I have been having some major deep fried whole rock cod with sweet and sour sauce withdrawals. Since our longtime family Chinese restaurant closed its doors after being open since basically forever, I have yet to find another place that comes remotely close to filling that void. Enter China Delights. This was our first time here and while it wasn't my beloved whole rock cod, their fried whole flounder with a soy based sauce was good enough to stand in its place. The fish was fried crispy enough that you could eat the fins while the flesh remained tender and moist. The sauce wasn't too bad either. I enjoyed that fish so much that I probably could have eaten the entire thing by myself without an ounce of shame. And then our waitress gave me the information I needed to hear: if I want whole rock cod, call the day before to let them know we're coming and they'll have it ready. HUGE WIN! You don't have to tell me twice. Another thing I was happy to see was a variety of mu shu options on the menu. We went with the pork and were not disappointed. And bc my husband had his own craving that needed to be handled, we ordered the half roasted duck. And that wasn't too bad either. The staff tonight were warm and attentive. Not once did we feel unattended to, but we also never felt rushed. Sometimes that balance gets lost and they did it well tonight. So is it possible that we may have stumbled onto the promise of a new family go to spot? Possibly. They've apparently been open for over 20 years already, and I hope they stay open for another 20 bc finding an old-school Chinese restaurant that still serves some of these classic dishes is getting harder and harder. This is a really good sit-down Chinese restaurant that's reminiscent of the ones my family would reserve for big milestones such as wedding receptions, baptisms, and birthdays. I love that the restaurant is spacious and that there's an essence of coziness to the space. The service here is decent -- there have been multiple times where my party has had to ask for things because food or drinks were coming out too slow or were forgotten. There's definitely room for improvement in that arena. Food is delicious here, and I particularly love the sweet and sour pork! House fried rice and beef broccoli here is also amazing. Although I've had better honey walnut prawns, the ones here are still good (just pricey considering I prefer other places over it). Portion sizes are huge, even for sharing among 3-4 people. I recommend eating here with a fairly large group - you get your best deal when sharing the cost (and eating) together. read more

As others have said, it's in a mall that has only 2 other businesses still open. But this place has endured and always yummy. If you're in the mood for basic, good Chinese food, this is the spot. Especially good is the sizzling rice soup... if you eat it there, the rice has a very nice sizzle. You lose a bit when doing take out but the soup is still very tasty. China Delights in Pinole is still open and still offering it's extensive menu of favorite Chinese dishes. However, the plaza it's in, Appian 80 Shopping Center is shutdown. I was there at 7pm on a Tuesday night. The entire shopping plaza was dark and unwelcoming. If it wasn't for the bright lights of the restaurant, I would of turned around and left. I came to China Delights to try their Hung Tao Wor Yee Won Ton Soup. It's a soup you seldom see in Chinese restaurants anymore. China Delights is a large spacious restaurant. Lots of round tables for groups. It could probably handle a Chinese banquet. So I ordered the won ton soup and an order of fried chicken wings. My big bowl of soup arrives, and it has chunks of imitation crab in it. Look, I understand everyone has their own recipe, but I don't want pieces of processed seafood in my won ton soup. Also, this isn't wor won ton soup, because there's nothing else added to it. It was just fried won tons, egg drop soup, and the "fake crab" meat. It doesn't alter the flavor of the soup. It was actually good soup, but I didn't like the fake crab meat. Grade (3/5). The fried chicken wings were super crispy and delicious! (5/5). Service was okay. The older lady who served me came over and chatted about the restaurant. Seems they also own Peking Delights in San Ramon. She told me her customers like won ton soup with imitation crab meat in it. The food here is good and portions are generous. While I know times are tough it's always weird to me that they don't throw a couple of fortune cookies or soy sauce in the bag not matter the size of the order. The deal breaker for me was when I ordered egg rolls and there was no sauce or mustard to go with it. Who eats egg rolls just naked like that?! Bummer. read more

