Awesome Chinese Eats - Totally Worth It! If you're craving seriously good Chinese food, Tsing Tao is the place to be. The flavors? Spot on. The vibe? Cozy but lively. You can tell they put real care into every dish.

Remember in the golden days before GrubHub and DoorDash when you had a kitchen drawer devoted to your food delivery menus? The Chinese menu was usually the folded pink one with the grease stains. That's where the Tsing Tao menu is in my mind because you can get the classics delivered from here, and Jamie W. and I were in such a mood one recent rainy evening. We started off with the $10.95 Large Hot & Sour Soup which we think they prepare pretty darn well with just the right amount of spice and bamboo shoots to satisfy (photo: https://bit.ly/43u75xW). We thought the $8.50 Chicken Salad was the right complement as it was simply made, a hefty pile of deep-fried chicken bites over iceberg lettuce accompanied by what tasted like 1,000-island dressing (photo: https://bit.ly/41rp1Yd). Our main dish was the $13.95 carb-heavy Chicken Chow Fun, a throwback comfort dish from the days when calories didn't seem to matter. Good though a bit heavy on the brown sauce (photo: https://bit.ly/3GEaUXz). The highlight turned out to be the $11.95 Dry Braised String Beans which had enough snap and chili spice to make it a filling entree on its own (photo: https://bit.ly/405lQUG). A retro vintage dinner for two. FOOD - 4 stars...old school Chinese takeout that works AMBIANCE - n/a...it was a delivery but I've passed by it on San Pablo near the freeway entrance SERVICE - 3.5 stars...decently packed TOTAL - 4 stars...where's that pink menu? Oh my God yes I don't know why it took so long I finally found a Chinese restaurant with good food, cheap prices, and big portions lunch special! ! ! Just last week, I was telling ma BAE, "OMGGGG I misssss the places me and my coworkers used to eat lunch at in Monterey. It was all greasy, and they gave us a big ol' plate of food with like a entree and a side, and it came with soup, and it was tons of food for lunch and I always took leftovers for dinner and it was like super cheap tooooo... " And she was like, "Wha-?" Then I was driving by and we were stopped at the red light and I looked over and I saw the sign: Deli 510-215-1283 / Very Lunch Special $7.95 w rice & soup !!!!!!! So today I looked online and saw they have my favorite Sweet & Sour Pork. So I called and I ordered the Sweet & Sour Porkkkkkk. And they said 10 MINUTES! haha That's super fast! So I went down there and I paid super cheap so I added a tip even though it was for pick-up. And I brought it home and I looked in the bag and I laughed, and I brought it to ma BAE laughing the whole way to show her how big the portions are--and it even came with soup!!! And I ate it to my heart's content and I even had leftovers for dinner, or for lunch again tomorrow! Thank You, Chinese Food Jesus. If you choose to give a thumbs-up or not, I hope you found my review helpful!

For someone who doesn't like Chinese food. I would go here again. The food wasn't gross, but it wasn't amazing. The food wasn't greasey. It tasted good. The owner was nice she stayed open for us. The was nice and friendly. She also got everyone's order right. There were 5 different orders, and they were all different food. Some people ordered more than others. The ambiance was good they had a large dining room with a large TV.

This was no vegetables for my so

After the last review it's been months since I got a wrong order. I really appreciate them fixing it but be warned if you re order something that had special instructions it will say it but you won't get it. So scroll down and order again do not just pick the easy re order box

Look this place has 3 1/2 stars and maybe it's because you can go to a place across from San Pablo casino and get a big plate for cheap Or panda express or a newer looking building with Chinese food, But this place for sure deserves more than three stars. You know everyone has different taste buds and I've tried different Chinese places here in Richmond and surrounding cities and so far this one is the, "only one," I have returned too. They are very good and flavorful. I have not dined in so I can't read the service but I do know over the phone. They understand me, I understand them and they get the order right every time so that reason service is good. Also, you get free chow mein or free fried rice or spring rolls if your order is over 50. So we got the chow mein. I can't describe the ambience because I've never eaten inside but outside it looks like a hole in the wall and very old building so maybe people judge it. But I would say if you ever passing by the, "RICH," go right there if you're looking for some good Chinese food. tummy fully loaded!

The food is absolutely inedible. Salty and tasted old maybe even rancid. The service was great which lead me to think the food would be OKAY at worst. I wouldn't go back if they payed me.

