good. The bartender suggested to instead order the 20-ounce serving for $1.50 more ($0.65 per ounce rather than $0.82). However, I was trying to spare some room in my stomach for a subsequent crawl to Hippies & Hops (featuring local beers from Live Oak Brewing). I lucked out on the timing, to watch an NFL playoff game during my visit here. It was surprising that other patrons at the bar were mostly drinking beers other than the local beers that this bar showcases; or alcoholic beverages other than beer. I like the easygoing atmosphere here, where it is easy to socialize with the bartenders and patrons.

Visited for the first time today... and also for the last time…read more The restaurant was about half full, which should've been our first clue that the kitchen was filming a slow-motion documentary. Our food took 50 minutes to arrive, and even then it came out like divorced parents sharing custody -- one meal arrived first, and the second showed up 30 minutes later looking confused and exhausted. The burger patty was so thin I thought it was a receipt. Somehow it was also burned so badly the cheese looked like it had survived a house fire. The fries had enough salt to preserve a mummy for the next 3,000 years. Then came the fried mushrooms, which appeared to have been flattened by a steamroller and dehydrated under the Texas sun. I'm no chef, but I suspect the cook accidentally left both the burger and mushrooms in since breakfast. We sent the burger back, and 30 minutes later they proudly delivered another burger with all the moisture and personality of a hockey puck. Meanwhile, the club sandwich tasted like Poseidon himself had seasoned it. The Coke machine apparently gave up sometime during the Biden administration because what came out was sparkling sadness with a hint of cola. We spoke with the manager, who generously knocked $5 off the bill -- truly a financial sacrifice on par with the Louisiana Purchase. Honestly, if Gordon Ramsay walked into that kitchen, he'd have thrown himself into the fryer. Our server's entire vocabulary consisted of "I got you," which was ironic because for most of the meal, nobody got us. The couple next to us sat with empty glasses for 20 minutes but were somehow gifted an industrial-sized bowl of limes. Maybe hydration is extra. Would not recommend unless you have several free hours, low blood pressure from lack of salt, and a curiosity about what happens when a kitchen loses the will to live.
