What a cute Japanese cafe. Situated right in the middle of a Toyota dealership. Strange? Not really. The idea really works! The spacious surrounding with vaulted ceilings makes for good dining. At lunch time (11am) bento boxes are available as counter service. The unagi (eel) on rice is my favourite. For Vancouver the unagi is quite good. Sauced just nice. It also comes with a premium tea (3 choices) hot/cold and a cheesecake. Reminiscent for modern Japanese cafes? Try Tsujiri in the Toyota dealership. I will definitely be back.

This Tsujiri is located within the Toyota dealership in the auto circle. Great idea for customers who are waiting as well as anyone who may be in the area. My family and I came to this location since we heard it was new. Parking may be a little hard since it is a car dealership, however it is less busy than the other location and they also have wifi so people can work and grab food. The menu has different options for combos that include a drink and a dessert, or you can get the single dish. They have different foods such as poke bowls, sandwiches, or soba noodles along with slices of cake. We ordered the black sesame latte, salmon poke soba combo, the tonkatsu black combo, and onigirazu. The only thing was that we had to wait for about 20-30 minutes for the food to come out as it seemed like there was only one worker who was doing everything by herself. The poke soba was very fresh and refreshing as there was also a ponzu sauce that was pour on top. The flavors were not too overpowering either and went very well with each other. The tonkatsu ramen was also very delicious and flavorful. The broth was rich and creamy and wasn't too salty, and the noodles were al dente and perfect. The broth was so good I had to drink it all! I would highly recommend getting the poke and tonkatsu ramen. As for the onigiriazu, this was not the best, as the katsu was not crispy and tasted dry. There was not also very much flavor and there was too much rice compared to the filling. For the drinks and desserts, the black sesame matcha latte was strong to have both flavors of nuttiness from the black sesame, and good match flavor, I really enjoyed this drink. We also got the matcha cheesecake as part of the combo menu and this was rich and delicious while not being too sweet either.

First time. Located in a Toyota dealership w/ dedicated eating area. Menu is matcha focused with Matcha infused meals, onigiri type sandwiches, Mochi, Tea, and latte. Service staff is friendly. Lots of attention and care in the food delivery. Food and drinks have a lot of flavor. Portion size is appropriate for one and is surprisingly quite filling. If you are in the area, getting your car service or want a different experience. Check this place out.

My sister won a gift card to Tsujiri so we decided to go for lunch at the small location at the Richmond Automall, as the actual restaurant doesn't open until later in the day. There is some seating at Tsujiri and it was nicely spaced out. The menu was limited so we ordered the tonkotsu black ramen, a tonkotsu red ramen, two orders of the spam & egg sushi sandwich, a matcha frappe and a hojicha hot tea. The hojicha reminded me exactly of what I had in Japan, which was nice and you can taste the quality. The tonkotsus only differed in broth, which was slightly disappointing. Aside from some spring onions and two pieces of cha sui there was only green ramen with broth, which is disappointing. The broth was nice but there was nothing special about the ramen. A bowl didn't fill me up so was glad that both my sister and I also ordered a spam & egg sandwich each plus a drink. The spam and egg sandwich was really nice but it is pricey for two pieces for $7.95 each. The best thing about is this location is honestly the staff. They were incredibly helpful, kind, and friendly. With the limited menu, low quantity of food, and high prices I can't say I would return, which is too bad as the staff and service here is really nice. Am glad I got to try it out but $60 barely filled us up for lunch. I might try the parfait at their larger location though.

Love them. Chewy, not overly sweet and super satisfying matcha flavour. Filling was in the perfect amount of red bean, my favourite. Definitely my go-to for daifuku in the city.

