    Donuts

Viera's Bakery and Deli has a huge selection of baked goods and treats! We went here to grab donuts and breakfast to bring back home to our family and we were pleasantly surprised to see so many options to choose from. We ended up getting about 3 boxes of baked goods that included chocolate sprinkle donuts, bacon maple bar, chocolate donut bar, conchas, ham and cheese croissants and muffins. My littlest nephew was so excited to see the size of the chocolate donut - it was huge! I tried the ham and cheese croissant and the strawberry muffin, both were delicious. I would definitely recommend coming here for baked goods whether it's for sweet treats in the morning or even to grab some of their desserts that would be great for after dinner. They even had fresh bread in the back that we were tempted to get - the jalapeno sourdough stood out to me the most.

We came here yesterday for their cheese zombies and tomato soup! They were soooo delicious and amazing! They had a couple cute tables to sit at and they had some other comfy chairs to sit in also. They have a very small menu as far as deli food but the quality is there. But as fas as pastries and baked goods they have a ton of options!! The services was great. The ladies were very sweet and kind. We will definitely be back and highly recommend checking it out!

We were visiting family in Yakima and I heard that there were a few restaurants that had cheese zombies. I gave it a goog and found Viera's. I am so glad I did. When we went there we were amazed at the variety of donuts and pastries available. Everything we have tried is amazing. We like it so much we ordered my son's wedding cake from there and it was perfection!!

I saw this bakery while pumping gas next door so checked it out. What a gem! The space is large with more bread and pastries than I've ever seen in one place. There's a seating area where you can relax with a freshly made sandwich or pastry. They can also prepare cakes for special occasions. Everything I've tasted has been yummy.

Very recently my wife and I were both talking about how it would be nice to have an additional good bakery in town. No sooner had we chatted then Vieira's announced that they were opening a branch in Yakima... Maybe we need to talk about winning the lottery next! This place is so good that we ended up going twice in the same day. They've got a myriad of different baked good options including pastries, cookies, donuts (In sizes huge and extra huge) As well as plenty of Mexican delights including sweet breads and empanadas. There are no less than 10 cases full of baked goods here - it's seriously boss! We sampled some of the donuts in each of our little dudes took down one that was about the size of their head. The donuts are yeasty, soft and just perfect! The thing I was most impressed with is the fact that they have Cream filled longjohns. They are quite amazing. They also have tons of specialty baked goods including cakes, cupcakes and region specific items - we sampled a Salvadorian quesadilla - awesomeness! The variety here is unreal and the quality as good as anywhere we've been! The crown jewel is the Homer sized pink frosting donut for $4.99! A small price to pay to feed 5 people! Prices are very reasonable with everything selling for around $1 +/- $0.50. The day old sweet rolls are $1 and they rotate racks of rolls that run around 4 for $1! All in all, this is a complete bakery that has tons to offer AND has a deli where they'll make you a sandwich, chips and a drink for $5.99! GO TO VIERA'S TODAY!

    Doughnuts, fritters, cookies, empanadas, muffins

This place is so cool! When you walk in, they have baker's racks of donuts and pastries that are self serve. They also have 2 rows of cases with plastic doors with muffins, empanadas, cookies, etc. When you walk in, you grab a plastic tray and a set of tongs, load up your tray, then take it up front, where they put everything into a box and you pay. They also have dozens of iced sugar cookies, macarons, cake pops, dipped pretzels, etc. You have to go!!!

