We have good friends that really like this place, and often choose it as a place to meet up at. While the food has never been more than "okay", last night was a breaking point for me. We ordered the chow mein and while biting into the shrimp, I could instantly tell that it was fresh weeks ago... the texture was non existent as it disintegrated into my mouth. I stopped eating it and kept on with the rest of the meal. I have strong stomach, and I've eaten my share of "probably better not" foods for the sake of not letting it go to waste.... We ordered catering from Dragon Terrace for a family gathering to celebrate Mother's Day, and selected several delectable items. We got an order of chow mein, shrimp fried rice, mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, egg plant with fried tofu & string beans... and they threw in a tray of red bean sesame balls for free for paying cash. Dragon Terrace still makes a pretty good Egg Foo Yung. I like to order the one with shrimp. I also ordered the cashew Chicken dish off the lunch menu and an extra fried rice. The egg dish was the best. The fried rice was okay. My go-to lunch special spot! I've tried other Chinese lunch specials and Dragon Terrace always comes out to be the best one yet! They get busy during lunch hour, but understandably so. You get soup, wonton chips, and a choice of chow mein, white rice, fried rice, or combo for an extra charge. The food comes out promptly and the portions are piled on the plate! This is our first time trying this place. I love the menu offering. Very solid Cantonese restaurant at a very reasonable price. The lady that took our order was pleasant and the dishes came out very quick. We ordered the dray beef chow fun, fish fillet with vegetables and string beans and chicken. All were great and good portion size. Often, Chinese dishes can be too salty but this was fine. This will be my go to place when I'm up in this area again. I want to try their lunch combinations. Hidden Gem in Hercules! Beautiful historic town and found a great restaurant. We went on Saturday night, and they are many ppl inside. My favorite is the salted fish chicken fried rice and stir fried pea shoots. It has a very authentic taishan flavor. Highly recommend the salt and pepper fish and tsingtao beer. I haven't been to this restaurant for more than 10 years. Today I gave them a try and got their fried tofu, green beans and eggplant dish which is a new item for 13.95. The vegetables were drowning in too much sour sauce. The sauce was unpleasant and there was way too much of it. I may come back and try another dish but this was a very bad dish and I do not recommend it. The staff is very nice and the restaurant looks clean so I had high hopes. I've been going to Dragon Terrace for at least 13 years. It's truly a Hercules staple! It's a 5/5 because they are the best in every aspect. 1. Honestly my favorite Chinese food ever. 2. The owners and the staff are kind and welcoming. Not to mention, have extremely fast service. The last time I went, the soup was ready within 5 minutes. Then the entrees and sides arrived while my party of 3 was still eating our soup. 3. The establishment is very clean, from the silverware, to the tables, to the floor. Solid option for Lunch in the area. The Lunch Special is a great deal, it comes with a cup of the Soup of the Day and Fried Won Ton appetizer. Today I had Chow Mein and Fried Flounder with General Sauce. The fish came out fresh out of the fryer with that General Sauce coating it. The sauce was good but the fish itself could have used a little seasoning. Chow Mein was better than standard. Dragon Terrace is my go to Chinese restaurant in the east bay area. Not only do they have authenric Cantonese food they make some great homestyle dishes from Hoisan, my home village. I can walk there from my house, giving me a chance to do a little but of exercise. The folks are friendly and took time to chat it up with my auntie about the old country! Dragon Terrace serves 2 dishes made with salted fish. These dishes are not easy to find at restaurants, not even in the bay area where so many Cantonese folks live. They were delicious; made like the way my mom used to make. Dragon Terrace also makes a decent beef noodle wonton. They use thin noodles, the way I like wonton soup to be made. The broth is flavorful, the beef could be a tad more tender and less marinated and the wontons would be perfect with a little more shrimp. Overall a great place for a meal. Next time? It's the Lunar New Year and Chinese families always try to gather and share a meal. The craziness of overbooked restaurants and overwhelmed staff taught us many years ago that it was much more relaxing to celebrate