HAPPY NATIONAL BOBA DAY (4/30)! It only feels right to update my review of my go-to spot in the area. NJ doesn't have many great boba places, which is why I'm EXTREMELY grateful to have Tsaocaa nearby. I'm a regular, and the drinks are consistently amazing. I'm pretty picky--I only like drinks with a strong tea flavor that really pulls through. My biggest pet peeve is when they're too milky, overly sweet, or taste artificial. Tsaocaa absolutely nails it! The tea to milk ratio is ON POINT! One sip in, and I could tell they use high quality, premium tea leaves and fresh fruit ingredients. This is one of the few places that truly gets both milk AND fruit teas right! Over the past two years, I've worked my way through a good portion of the menu. You really can't go wrong with choosing any drink! There are so many options--milk teas, fruit teas, slushes, fruit mojitos (non-alcoholic), yogurt slushes, you name it. It's the perfect mix of classic staples and more creative flavors. My top two favorites are: *Passion Fruit & Lime Tea - Get this if you want something refreshing, tangy, and tropical. I get it with no sugar since the fruit already brings a natural sweetness. And they actually use real passion fruit seeds! *Brown Sugar Black Milk Tea - The black tea is strong and slightly bitter, but the creamy milk balances it out. They don't go overboard with the brown sugar--just enough to give you little sips of sweetness. *King of Milk Oolong Tea - I don't usually go for oolong tea, but this one's starting to win me over. I absolutely LOVE the deep, roasted flavor. I order mine with less ice and either the lowest sugar level or no sugar at all. The baristas hit the mark on the sweetness levels and make it exactly how I want. When you order 30% sugar, you really get 30%. For the true tea lovers, I recommend 30% or none at all if you really want that bold tea taste. The tapioca pearls are addicting--soft, chewy, and not crazy sweet. Their pearls have a natural amber brown color since they're made from sweet potato, without any added syrups or dyes. Most boba elsewhere is made from cassava root and then dyed artificially. Yes, it's on the pricier side--but I am SO willing to pay for the higher quality! They have a rewards program, so if you collect enough points, you can score free drinks! There's a lovely barista who's almost always there--she makes my drinks just right and quickly every time. I do wish there were more seating though. It's a small store with just a table and a few stools at a counter. They do have wifi if you're thinking of getting some work done. This location also has a full menu of popular Vietnamese dishes like pho, lemongrass grilled pork, vermicelli bowls, and banh mi. I've tried the banh mi, and honestly, I'd skip it. Stick to the bubble tea here! Tsaocaa is a must try for all boba lovers! Get your sip on! They even have a 1000mL bucket size! *eyes emoji* I have to limit myself to one drink a month... or I'll end up with a 9-month old boba belly. read more

Oh man, I so wanted these drinks to be a hit. Here is what we ordered in 500ml: - King of Oolong Milk Tea with boba - Sakura Oolong Milk Tea As soon as we saw the drinks we were like oooh no, why is it white? My son insist I taste both of them first. I put on a poker face because I wanted to see his honest reaction too. After he took a couple of sips he said, I don't want to finish it. In the trash it goes. I consider myself a hardcore tea lover. There was nothing Oolong about it. Not sure how the lady made it, if it's from powder or actual tea leaves but we absolutely could not detect any tea flavor, mostly water and sugar and the lingering aftertaste was NOT PLEASANT AT ALL. It was a long drive for us to get here. Do I regret it? No, because I am always willing to venture far for a boba tea experience. Can't win them all. I don't know if the high rating is for the drinks or the Vietnamese food they serve here. Tsaocaa is a chain and I will not be giving this one another chance. The first thing my son and I did when we got home was brush our teeth. Tsaocaa is located at the plaza of ShopRite. Very convenient. They have many options of tea/mix drinks and food. I don't think every location serve hot food but this Englewood one does. Very friendly staff. Drink was quick to come out. Saw couple online order pickup while I was waiting. It's quite popular. Some seating but mostly a takeout place. I got brown sugar bubble tea (less ice and 50% sugar). It's average to me. I wish the bubble texture is more chewy. It's too soft for me. And it's not as strong flavor as other tea stores. Milk tea itself is ok. Not my top 3 choice but not bad either. read more

