Everything was explained in detail and I was informed on what is needed and what would be preventative including a service plan. I know that it would likely be in my best interest but since we are selling our property in the near future I explained why I didn't want one. The company went over and above to accommodate me with an issue with the troubleshooting charge and completed to get my business. The tech was very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail. In the course of talking to 3 people, I was aggressively solicited to their annual plan SEVEN times. If I don't know you, and I don't know what your work is like, I'm not commiting to any annual plan. This was sometime last year when I tried their services and yes, they did as asked, but I would not call it budget friendly but maybe something short of harassment and some things I thought might be obvious, weren't. They could have great technicians but they are so focused on the hard sell, you're left just feeling exploited. Even with making my feelings known right to their faces (anyone who answered the phone, both techniciabs they sent) about how I will gladly make sure I complain to at least 3 people for each time I had to listen to a sales pitch, so 21?....I still have six voicemails since wanting to "earn my business"? I went to a home with insufficient cooling that Childers Heating and Cooling had been to last year…read more The service ticket from Childers called for replacing an evaporator coil, metering device, vacuum, and recharging for $2600 under Trane warranty. The first observation was caps for the service ports were missing. The second observation was the suction line was too cool. Third observation was the compressor did not sound correct. With gauges on the service ports there was no Super Heat, 2 degrees of subcooling, and 44 degree suction line. Went to check the evaporator and there was no TXV present (Trane calls for a TXV/metering device). Maybe the technician replaced the TXV with piston that was too large. After pulling the refrigerant into the condenser, the piston was checked. Well, there was no piston at all. Explains all of the symptoms and poor performance. A TXV was added back to the system and is performing well. Hopefully, the compressor is not damaged. I do not understand how a technician could have done such a poor job.