15 of us Came here for a late lunch. Food was surprising good and hot with lots of gravy. Gals sat at one table. Guys on another. This is what the gals Ordered. We had the salty fish pork hash, tomato beef crispy noodles, Peking spare ribs, eggplant with pork, beef stew clay pot. Everything was really good. The people we came with live 10 minutes away so they know what to order. Sorry no photos. And the complimentary tofu soup was hearty and very tasty. This place is in a closed down strip outdoor mall. I dine inside China Delights a week after Hunan Villa closed their door down. I wasn't disappointed when I dine inside China Delights. I had Chicken with Mixed Vegetables with Fried Rice. I love the proportion of my plate. I love how the food was presented on the plate. The taste of the Chicken was good. Plenty of vegetables and I ate it. I was check by my server to be sure that I was doing great. I love how my service was at China Delights. I would be sad if China Delights closed their door. Hello came in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was pretty empty when we came in. What we didn't realize was that they were closing in 35 minutes. They still went ahead and took our order for a family meal for 5. The server was very nice. The food was delicious. All the dishes were good. For all that's been coming here for at least 12 -15yrs It's one of my favorites for Good Chinese Food. The waitress there has been there for over 12yrs she's been giving everyone great service. They offer a lot of authentic Chinese food and all of the items on their menu are good and generous in serving. I've been to this place several times and I finally was able to write a review. They have several tables and chairs for both small and big groups. The service was fast and the orders got to your table quickly. They serve lunch plates for individuals or ala carte for a big gathering We ordered the sizzling rice plate, crispy chicken wings, salt and pepper pork chop, and sauteed spinach on garlic sauce. I'm just writing about this place now but been a regular customer for the last 20 years. This is my wife and my favorite neighborhood restaurant. the food is delicious and portions are generous. We usually order off the fix price menu which offers a choice of of one of three different soups, plus a choice of three different dishes off a list of various dishes from sea food, beef, pork, chicken and vegetables. Tucked in a shopping center next to the Pinole Safeway, this Chinese restaurant is a decent find! I had a large group order a variety of dishes, and our favorites were the egg flower soup (came with lots of veggies), and the chicken chow fun and chicken with black bean sauce that came with generous portions. Salt and pepper pork chop was okay but I was looking for more garlic and peppers to complement the pork that was a little overcooked. House fried rice was pretty good but needed more meat and seafood. I appreciated our waiter patiently taking our order and suggesting some great dishes like their Mongolian fish fillet that was a perfect lend of savory and spices. I'm not sure what happen I always call to order for pick up here since 2014. But this time i place an order one hour before to pick up but when i arrive my order is not ready . When I read my prior review I realized how much we enjoyed the food. I was surprised that it appeared that we never went back. I had lunch here recently. I ordered the sliced duck in a spicy garlic sauce. It came with fried rice and hot and sour soup. I liked the duck, although it sorta tasted like beef. I had leftovers. When I took them home and examined the food, something I would never do sitting at a table with 10 women, it was indeed duck. Both the soup and fried rice were excellent. The food came to the table quickly. My to-go order took forever. The prices are higher than the other Chinese restaurants I have lunch at. Despite the higher prices, I will no doubt be back. This is a solid spot to get authentic Chinese! A little hole-in-the wall in the Safeway shopping plaza. My order is always, the honey walnut shrimp (appetizer) then for the family if you want soup: get the wor wonton soup, House chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, mongolian beef and house fried rice and hot & sour prawns Szechuan style. Sounds like a lot but those items on the menu are absolutely delicious. I was in recovery mode and my friend generously got me takeout from here. The two egg flower soups she gave were chock full of veggies, tofu, eggs, ground pork and the salt and pepper tofu was crispy, flavorful and delicious. They were packaged well in bags in a box to avoid spillage. I would definitely recommend their comforting soups- they are delicious, flavorful and filling! This restaurant has been standing it's ground since I was 10 years old. I can't believe how far they have gone. I am happy their food has not disappointed me. They are the only business in this dead plaza. Bank of America, little Caesar's, O'Reilly and other businesses have left. But then they are the best Chinese food I can say. We ordered Beef With Green Pepper with Special Sauce, Prawns with String Beans, and Salt and Pepper Rock Cod Fillet. They were all delicious, tasty and too much! Lol...We ended up taking the rest to-go. Three of the best things about China Delights are the portions, flavors and prices: The serving are consistently generous. They are perfect for parties or feeding a large family clan. Portions are good and so is the taste. So far, anything that I've ever ordered tasted good to great! Try out any of their fried rice or Hong Kong style chow mein or Honey Walnut Prawns or Salt n pepper Tofu or Fish! All are delicious! And lastly, the price.