a week ahead of time and avoid the crowds. Whenever we can, we'll get together the week before. I wanted some place somewhat out of the way, with good food and easy parking. I had seen Dragon Terrace years before and had filed them in the back of my mind. When asked to choose a restaurant this year, I checked with Yelp and saw that they had been able to maintain a decent score. The menu looked okay with the exception of not offering live crab or lobster. At least they had live fish. Serving a whole fish at the table represents the end of the old year and the beginning of the new year. Chinese people have a lot of superstitions and traditions. We arrived just past 5pm. The restaurant was already busy with guests. We were lucky to get one of the two remaining large tables for our group of six. The first thing I asked was what kind of live fish they had, and of course, they didn't have any. That wasn't the best start, but we'd get over it. Seafood Won Ton Soup (Large) - 4 - It was indeed a large bowl of soup with an assortment of seafood and plenty of wonton to go around. Peking Roast Duck - 3 - The duck was fine, but it was not a true Peking Duck. The skin wasn't super crispy, and the meat had not been sliced off of the bone at the table. The serving style was more reminiscent of Roast Duck served with buns. Not terrible, just not what we were looking for. Fried Pork Stuffed Eggplant - 4 - Fresh, firm and flavorful. House Special Pan-Fried Noodles - 5 - Crispy noodles loaded with proteins, veg and gravy. Yum! Salted Fish Steamed Pork Pattie - 4 - Almost as good as grandma used to make. My dad took a large portion, so that's a good thing. The only thing missing was water chestnuts and chopped dried shiitake mushrooms. Rock Cod and Bean Curd Clay Pot - 5 - Possibly my favorite dish of the night. What can I say? I was looking forward to some fish. Glazed Walnut Prawns - 4 - Nice fat bouncy prawns, crispy sweet with walnuts. Beef with Green Beans - 4 - We actually tried to order Beef with Asparagus but unfortunately, they didn't have any. The greens beans were good. All in all, a pretty good meal. We would certainly return for future meals. The convenience of the parking lot combined with the variety of the menu makes it a winner. The lack of live fish, while disappointing, is becoming more common post-COVID. It's a shame that they didn't have live crab since we're right in the middle of crab season right now. This review is for takeout only and for Tomato Beef Chow Mein and Beef Chow Fun only. This restaurant has been here for many years and we used to come here a lot a long time ago when we lived closer. I was here a few days ago in the shopping center and decided to try this restaurant again for takeout. I really wanted to like this place as I have liked it very much in the past, but was disappointed with their tomato beef chow mein and beef chow fun. Both the chow mein noodles and the chow noodles were starchy and sticky as if they did not rinse the extra starch off the noodles after they cooked them. They were just OK quality, but I've had better. I was disappointed in the beef in both dishes, the beef was tough and stringy. I give two stars for the chow mein and chow fun, but gave them the benefit of the doubt with three stars because the owners were very nice, I haven't tried the other dishes so it wouldn't be fair for me to judge them on only two takeout dishes. Horrible service and so rude I came in when it wasn't busy asking for chopsticks for my order and the lady just yells at me asking what my order was and did not let me speak. When I would talk again she would ignore and go back in the kitchen and I waited patiently but she came back hostile towards me and she told me to leave and go next door. All of this aggressive energy towards me because the cheap employee did not want to give me the paying customer chopsticks for food that I paid for. Refer to the attached menu for all the dishes received. This has to be hands down the best value around. Not only was I full but had plenty to take back home to enjoy. I am disappointed because I was expecting to eat Chinese food here. The food here looks Chinese but doesn't taste Chinese. I would give the food a 3 star overall, but as Chinese food only a 2 star. There are multiple dishes where the dish name is deceiving. There was a dish called eggplant, fried tofu, and string beans which they called 素三鲜 (literal translation is "3 veggies"). When I went with my Chinese family and ordered in Chinese, there was no eggplant, no fried tofu, and no string beans in what came out. I was seriously like wtf, but didn't want to be rude and so just ate it without complaint. But when I went with my American coworker and