As a retired boutique scratch baker of over 30 years, and a well-travelled committed food pro, so often I am disappointed, if not physically sickened, in our great country by the low standards, poor skills, inedible ingredients (so often even toxic) used by our professional bakers. But to find this bakery, employing all butter in its croissant and puff pastry, creating shatteringly crisp ethereal layers of texture and flavour: truly these baked goods reaffirm all that is right in the world. There is truth, honesty and integrity creating a real bond of trust between creator and customer. This is a sacred thing. I also enjoyed their works bagel. IMO, a perfect balance of chewy texture, gentle tug of war between give and get with a taste of a mature dough. But, best of all, not an inflated dough ball of immensity! The right size....so I am traditionalist..shoot me! Thank you for reaffirming that the staff of life, our Daily Bread is a gift from the heavens! And a sweet, clean, warm welcoming environment with kind, helpful and friendly knowledgeable counter staff! I stopped in because a friend was having a birthday, and I wanted to get her a little something to celebrate! The woman working the counter was so nice, very friendly, and super helpful! I needed gluten free items, and she showed me their selection of GF treats. Good selection, and I wish I took a picture of their brownie tiramisu, before I gave it away, but it looked so delicious!! Extraordinary desserts. Today I purchased the best chocolate tart I've ever eaten. It had a flaky buttery crispy crust, flavorful chocolate filling, and dense yet fluffy cream topping. No soggy bottom. Frosted sugar cookies were excellent in flavor, texture, and decoration. They looked like something from a Food Network baking challenge show. Beautiful. I will be going back again. We had our wedding cake done by Melissa and her team at TSP Bakeshop. We were impressed from our initial meeting. She set up the tasting in a way where we could try multiple combinations. She continued to impress us by making a drawing of our cake right then and there. I wanted a BIG cake which was going to be easy since we were looking at 300+ guests. When he had to downsize, Melissa innovated and made part of our cake out of foam to keep it looking the way I wanted. On the wedding day, the cake was beautiful but more importantly it was SO GOOD. When my husband and I cut the cake we did the whole feed each other a bite and I remember our eyes widening thinking "wow this is so good"! We ended up tucking away to finish the whole piece together. There was no leftover cake! We should have kept the big cake since my mom kept getting asked if the leftover cake was at her house the next day. PS - cake flavor was chocolate & vanilla with salted caramel. read more

Mixed feelings about this bakeshop. I wanted to give it 2 stars originally but talked myself into that extra star because I support local businesses and bakeries and if they are both- wahoo! I liked that the store was clean and bright and had good hours. I liked the selection of the baked goods although the store space is quite long and narrow so it feels like you've seen everything for sale right after you step in the door. Maybe put something in the back to create a little bit more of a cozy atmosphere? They had probably 12-15 different selections but it felt fewer than that. I think the employees could use some help with their customer service, though. The gal who helped me did not want to discuss the baked goods or give recommendations of what to try. She didn't offer to heat the ham and cheese croissant even though there were microwaves and toaster ovens along the back wall. And this is what got me- after assuming we wanted our pastries to go (even though my children had already sat at a table), she placed my ham and cheese croissant on top of a frosted and decorated cupcake in the to-go box. Yep, right on top. Thanks. See why I wanted to go with 2 stars? It was an unimpressive visit to say the least. Good luck to them. read more

I have blessed in life with being gluten free, so finding a gluten free pastry is near impossible in the tri-cities. I got the gf peanut butter cookie there and it is by far the best gf, if not regular cookie I have ever had. My husband and I go in as often as we can to get one. The store is super clean and homey feeling. They are a new store so there isn't too many pastries in the cases but everything my husband has tried is great! It's a good location for west Richland which makes a nice walk if you live near by! Everyone should try and support local. read more

