Good thing: Fast service Bad things: Peking Spare rib smell old and the meat was tough. I felt sick (the feeling of food poisoning) and vomited after eating this dish. For Walnut shrimp, instead of shrimps, they covered each small shrimps in a thick (very thick) batter to fill up the portion. This is worse than Chinese fast food and American fast food. Worst than McDonalds. At least I don't get food poisoning after eating McDonald. Never come back again! read more

Finally had the chance to order takeout from Silver Ocean restaurant, and we ordered it on Christmas day. Ordered a couple of items: vegetable fried rice, ma po tofu, eggplant, and green beans. Food was ready within 10 mins. The food was decent especially for the price. You can't beat that price for food in the bay area. The flavors were good but not the strong Chinese flavors that I was expecting. Overall, it was ok but nothing too spectacular. This restaurant has been here forever. It's our local reliably good OG Chinese food. This place is the kind of place our parents took us to back in the day in Chinatown. Veggies were cooked perfectly and were very fresh. Lots of nice sized shrimp in our shrimp with mixed vegetables. We also ordered chicken chow fun. It was amazing! It really hit the spot. I usually buy several items from silver ocean but I was doing laundry and just wanted a snack so I ordered the salt and pepper chicken I've got it several times before it was awful the pieces were smaller and I don't know what part of the chicken they used but it was really dry the flavor was good but I really didn't enjoy it will not be getting this again read more

I have ordered takeout before from Silver Ocean and have always had timely, delicious hot food. However this past week was an exception. On one Monday, I ordered my usual, Sweet and Sour Shrimp. This time I didn't want to have my accompanied Chow Mein, but decided to try their Singapore Noodles which I have never had in my life. It was SO GOOD! On Thursday I was already wanting to reorder just the Singapore noodles. I ordered two servings. I'm not sure if a different chef was on that day (around 1:00 PM) or what had happened, but both noodles were completely dried out and covered with curry powder. They tasted and looked like they were old and just thrown in the microwave. They came from restaurant to my house in 15 minutes, which tells me they were not made fresh. It's sad because consistency in restaurant food these days is a must and at $14 per order of noodles plus all the "nickel and dime" fees and tip, it's a hefty sum to have sub-par delivery food. I won't order here again due to consistency issues. Do better, or don't do at all. read more

This place is 5 stars, as always. Wanted to get some good takeout during SIP 2.0 They do a really good job on the Hong Kong style chow mein, which is chock-full of different kinds of meat, shrimp, and vegetables on a bed of crispy pan fried noodles which stayed crispy on the ride home! We also got the garlic eggplant which was so flavorful and the tofu beef which was delicious with a rich gravy over soft tofu and tender beef. The service here is always great! They are bright, friendly, fast and efficient. I asked them to hold the salt on my food and they did. This is a small family business which is so deserving of support during shelter in place. Please patronize them, their food is so good, authentic, and the service is superb. I hear that their sushi is fantastic, hubby will probably try that next time. Will definitely be back! read more

We did an order of mapo tofu, veggie fried rice , and crab puffs. It was actually very good especially it was a great price too. We picked up the food and it was a nice clean restaurant and the staff was pleasant. Looked at their menu and they seem to have amazing lunch deals so this is going to become one of our go to spots for great Chinese takeout. Awesome veggie selection with authentic Chinese flavors. ** The following review reflects my takeout experience DURING the shelter-in-place order currently in effect. ** Oh dear, I've broken my self-imposed rule of avoiding hybrid restaurants whose cuisines are not all that compatible. There are Mexican-Italian restaurants and Franco-Moroccan restaurants, but Chinese-Japanese restaurants conjure up a level of historical animosity that don't necessarily reconcile themselves on a plate. Besides, what does sushi have to do with kung pao chicken? As it turns out, not much though I think they do a pretty good job on the Japanese side all things considered. I decided to break my rule over the fact that it was the rare non-Japanese-owned restaurant that offered a $12.99 Naruto Roll, the rice-less cucumber roll filled with salmon, maguro, hamachi, and avocado. This one they did quite well as the fresh fish was abundant and the portion quite generous (photo: https://bit.ly/2Win404). The $13.95 Yellowtail Lover Roll was another winner with chopped spicy hamachi and avocado wrapped in slabs of fresh hamachi and green onions (photo: https://bit.ly/2z0soxk). I wish I would have read the health test scores first. We were greeted to sit with a party of 6. The food came out pretty fast despite we were the only family in there. The combo rice ingredients tasted old, the Mongolian beef tasted spoiled/old-we did not finish that plate, the broccoli beef was ok, the chow mein was ok. All the meats had a similar taste or maybe the refrigerator wasn't working. The sushi was ok. I definitely do not recommend this place in anyway. I will not be returning. read more