she ordered this same dish, in English, they gave her exactly those 3 veggies. Again, what's with this inconsistency? Either fix your translation or give me the same dish whether I order in English or Chinese. I ordered the 滑蛋牛肉, which traditionally should be a very lightly scrambled egg (almost soupy and raw-like texture egg) with beef pieces. But I was disappointed again because it was exactly what it said in English: Scrambled egg with beef. The egg was scrambled hard and way over cooked, and didn't taste Chinese at all. I've also tried walnut shrimp, shrimp chow mein, and beef stew. Nothing impressed me. Typically, Chinese beef stews are made with beef brisket, fatty and chewy meat, and it's not supposed to be so lean. What we got was lean beef cooked in a stew, again not authentic Chinese. Everything dwas Americanized. Restaurant is clean and service is okay. Bathroom was clean. If you want a quick meal, this place is fast. But if I'm craving Chinese restaurant food I rather drive a little and go to King Valley in Pinole. read more

A mixed bag on our first visit. The appetizers were all good starting with the egg rolls which are crisp and light and filled with the stars cabbage mix. Second up were the fried wonton skins which were fried nicely and came with sweet and sour sauce and our group of 6 ordered potstickers too which were average and came with a decent dipping sauce which when mixed in with their hot sauce which actually is more like sambal was ended up being tasty. On to the entrees. The Kung pao tofu dish had a bit of a different flavor than most other places and not necessarily in a good way. We hadn't really seen a Walnut chicken dish before so we ordered that and was hoping for it to be better. Same goes for the sizzling beef plate. Not knocking the quality of these dishes but the flavors were just not what we're used to. The star of the evening though was the dry braised string beans! This dish proved to be the most in line with what we expected but somehow was even better. I have cravings for them now! The service was super friendly and well coordinated and the prices are typical. The large round tables with the lazy Susan's let you know that you're in for a feast and make it sort of fun too! We ordered the sesame balls too but as always the free fortune cookies closed out our meal and added to our fun evening. 30 years I've been coming here. Started out as a little girl in the high chair, moved to the booster seat, and then just the regular chair. A little Hercules hole in the wall! Watching the renovations through the years amazes me. But the only thing I am missing is the giant fish tank . Dragon Terrace is a place that my family and I have been going to for 2 decades (I honestly can't believe it's been that long!) We love the owners and they're always so nice and welcoming. This restaurant is definitely a Hercules staple. This restaurant is located in the Creekside Shopping Center with 20 minute parking available right in front of the restaurant, but finding parking is never an issue because the shopping center has a huge parking lot. Currently, they offer indoor dining and have a sign for patrons to show proof of vaccination in order to dine in. Weekdays are fairly busy after 5:00pm as plenty of people are ordering take out and the restaurant has a couple of patrons dining in. During the weekdays, the restaurant is closed from 3-4pm. We typically order the hot and sour soup and mooshu pork, though unfortunately, the flavors and textures aren't always consistent. Recently, the hot and sour soup's level of pepper always varies. I can't detect if it's a black pepper or chili pepper taste, but sometimes it's too strong, and other times the taste is too watery. As for the mooshu pork, which comes with rice paper wraps that they call "pancakes," are typically fresh and soft, but recently we received stale pancakes that broke very easily. Regardless of those aspects, we have been ordering from Dragon Terrace almost once a week as we enjoy the other items on the menu: eggplant and tofu, chow menu, etc. read more

We got here at about 12.30 pm on Wednesday. Plenty of parking on the complex. There are other restaurants around but this was probably the most crowded on a Wednesday afternoon. We were greeted and seated as soon as we entered. The waiter who attended us was knowledgeable and polite. He walked us through their most famous items and we ended up ordering Mongolian beef and Kung pao shrimp as suggested. Mongolian beef was spicy and hit the right spots as always. Plenty of meat pieces in it. Kung pao shrimp had about 8/9 shrimps and delicious as well. Would definitely come back again. The place was crowded and ambiance was nice.