The owner, Fred (Alfred) is a friendly swiss man who must be in his 80's. He has a thick swiss accent, but that only makes sense considering the name of the store! During my discussion with Fred, I found out that he started working with meat in the mid 60's. He started the Matterhorn Meat Shop in 1975 and has been doing it ever since. He told me that he got into the business because he enjoyed doing it, not because of the money! I was excited to try a get a feel for the quality here, so I decided to trying a little bit of several items: Jerky ($16/95/lb): Very good. He keeps it frozen, but it's been great once it's thawed. It's a bit on the thicker side, but I'd get some again. Jerky is always expensive, but this seemed pretty reasonable. Gothaer Zervelat - It's basically a german salami. It's an oblong shape and has a pretty good smoke flavor to it. If you're into salami, try some of this! Knockwurst - I haven't tried it yet, but I'm told that its the swiss version of a hot dog. It looks similar to a brat. Spicy Sausage - A bit milder than I would like, but delicious! Mild Sausage - Delightful! A fairly standard sausage, but worth trying. Landjaeger - Its quite a bit different that the other ones that I've had. Based on my experience here, I can't imagine that this is anything but 100% authentic. They are pretty big, but the flavor is mild and worth trying. Bring cash - I'm not sure if he accepts credit cards or not. I think that his register is the same one that he had in 1975, which is awesome! My only regret is that I didn't discover the Matterhorn Meat Shop earlier. This is undoubtedly on it's way to becoming one of my favorite shops around!

This place is a gem amidst a sea of corporate chain sandwich shops. I was running errands around lunchtime and, feeling peckish, I thought about something to eat. Now I had many more errands, so road food was the order of the day. But how many burgers can you eat? There are even some pretty good independent burger joints, but sometimes, you just want a sandwich. Now, for context, our progeny ate a school lunch maybe a half dozen times, total, throughout their school years. Most of the time, I made lunch, and the centerpiece was the sandwich. Carefully selected meats, fresh veggies, a wide variety of sauces (they can't even eat a roast beef sandwich to this day without a bit of horseradish in there somewhere) were combined with excellent bread. That is what I wanted. That is what I got. The bread choices are white or brown, but that's because the emphasis is on the interiors. The Italiano, with pastrami, salami, and pepperoni, is a classic combination, with provolone, pepperoncini, and "all the fixins" (In response to whether or not I wanted "everything" I replied "Fuck me up, sandwich sensei!") because I firmly believe in allowing the restaurant to present you with their wares, and let you decide if you like them. Now, the-woman-who-lets-me-live-with-her (thanks Mike), cannot stand black olives, but in this sandwich, they provide such a tempering influence of slightly salty, slightly bitter counterpoint to the sweet bell peppers, that it would have been poorer without them. I thought I was only going to eat about half and then save the rest, but I just couldn't help myself. I ate the whole dang thing. The vibe is classic sandwich shop, there is someone at the end of the line freshly slicing more meats as needed while two people turn out submarine deliciousness for an anxious crowd. Do not miss this place, it is a gem.

I love Jersey Mikes and I recently had to go gluten free due to a gluten intolerance. Please read…read moreon if you do as well, as I hope this will be helpful for you. The food: I let the employees know I needed to have my order gluten free. One of the employees washed her hands and they both changed gloves. She also wiped down the meat and cheese slicer machine (though that doesn't get rid of gluten, if there is any) and wiped down the counter. She brought out a separate tray and knife to protect the gluten free bread from the counter. The gluten free bread itself was in a little plastic bag (like from a company, and hadn't been opened yet). I really appreciated their procedures to prevent cross contamination, as I feel most restaurants aren't really drilled on it. Some (some, not all) of their sodas are gluten free, since they contain agave instead of gluten and other artificial flavors. There are also gluten free chips available. The gluten free bread didn't actually taste like sponges and tasted pretty okay instead. I got the super sub and it was very good! The service: As mentioned, the employees were incredibly considerate and thoughtful when it came to my gluten allergy. I appreciated it so much, so kudos to the team at Jersey Mikes! The environment: The restaurant is a moderate size, has about 5 or 6 tables, and has 2 bathrooms. It was clean, orderly, and well lit. Final thoughts: The experience went well for me, but if you seriously need to avoid cross contamination, there is still a risk of it (and I think it depends who is working there and how knowledgeable they are of it as well).