Tsujiri Japanese is one of Grayson and I's favourite spots to grab healthy Japanese food. They never disappoint and we always find new dishes to enjoy there. On our last visit, we tried the ramen and salmon ochazuke. This time tried a tea, cold noodle dish, hot rice bowl and a matcha cake! This salmon poke was unlike any I've had before. Instead of coming with rice, it came with matcha soba noodles. There was also dashi jelly, tomatoes, avocado, salmon, nori and salad greens. I liked how they had dashi jelly on top to add texture, saltiness and umami flavour. The avocado added creaminess and the tomatoes added acidity. My favourite part was the salmon though because the pieces were packed with flavour from being marinaded. Loved this dish and would get it again! Ochazuke is a Japanese rice dish that you pour tea over before consuming. Last visit we tried the salmon version and this time we decided to have try the unagi one. The unagi was cooked well and lightly brushed with a sweet soy-based sauce. The rice was topped with puffed rice, soba sushi roll, umeboshi, woodear mushroom, and green onions. Our favourite part is the dashi tea broth it came with because it added warmth and umami flavour. This dish is one we would never get tired of. This matcha cheesecake reminded us of the one we tried from L'otus cake boutique. It had rich, deep matcha flavour and was lightly sweetened. The cake had a nice fluffy texture but you couldn't really taste the cheese flavour. The crust was perfectly golden brown and crunchy and I liked how it wasn't too thick so you could still taste the matcha flavour.

We waited 20 minutes for the salmon onigirazu but soo worth it. The rice was warm, the flaked salmon plentiful and super flavorful. Each bite was the perfect bite. My only qualm was the nori gets a little tough to eat/break through. Otherwise, great experience! Plenty of parking too since it's in a dealership "road."

I no longer am by this place, so lunch here everyday won't be a tradition, BUT this cheesecake has got me dreaming and let me tell you... it was supposed to only be half for me and half for my boyfriend. A little secret... it was all for me. I love the people working here always making me feel like family and the best part? They're so welcoming and so sweet! I love this branch

first stop for light lunch! we found street parking right in front of the Toyota building and the cafe is obvious once you walk in. service was wonderful, super clean & plenty of seating. we split the salmon onigirirazu, was a perfect snack/light lunch. it does take a while for your order because they make everything fresh and with care. it was so good and delicate. even the takuan tasted fresh!

New location!!! Ive spotted it a few times when it was still undergoing construction inside the Toyota Automall! Their menu has a larger selection than the location near Walmart! I ordered from UberEats to try their popular Onigirazu! (Sushi Sandwiches) I got all three of their Onigirazu options! Spam + Egg : I'm not a huge fan of spam since it can be quite salty, but paired with the ramen egg together it actually tastes really good! this one reminded me of an egg salad sandwich (aside from the spam) which I enjoyed! Veggie : this one was a vegetarian option that comes with veggies, mushroom and fried tofu skin drizzled with a sweet unagi sauce! I wasn't sure if I would like this one, but it actually tasted yummier than I imagined Salmon : my ! Who doesn't like salmon, tamago and wasabi mayo?? this one tastes exactly as you would imagine it to be, and it's amazing! (may be biased since I mayonnaise haha) Although the price point for these are definitely on the higher side (around $8-9), they are definitely tasty! I would say its worth a shot to try!!! more photos @eatswithcece

The food is not too salty and the broth was perfectly seasoned for my palate. My boyfriend also ordered an espresso romano which I had never tried before. The foam on top was surprisingly refreshing with a tart aftertaste of lime. The prices were also very fair with most sets averaging around $19-20 before tax. Udon soup 4.5/5 you get your choice of beef, pork or chicken. It comes with a side of tempura. It was good! Hot and fresh. I love that the temprua was not in the soup. Mango soda 3/5. Refreshing yes. The staffs/owner were very friendly and made great recommendations. Had the hamachi carpaccio, so refreshing and appetizing. The homemade ponzu (lemony) sauce has a nice finish with thin sliced onions and veggies. The Engawa Arburi nigiri was recommended, and it was phenomenal. It is the 'fin edge' of flounder. Super delicate, with seared (arburi) flavor and melts in your mouth. Yum! The other highlight was the Wagyu beef cubes severed on stick. Two skewers 4 cubes each. The Wagyu was perfectly cooked. It melts in your mouth with every bite. We also enjoyed the 7 piece Omakase sushi set. The fish was very fresh and satiating. Love the lotus root chips garnishing. We loved everything we had but would likely skip the Omakase appetizer Platter. Perhaps we were spoiled by the hamachi carpaccio appetizer. We still enjoyed it but For the same price, we would prefer the sushi set. It had 9 small plates in a beautiful serving box including- tiny sashimi cube of salmon, tuna, tamago, and my fav is the komochi nishin (herring fillets ("Nishin") layered over a base of crunchy capelin roe), also included in the tiny plates of apps were, chicken karaage, baby taco, sliced taco, taco in red sauce, and seaweed salad. We sat in a separate section of the restaurant with 3 tables at the front. We ordered chicken wings, assorted tempura, miso black cod and an order of beef teriyaki that was not on the menu. The servings are very small for the prices charged. We found that the chicken wings (only 4 small wings) $9.50 were a bit dry. The tempura batter was not as crisp or crunchy as we've had. The miso black cod was a very small portion - maybe 4 oz. for $18.00. We did not feel that there was value for the money. The food was average and the prices were too high for the quality and amount of food received. We did not enjoy the anime that was playing and we were glad that we were not sitting in the main dining room. Overall, we feel that there are better options for a Japanese meal.