Their brown sugar bubble tea is pretty good. I have tried others and haven't liked them enough to order them again. My complaints with them are: - They do not add enough tapioca. This is the only place i've ever gotten bubble tea from where the tapioca runs out well before the liquid finishes, so I always have to add on extra tapioca. - Half the drink is ice even when you ask for less ice. If you dont drink fast, it's a watery mess. I've gotten the 1000 ml a few times and every single time its packed with ice. It gets gross if you dont finish the drink before the ice starts melting. - They take FOREVER to make the drinks. If you dont order before hand they take at least 15 mins. I have ordered two drinks only in the past and have had to wait 25 mins for my drinks. The older lady with the kid is pretty quick but the younger lady is consistently SO slow, especially when her friend is there. TLDR: Slow service, too much ice even when you specify less ice, not enough tapioca. read more

Even though the own was preoccupied, he was super nice to make sure all the walk in customers were being taken care of. Location is easy to find since it's just across the parking lot from the Englewood Shop Rite. Store is bright and clean. 2 kiosks add to the ease of ordering, but if you want anything deleted or taken out (customized), you need to get on the line to order in person. My first encounter with Tsaocaa was in Boston, which was delicious. Ordered a fruit drink and was so happy it did not disappoint. Ouch. We've tried their tea at a different location on the NY side and thought the service was better than their tea or boba at the time, so came here hoping for a better experience. Instead, their jasmine green tea was so impossibly bitter that I apparently needed "full" sugar level and even that didn't cover up the bitterness. They have white (or clear) boba and, while it had an acceptable sweetness to it, it may either have been sitting for too long or cooked for longer than it should have, so it didn't have the fullness I expect. The staff was reasonably friendly and accommodating, but it was ultimately the tea and boba that turned me off and left me disappointed. Their king of oolong was surprisingly smooth though, so lack of consistency may be an issue here. I hope they continue improving to serve great foods and beverages. For myself, this place won't be at the top of the list for the next boba tea occasion. read more

I visited during the grand opening special and ordered a bubble tea and a taro bubble tea! I think both tasted good, nothing special, but I did like the chewy texture of the boba! I also thought the staff were very welcoming and nice! They gave me a boba plushy keychain and a donut as part of their promotion! The space is a bit small inside but has a few stools to sit! We found this place after parking in the parking lot of ShopRite. We decided to give them a try after doing the groceries. It's a small space with no menu in sight. Forces you to look through the kiosk which I find annoying. Anywho.. Boo decided to get an ORIGINAL korean hot dog, Two employees asked him several times if he wanted any sauce and all times he said he didn't want any. I ordered the Coconut Lychee slush. My slush was delicious with tons of jelly in every sip. His hot dog ended up having cheese in it. He was so upset because he was really craving for one and didn't want cheese in it. I have come to this place since the store opened. I always get the Double Purple Bliss as it comes with purple rice, bubbles, and ube swirled in the cup. However, when I came again, the menu ordering was not clear and I asked for extra ube. After I got the drink, the ube was slim to none and there were no purple rice or bubbles as according to the employee, the purple rice and bubbles are add-ons rather than included. Hands down my favorite bubble tea place, maybe of all I've been to. Recommend the Lemon Tea Series with some popping bubbles. Creme Brûlée mochinut is also the best mochi donut I've ever had (like, from any place, ever.) With so many choices, How do you choose? I'll tell you how, just ask the staff. They are very helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I ended up getting the taro milk tea. The real taro, not the powder which is what I usually would get. I got it with the lychee popping Boba. It was deliciously refreshing. The place was extremely clean inside. The donuts looked really tempting, but I behaved myself. I will definitely be frequenting this place. (This was my original Google review) I have since been back several times.
