The Anchor Bar is a chain that originated in Buffalo and is definitely worth a visit. They specialize in wings (where they claim the original Anchor Bar invented them), but have a full menu. Service was extremely friendly and efficient. Our server was excellent. I had the wings combo, which was 10 wings and tater tots (with an option for fries). My brother and nephew had the same thing. They have a range of sauces or rubs you can choose. I have a wimpy palette so I had the honey bourbon BBQ. The wings were excellent, crispy skin and moist inside. The sauce was very nice also. The tater tots were great but there are a LOT of them. One person could order for two. Then we were there on Sunday and loved that they had TVs tuned to a few different games. Ambiance: Our server Tristan was excellent, friendly, and attentive. The food came out quickly, and the restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating options. The lighting is on the dimmer side, and there are lots of TVs for entertainment. Drinks: We ordered a Moscow Mule and a Lemon Drop Martini. The Lemon Drop was sweet, refreshing, and smooth without a strong alcohol taste. The Moscow Mule was equally enjoyable, with a crisp ginger beer that added a nice fizz. Pretzel Bites: These were golden, crispy, and delicious. They came with honey mustard and queso, both of which paired perfectly, though the bites were flavorful enough to enjoy on their own. Came here for the first time for my friend's retirement lunch. We were a group of 25 to include kids. We ordered the wings (salt/pepper, cajun, and garlic parm), and the buffalo chicken salad. Garlic parm wings were flavorful, but really saucy and made me feel a little nauseous due too much sauce. The cajun wings were super dry and had to rely on the dipping sauce. The salt/pepper, although so simple, was probably the most flavorful wings that I've eaten here, but they weren't mixed well so some wings were crazy salty lol. My friend's who set this gathering up, didn't make reservations, but I didn't think it was too bad considering it wasn't busy. We started around 130pm and left at 430pm and it wasn't because we had a great time talking, but it was mainly because the service was so slow. We got seated and got our drink orders fast, but the drinks came out forever plus they forgot 2 drinks, took forever to refill our drinks, took forever and ever to take our orders and even longer to get our food and our checks, and crazy long to get our credit cards and the receipt back. We had plans to go to another location after lunch, but this caused a bunch of us having to cancel those plans. I feel they should have a better organized plan for a larger party such as finding out who's together so they know how to charge each person. Finally made it in here since all of CStat says this is where the wings are king! So first they were right the wings are phenomenal and you can for sure tell they are fresh fatty wings, flavors were perfection! Love the option of flavors on fries and the sweet potato waffle fries are sooooo good! Fried pickles were also fantastic I'm just not a ranch girl! We really like Anchor Bar and typically have very good service eating at the bar. But tonight was not one of them. They left a brand new bartender who didn't have a clue but she tried very hard. First time trying Anchor Bar, sat at the bar for a late lunch. The inside is decorated nicely, with plenty TVs! Service was intensely slow though, so that was disappointing. We do understand working the service well and the bar too but there was not really a balance for the bartender between the two... we had the entertainment of watching (what appeared to be) one of the managers rinsing the cold pint glasses, thawing the cold glasses THEN pouring beers lol. Food was adequate, nothing to really rave about. The wings were cooked right and had good flavor for the sauces but average, at best, in size. The jalapeno poppers however are definitely not worth the price... would recommend any other appetizer if there is a better ratio of portion and price. We lucked out and had $2 draft beers while we were there - so that was a plus for the cost of the food... we will likely give it another try but unfortunately it won't be on our general rotation. read more

Real nice experience. I went for a meeting. Didn't even know it was there beforehand. Service was excellent, even with our large group. Having grown up and lived for over 60 years in Western New York, we were really looking forward to a Beef on Weck at the new Anchor Bar in College Station. What a disappointment! The beef was right on, but this was on a lousy replica of a Kimmelweck roll. A Kimmelweck roll dough is brushed with water and lightly sprinkled with caraway seeds and course salt before baking. This was a regular roll basted with butter and smothered with caraway seeds and salt. The roll was greasy with butter and there was so much salt as to be inedible. We had to brush the salt off and, unfortunately, the caraway seeds with it. Surely your bread vendor can make a reasonable Kimmelweck. This one missed the mark. On the other hand, with wings were spot on. Not sure about a return visit. The unique offering in these parts is the Beef on Weck and while this one was unique it was far from authentic. read more
