I came here one day after passing it several times to get a snack after my workout. The girl behind the counter was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu to help me decide what I would like. I believe I got the conchito a ham and cheese pocket sandwich. The bread was so good a little bit sweet which I liked. I asked them to warm it up for me and she did but I will say it wasn't all the way warmed through so if you have time, just take it to your house to warm it, but I t was not cold by any means. I wanted to get more, but I had just left the gym and didn't want to do too much. The decor is so bright and colorful with ample seating, even though the place was not that big They use scrabble pieces as descriptions for their items they even do a giveaway using Scrabble if you can guess what the item of the day is. There are also different items per purchase from other countries from food to knickknacks. I would definitely suggest checking it out. read more

The menu lists several flavors of arepas, which are bread-like cornmeal patties that are filled with various meats, beans, cheeses, vegetables, etcetera. The menu also lists a few flavors of empanadas and other foods. Furthermore, on shelves are packages of foods that are imported from other countries such as Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, and Venezuela. My husband and I ate lunch here on a weekend. Another customer was being served ahead of us, so we waited for several minutes before we placed our order. Two employees cooked all of the foods as made-to-order, and they brought out the foods one-by-one. Some tables and chairs were available to sit at. Here are my reviews for the foods and drink: Vegetable empanada - 3.5 stars - This empanada was made from a crispy dough that was filled with a vegetable mixture. Domino arepa - 5 stars - This arepa contained black beans and white cheese, and I enjoyed the flavors very much. Sifrina arepa - 4 stars - This arepa contained shredded chicken, gouda, and avocado. My husband ate all of it, and he seemed to like it. Americana arepa - 4 stars - My husband also ate this American-style arepa, which was filled with bacon, egg, and cheese. I just went here for the first time and I am blown away! I have never had a Cuban sandwich before so I don't have anything to compare this to, but all I can say is: wow!! I will definitely be back. Everything tastes made-from-scratch. I also had a mocha latte. I don't get those from a lot of other places because I typically don't like the chocolate that's used in them. The music and decor are right on point and they also sell a number of Latin products. We ordered a few arepas, a chicken empanada, and a Cuban sandwich. Everything was delicious and had lots of flavor. The arepas and Cuban were each very filling. I also had the chicha with condensed milk and it was fantastic! Not sure how long the cafe has been open but service was a bit slow and we noticed a few customers leave while we waited because they weren't acknowledged. Stopped in yesterday on a drizzly Friday morning and was so happy with how cozy and warm Tu Y Yo feels! Lots of cool decor on the walls and they've done a really good job with the place. Went to Tu y Yo last Saturday for my birthday. I studied in Argentina during college so I was happy to have traditional South American Food. My husband enjoyed the cortadito. We both really enjoyed the empanadas. They were loaded with ground beef and the Argentinian Style which I much prefer. My husband is half Colombian so he doesn't normally like this style since the wrap is different in both versions. He really liked this one. We also liked the pico de gallo that came with it. It was so sweet. The cheese bread was so good. We love to get it when we go to Brazilian Steakhouses. The alfajores (cookies with caramel inside and powdered sugar) were very good. She was out of arepas so we'll have to come back and try those and other sandwiches. What a cute little place! Such a cute little place! I have visited a few times and my absolute favorite is the beef empanada. I was there over the weekend with my family and my husband had the cuban and loved it. They also had guava & cheese tequenos that I'm still dreaming about. The space is small, but there's plenty of seating. It's definitely a spot where you could get a coffee and just sit for a while. They have a few outdoor tables as well surrounded by some beautiful flowers. I think it's worth a trip out to Glenshaw to check this place out. read more

I stopped by here by myself yesterday at a little after 11. Tu y Yo cafe is located in a plaza off of Harts Run Rd and was easy to find with my GPS. The shop itself is cute with a seating area with multiple high top tables, a couple of shelves with different wares for sale and then an area to order. Their menus were along the wall behind the area to order and I was pleased to see that they had arepas in addition to the empanadas and coffee which I already knew that they had. On the day that I was there they had 3 people working behind the counter with the main lady (the owner perhaps?) being quite nice. For lunch on this day I ended up purchasing a beef empanada, a vegetarian empanada (plantain on this day) and then a Sifrina arepa. The menu described the Sifrina as shredded chicken, Gouda and avocado on an arepa and it ended up looking like a sandwich. After collecting my items I headed home to share my bounty with my wife. The first item from the above that I tasted was the beef empanada. It had some fancy crimping where it was sealed shut and was filled to the brim. I ended up enjoying both the dough and the filling on this one. After finishing that one I next tried the vegetarian empanada. I really enjoyed this one, much more so than the beef. The plantain filling was sweet but it was balanced out by a cheese that was added which I thought tasted like Parmesan but could have been something else. Anyways, that made it both sweet and savory and I thought it tasted absolutely delicious! Last but not least was the arepa which was tasty as well. I enjoyed both the cheese and avocado on it but it was really the chicken that was the star for me. It was seasoned perfectly and amazingly flavorful. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Such a cute little cafe! My daughter and I stopped by to get a snack before dinner. She got the chocolate toddy drink and finished it before we got home. We also picked up a biscotti. I love that there are non-dairy options for the coffee. I had a non-dairy cortadito. It was a little sweet for me but I'm definitely going to try it or another one of the drinks again but maybe ask for it to be a little less sweet. Absolutely amazing food and highly reasonable prices! This place is relatively new, but it is some of the best Latin American food I have ever had, even though I didn't order much. It is also family owned and the atmosphere is very cozy. I ordered the tequeños with hazelnut chocolate spread and the cheese bread (pandebono). The portion of tequeños was more than adequate. These are the perfect sweet treats to satisfy your chocolate or hazelnut craving. The filling is similar to a thick Nutella, but significantly higher in quality. The dough is well made; perfectly crisp, with some softness inside. Reminds me a bit of pain au chocolat but with a very dense, nutty, chocolate center. It's filled to the brim with chocolate, too, and came out perfectly warm. I have never tried this variety of cheese bread, but it is now one of my go-to Latin American breads. It's chewy from the yucca, which makes for a great texture. You can definitely taste the cheese, too. Great side order, and an awesome size for the price! I must also comment on the customer service: it was some of the best I've had in a while. The ladies running the restaurant are very friendly and insightful. The service here was more personable and individualized than at even upscale restaurants. Overall, I will undoubtedly return to Tu y Yo. I love that there is a Latin American cafe near Glenshaw, and the owners are amazing people. Their food is excellent, prices are great, and portions are perfect. Can't wait to reorder the food I had today, and also try out their empanadas as well as other desserts, like tres leches. read more

After sipping the beverage in the car, I went back in to the cafe to tell my amigo server how tasty it was and that I would be back.
