I have found one of the worst things a business can do is advertise one price and then charge a customer a different price. Your menu lists the price for a coffee as $7.00 and a yogurt bowl at $9.25. I was rung up more for both items. Please fix your menu. read more

Stumbled across this cute coffee place and glad I did. Such a cute deco, yes, like the name everything is themed around books. Awesome interior design and well thought out. It's small but there are seats for everyone. You can to go or sit and enjoy your beverages. There was a line and when we walked in we heard a voice, welcome we won't be long! I was surprised with how many people in line the server made a point to greet us. Two lovely cheery ladies happily greeted to take our orders. One was in training so she kept apologizing for her coffee art work, which was fine . Lattes were good and in a good size mugs. We also had the avocado toast which did not disappoint. First impression is adorable! The cutest ambiance and style and so many photo worthy design elements. Service at the counter was quick. The menu has pictures of the toasts and bowls which was cool. Coffee came out quick and food took a little while. We both enjoyed our meals which were also photo worthy. The Greek toast was delicious; pickled onion was crunchy and zesty, but the toast was not very toasted (if at all?) and it was a bit hard to cut through. They put a cute paper down between the toast and the food but it got soggy and ripped with the knife. If you get concerned about accidentally eating paper just be forewarned-lol! I wasn't, rather it was more of a minor inconvenience. A large party with children came in and it got really loud for a bit. Novel may look into sound abatement features for their next upgrade. Coffee was good! Started with an Americano and ended with a cold brew- both were excellent. Overall was pleased and would go back to try more toast flavors! read more

Nothing spectacular but would easily recommend and worth a small detour. Toast: 2???/5. Frankly baffling. Neither of our toasts were toasted. It was raw bread (good bread, a very generous slice), with cream cheese and a healthy amount of guac smeared on and then precooked bacon on top, plus seasonings and pepper flakes. I cannot imagine a world where you accidentally spread cream cheese and guac on untoasted bread so I guess(???) the default for their toasts is untoasted? Or the baristas just didn't care at all? I would prefer not to jump to that conclusion, they seemed friendly and mostly engaged. We ended up just eating and leaving. Idk! I want to recommend places like this and I guess I mostly can but... yea make sure to ask for your toast to be toasted, I guess. Would've been pretty great otherwise. Overall, here is what I ordered: MILK TEA BOBA: I ordered this drink iced and half sweet. Their boba quality was okay texture-wise, but they tended to clump up which made it difficult to drink through the straw a few times (kept on getting stuck). I also ordered this half sweet and the tea quality tasted diluted. Overall, this was a miss from me for both the tea and boba as I have had a ton of boba from various places. THE NUTCRACKER: This was one of their holiday specials, which I ordered hot and half sweet. This drink comes with toffee nut, sea salt, caramel, and espresso. I've been a fan of Novel since it first opened. The aesthetic has always been appealing. It stands out from other coffee shops in the area. The coffee is made well and the avocado toast is delicious (though another review recommended actually toasting the bread, and I agree.) The staff are kind and welcoming. This is what I miss about Novel from when it first opened: I remember going because I saw a creatives every time I went in. People drawing, editing photos, writing. The music was mostly vibing instrumentals and had a classy timeless feel to it. Now it seems like a place for Bible studies and Christian music. I've started frequenting Novel less because of that reason. As I read through other reviews, I'm not the only customer that seems turned away by this. read more

Everything was as expected. Cute coffee shop. It's rare to find a well decorated interior in the Tri-Cities. Drinks were overpriced, but there's no drive thru so it seems you're paying for the experience of sitting inside. There was a lot of young women sitting inside studying or meeting with friends. It is serving its purpose. I would like to go back but I probably won't because of the worship music. There are so many great neutral music options available now with streaming services, there's no reason to exclude customers from feeling welcome with the choice of music. I was in Richland for 5 days for a work training so good coffee is required. This coffee shop is super cute and every drink I got from them was the perfect amount of sweetness and bitterness from the coffee. Most places it's all milk or isn't sweet enough. The overall vibe is cool with the book theme. Now you might be asking why I took off two stars, first every day I went in, the barista was not friendly. No hello, good morning, smile, anything. One of the days I waited till 8:10am for the shop to open and it didn't. I was running short on time so I went to Peacock coffee across the street and their barista was very warm and welcoming. Ironically Novel Coffee posted on their IG story they were opened at 8am when they weren't. I would still go if I was back in town but I would keep my experiences in mind. read more

I wasn't expecting much at first since it seemed more like a coffee shop and most of the bubble tea I have tried from coffee shop has been less than stellar. I ordered something simple, a brown sugar milk bubble tea and strawberry banana toast. I was so surprised The brown sugar boba was so freaking good. It was probably the best brown sugar boba I have ever tasted in my whole life. The toast was pretty good as well. The service and the ambiance is super nice and chill.