The mister and I were out of town for our anniversary and spending time meandering through Richland. We popped into Tabor Street Brewing Co and had some of the BEST soft pretzels we have ever had in our life! These were not your typical soft pretzels like you find at a German restaurant or Antie's in the mall. These were light and flaky - almost croissant like - and we were in love so we inquired as to the source of these gems and then put on our "to-do" list: TRACK DOWN MORE PRETZELS from TSP Bakeshop. Silly side note: The name TSP Bakeshop originally threw me off because I am a baker and a DIY home remodeler, so I know two things: 1. teaspoon is abbreviated tsp not TSP and 2. TSP (all caps) is short for trisodium phosphate, a heavy duty cleaner that is often used before painting. Now, I don't know about you, but I am PICKY when it comes to baked goods. I have been baking for profit and pleasure for decades and there are a few things that I look for when I go into a bakery. First, it needs NEEDS to be clean and the baked goods have to look pretty too! First impressions really are everything. I also really believe eating treats should be a very pleasant multi-sensory experience because they should be savored and mindfully enjoyed (as well as limited so as to stay healthy, happy, and lean). This bakery delivered on both fronts, certainly much better than 90% of the other bakeries I have visited! But here's why I didn't give five stars: They didn't have the prezles! (Just kidding, I wouldn't rate down a place because they didn't carry something that one day) I rate it four stars because I am still looking for that one place - the one bakery that wows me. The bakery that turns out cookies and cakes that taste as good or better than the ones I make at home. And, the place that not only has a good first impression, but is also warm and inviting inside. This place wasn't that way. It was friendly and tidy (but not spic and span and there was a huge dead bug in the bathroom that had me a little worried), but it wasn't the overall experience I am looking for. I've tried this business twice. The first time I got a croissant and some macaroons and they were pretty hard. It was later in the afternoon when I stopped in so I just assumed that it was because everything had been out all day. I tried an almond croissant and got s sugar cookie for my kids at the farmer's market today and experienced the same thing. The sugar cookie and icing on the cookie were so hard that my 1 year old couldn't eat it at all and my 2 year old had such a hard time that I wound up taking it away from her. The croissant was not fluffy at all and also kind of hard. Again, they both had good flavor but it seemed as though they were a couple of days old. The gals at the stand were really friendly. Unfortunately, I probably won't give them another try. Both times I've purchased from them I've been disappointed, especially considering the price. read more

I attempted to place an order for a birthday cake with TSP Bakeshop with what I thought was a reasonable pick up date of one week. To my surprise I was told they would not accept my order as they were simply too busy due to, "all of the weddings and stuff". I did get an apology (a "sorry" with a shoulder shrug) but that was the extent of the service. I asked if they were sure that there was absolutely no way to take my order and the reply was, "no, sorry". Typically, I'd ask for a little more detail before walking out after all, I'm the customer (in this case a potential customer) and I expect at least an effort be made to accommodate. It was clear that TSP did not need or want my business. I am reasonable and understand capacity constraints however, being dismissed so tactlessly leaves a bad taste in my mouth, enough to share my experience and avoid TSP Bakeshop for any of my future needs. I went elsewhere (another local bakery) and received a level service that I think all customers are entitled to, regardless of the transaction. In summary, a lot of customers and potential customers would like to support a local/neighborhood business and will pay a premium to do so. If they put the effort in to avoid convenience for something special, please put the effort into the customer service to deliver to the best of your ability. In this aspect, I believe TSP Bakeshop can do much, much better. read more