Mongolian Beef and orange chicken (more like brown chicken)
    Tmoney N.

Very salty Mongolian beef. Very little beef and a lot of onion. First time ordering this dish and will also be the last! The other dish was orange chicken. As you can see, this looks more like overcooked brown chicken than orange chicken. The presentation is bad but worse is the taste and food quality. The chicken is heavily covered with powder and very little chicken is on the inside. Will have to pass on this dish too! It's unfortunate that Panda Express has better quality food!

Vegetable and fried bean curd lunch special

If you're craving a lot of food for low price, then Tsing Tao is the place for you. For example, the lunch special can be easily made into 2 or even 3 meals depending on how big your appetite is. I had order the garlic broccoli, vegetable chow mein, and fried bean curd with vegetables (lunch special). All dishes tasted ok, nothing too special. The vegetables were not overcooked and still had a good crunch. The restaurant is right off the freeway and has plenty of street parking out front.

Pics of 2 of their crap puff, no crab to be found and for the price can't help but feel ripped off

I haven't been able to get through to them for several days.Does anyone know why?Are they on vacation or is something wrong? No answer and their mailbox is full

They always answer the phone. Have you checked the number that you have? I always order pick-up.

Do they have lunch on weekends also? Do they deliver all day if you order $15 or more and pay the $2? Or just at night?

Since the corona virus and the shelter in place order,is Tsing Tao still open for take out and delivery?

Yes. Takeout. Not sure about delivery. Just call and ask

Enter China Delights. This was our first time here and while it wasn't my beloved whole rock cod, their fried whole flounder with a soy based sauce was good enough to stand in its place. The fish was fried crispy enough that you could eat the fins while the flesh remained tender and moist. The sauce wasn't too bad either. I enjoyed that fish so much that I probably could have eaten the entire thing by myself without an ounce of shame. And then our waitress gave me the information I needed to hear: if I want whole rock cod, call the day before to let them know we're coming and they'll have it ready. HUGE WIN! You don't have to tell me twice. Another thing I was happy to see was a variety of mu shu options on the menu. We went with the pork and were not disappointed. And bc my husband had his own craving that needed to be handled, we ordered the half roasted duck. And that wasn't too bad either. The staff tonight were warm and attentive. Not once did we feel unattended to, but we also never felt rushed. Sometimes that balance gets lost and they did it well tonight. So is it possible that we may have stumbled onto the promise of a new family go to spot? Possibly. They've apparently been open for over 20 years already, and I hope they stay open for another 20 bc finding an old-school Chinese restaurant that still serves some of these classic dishes is getting harder and harder. Now I just need to remember to call the day before bc that whole rock cod and I have some unfinished business.

I love that the restaurant is spacious and that there's an essence of coziness to the space. The service here is decent -- there have been multiple times where my party has had to ask for things because food or drinks were coming out too slow or were forgotten. There's definitely room for improvement in that arena. Food is delicious here, and I particularly love the sweet and sour pork! House fried rice and beef broccoli here is also amazing. Although I've had better honey walnut prawns, the ones here are still good (just pricey considering I prefer other places over it). Portion sizes are huge, even for sharing among 3-4 people. I recommend eating here with a fairly large group - you get your best deal when sharing the cost (and eating) together.

It was near 5pm, and the dining room was empty. They said most of the orders were for takeout and delivery. So I was seated right away, and they offered me hot tea. So I ordered the Hung Tao Yee Won Ton Soup, and also "Salt 'n Pepper Prawns" as listed under House Specialties on their menu. For $15.95, it's a huge bowl of soup. It could be enough for 2-3 people. Hung Tao Yee Won Ton Soup is fried won ton in thicken egg drop soup. I added pepper and a splash of soy sauce, and it was perfect. Grade (4/5). However, the Salt 'n Pepper Prawns were not perfect. They were served deep fried, with jalapeño pepper slices. I asked for "in-shell." So they were deep fried with the shell still on. That usually means they'll have more flavor. These prawns were mushy and had a slightly fishy aftertaste. This suggests that they were frozen and not fresh. China House didn't season them enough to mask the off-taste. Other restaurants add a coarse salt and maybe a dipping sauce. The batter coating tasted fine, but the prawn itself wasn't good. Grade (2/5). Service was prompt and attentive.