Overpriced for the quality and quantity of the portions. Service was beyond bad, this girl was so rude, didn't even wanted to talk to me directly only to my husband. She forgot my water when she brought both of our sodas and I tried to get her attention but she just flat straight ignored me I had to raise my voice for her to even acknowledge that I was there. After dropping off the food I had to get up and get the soy sauce and chilly sauce for myself, she saw me doing it and didn't flinch. In full honesty this place was so sad to be empty on a Saturday night. I love this place. Great sushi and so consistent with quality and presentation! The Chinese food takes a backseat for me, but I haven't been disappointed when I do try it. Service is always quick, selection is extensive and customer service is excellent. Every time I order whether over the phone or on Yelp, there are never any hiccups with my food. HIGHLY recommend! So I had a craving for poke salad and in my area there aren't any options at all but I saw that Silver Ocean had a poke roll - must try! Especially with the warmer weather that's now approaching, it really hit the spot! But this review is for the American Dream Roll - I never thought you could wrap this all up with such delight!! I've never had such an AMAZING roll before!! And look at the photos, the sushi roll is HUGE compared to make other sushi places that I've been to. Decent and affordable Chinese food within reach! The restaurant is conveniently located in a plaza, so finding parking isn't a huge issue. The space is open and laid out like many other mom and pop restaurants, and can accommodate for parties both big and small. The last time I came here, my sister and I had dinner and had General Tso's chicken and beef fried rice. The chicken was a bit too soft but overall saucy and tasty. The fried rice did the job well. We ordered our food to go (grub hub) the food was ready way earlier than the timing showed on yelp. The food was delicious especially the shrimp. Fresh, big and meaty. I didn't care for the pot stickers. They were huge pot stickers but there was little meat and the pot stickers tasted a little watery. The staff had great customer service. read more

I was very impressed with silver ocean and also even to grub hub. Their prices for delivery are much cheaper than DoorDash. We ordered salmon and tuna sashimi, a dragon roll and a side order of chicken fried rice. The basic fried rice honestly was super tasty. The dragon roll was amazing and the freshness from sashimi was great. Good cuts and good size cuts. I will have to dine in next time but this place is great. read more

I'm sorry to have to give such a bad review, but folks need to know. I got this sudden giant craving for sushi - haven't had any since Shelter, so out of desperation I decided to try this place since it's closest to where I live. I wasn't expecting super special, but it would have been so cool if it was even just decent and convenient. I'm not a big roll person, like to taste the fish. So I got 3 orders of nigiri: tuna, hamachi and unagi. Both fish were of poor quality. The hamachi was especially gross since it was cut with the grain rather than across which made it stringy, plus it was absolutely drenched in lemon juice. The rice was also poor quality, broken grains and just not properly made with way too much sugar. The unagi was OK, just a bit much seaweed taste, but by then I was too done to be open minded. I only ate one of each pair and was too grossed out to continue. The portions were very generous, but it would be preferable to have less and of better quality. This level of fish might seem to get by in a big giant deep fried roll with a ton of other stuff (again, not my thing) but it absolutely does not stand on it's own. To top it off, I ordered in person and stepped out for awhile. When I came back I noticed the mask had slipped under the cook's nose. Not cool! I almost returned the order, but I was tired and hungry, so I just took it and walked out. I'm at least the second person to comment on this, I now find. At least now I know and no longer have to wonder about this place anymore. I know it's unlikely, but if I have to get covid from sushi, I wish it had been better sushi! I've only had their Chinese food once when they first opened and wasn't impressed, but that was a long time ago, so I can't comment. I have to say I'm surprised they've received so many positive reviews. Update: I did not get covid. Still not going back. read more

Went today for a late lunch, food was good and at great price point. I got their lunch plate and was very satisfied with with everything I chose, it came with hot and sour soup which was very good, salad, pot stickers, California roll, steamed rice and the main chicken w/vegetables!! service was very attentive and friendly.