We opted to share the Zenbu set (comes with variety of pork, chicken, cheese, seafood and veggie tempura) and realized we could get refillable rice, soup, and salad for both of us. This was awesome! I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken thigh. I normally always order pork katsu, but the chicken was tender and juicy. The scallop was huge and not rubbery at all! There was more than enough food for the both of us and we even both had leftovers for lunch the next day. We also ordered the lobster croquette, which was fun to try. Like any croquette, there was a lot of mixed ingredients apart from the lobster, but it was still tasty and fun. The staff were attentive at refilling items and were easy to flag down. This is definitely a place that I would return to again and again when I'm in the mood for Katsu.

It had chicken karaage, gyoza, miso soup, ebi sunomono, a few pieces of a Cali roll, 6 pieces of nigiri (salmon, tuna, ebi, tai, scallop, unagi), a few cubes of tuna "carpaccio" and an orange slice. Paired it with 5oz of some hot sake. Before getting into the food, I'll say I had a pleasant dinner and it's at par with restaurants at its relative price point. $42 before tip to be tipsy and full is a deal. Similar quality to Ganbei nearby which I've frequented several times. This is a quantity vs quality place. The best thing on the tray was the chicken karaage. And at a very close second was the ebi sunomono. Karaage was battered well, very juicy. Sunomono was a refreshing, tangy, and sweet accompaniment. The actual sushi is where it fell off. Each piece was amateurishly put together; some nigiri had hard rice, fish tasted flat, rice wasn't seasoned. It passes for a mid-range sushi restaurant, but it won't blow you away. Respectable 3/5

However, I know why this restaurant continues to be booked and busy. I have been various times before but this was the first time in the last few years. I would describe this restaurant as western fine dining for a Chinese palate. You'll find some classic dishes but less heavy on the salt and grease, perfect for myself and the party I was dining with. I ordered the 5 course meal which was a fantastic deal for $65. The bread service at the start is so warm and yummy - don't skip out on it! The pesto sauce tiger prawns weren't overly pesto forward and had a strong presence of garlic - perfect for me! I loved the chowder as I especially like corn. The portion was also perfect considering I had many courses coming afterwards. Next, came the crab cake, which was generously filled with crab and paired with delicious house made butter. For each dish, I found the garnishes pleasing as well (especially the strawberry which was so sweet and ripe!). I think the best deal of the night was the steak. It was not too salty and cooked perfectly to a medium-rare. I managed to have leftovers as well since the portions were overwhelmingly good. Finally, the star of the night was definitely the chocolate soufflé for me. I loved the rich bitterness of the chocolate paired with ice cream on the side. I don't think this place is the best representation for fine dining. After all, they do not serve any alcohol. However, I think it is a great deal and accommodating to my taste buds. If I do not wish to drive out for fancy food, I know I can rely on the food at Shoestring café. As it is a family run business, there is only one person managing the front and I think they do a pretty good job at juggling all the duties of a host, server, and table busser! The duck was well done but not tough (we generally like medium rare) though we were confused by why the skin was served down as crispy skin is always a plus for duck breasts. I'm not a fan of mashed potatoes but theirs was not overly heavy and buttery, which I really appreciated and enjoyed.