I really wanted to give more more stars but I just can't bring myself to. First off, the positive. I've tried several of their baked goods ( even gluten free stuff) from farmers market, and several coffee shops that carry their baked goods. They are quite tasty.... usually. One time I asked for a chocolate orange scone and I saw her grab a beth one and put it in bag. I asked her about it and she said no it was choc. Orange. I let it go, paid and left. Got home.... berry scone. Now the MAIN reason for one . Their customer service is really lacking. BAD I don't know if they are overwhelmed... ( I know they have a lot of wholesale orders) or what it is but it's really too bad. I called to order a cake , and I did get a call back and placed the order. Their shop is adorable, as I got to see it when I picked up my order . The staff there have little to no excitement about their business or seems... I asked about other things they make and I got really short answered and it was just so strange. The cake was absolutely adorable. My son absolutely loved it. The problem came when we ate it. The cake itself was great. We got a simple chocolate and it was good. The problem was the icing, it was bad. REALLY really bad. It was buttercream, and tasted just like a stick of butter. I think the sugar got left out. A huge mistake. I called the next day ( they never answer phone) and left a message with my name, number and the issue with the cake. I NEVER got a call back. I decided to try and order another cake and give them another try about a month later for another one of my boys birthdays. I called three times and left two messages. I never got a call back. So, needless to say I moved on to another bakery. ( Frost Me Sweet) And they did a spectacular job. So from now on I will order from them. I wasn't expecting a refund or even a discount to my next order... Just a phone call. Really disheartened about the customer service ... Ordered two cakes for a bridal shower. I gave them just the shower theme and let them take it from there. The cakes turned out amazing! The decorations on the cake were perfect and so delicious. The shop is immaculately clean and bright, really cute. It's kind of a strange layout when you first walk in because the back is just empty. The baked goods are A-MAZING! Marionberry scones, handheld pies, sandwiches...all fabulous. Their cupcakes are great and so much better than other bakeries around who's cupcakes are all frosting. Not a place I'd want to linger over a coffee and go back for a second ($$$$) pastry. Staff wasn't friendly either. I wish them luck though. When my kids were there last week, they were treated with such disrespect that I will never set foot into this business again. This is not the carrot cake I am used to and wish I would have baked it myself. Too much frosting between layers but the outside was alright since I asked for "naked cake". I'm done with this place. I've tried and have tried hard to support this business, but the poor customer service has completely turned me off. They very obviously don't want my money. I live in the same neighborhood as Tsp, so when they opened I was excited to support them, because really, who doesn't love baked goods? I went on opening day and was disappointed with their customer service then. Call me crazy, but when you walk into someone's business the expectation is to be greeted. I got nothing. Nada. But whatever, I shrugged it off and chalked it up to a bad day, even if it was their first day in business. I stopped in a couple more times after that and even though I was greeted those times, the staff always came across as cold and acted as though they had better places to be and better people to serve. Fast forward to my son's first birthday last year, I called and left them a message, as well as emailing them twice, telling them that it was my son's first birthday and I loved one of their cakes that I saw in their online cake portfolio. Do you think they responded? Nope. I then took my business to Frost Me Sweet, who of course got back to me with a swift response. You would've think I learned my lesson from last year, but this year for my son's second birthday, I thought to myself that I'd give them another chance to redeem themselves from last year. So I messaged them on Facebook messenger (I've found that I usually get a quicker response from businesses on Facebook than their email) telling them that I'd like a small cake for my kid's second birthday and I let them know that I didn't get a response from them a year ago. I was hoping that would clue them in to the fact that I was disappointed a year ago and that they would rectify their lack of communication by responding to me this year. Well of course, I got nothing. Zip. So once again I took my business elsewhere and got a beautiful cake from Desserts by Kelly. I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am with this business. They even had a grand re-opening and I was hoping that they would've fixed their poor customer service issues (there are other reviews on here and Facebook with people complaining of poor service), but that's proven to not have changed. There are people on here who've had good luck with Tsp, and that's fantastic for them. I don't know if they're selective in who they respond to, I don't know. My boyfriend stopped by this place to check it out, the display case was empty, but someone asked him what he would like. He asked about some cupcakes, and they said they might have some in the freezer!! He unwisely stayed while the cupcakes defrosted and were then frosted. Big mistake! I spent a great deal of time composing an honest review, both with my positive thoughts about tsp bakeshop as well as some suggestions I felt could benefit this new shop & hoped the owner/employees might consider them. My wish was to continue to support them as I felt they had the potential to be a wonderful addition to W. Richland as well as the Tri City community but lacked warmth, both in atmosphere & personal service & the baked good needed to be fresh, contrary to my several experiences, hoping I had always been in on an off day.
