I went to a home with insufficient cooling that Childers Heating and Cooling had been to last year…read more The service ticket from Childers called for replacing an evaporator coil, metering device, vacuum, and recharging for $2600 under Trane warranty. The first observation was caps for the service ports were missing. The second observation was the suction line was too cool. Third observation was the compressor did not sound correct. With gauges on the service ports there was no Super Heat, 2 degrees of subcooling, and 44 degree suction line. Went to check the evaporator and there was no TXV present (Trane calls for a TXV/metering device). Maybe the technician replaced the TXV with piston that was too large. After pulling the refrigerant into the condenser, the piston was checked. Well, there was no piston at all. Explains all of the symptoms and poor performance. A TXV was added back to the system and is performing well. Hopefully, the compressor is not damaged. I do not understand how a technician could have done such a poor job.

So new to the area I googled around and found yelp again ! I also educated myself , and did some trouble shooting on the unit . My first choice was Yuri and he was quick to answer the phone. I gave him some detail on the situation and he was available sooner than later. He arrived at the given time and also texted that he was on his way. He diagnosed the unit and it all made sense to me. The cost was fair and he did a great job ! The unit is working at optimum  and I will use him in the future for maintenance. He said the unit should work for 14 years with good maintenance and my attention to change the filters.

Proceed With Extreme Caution…read more I filed a claim with my home warranty company on January 31st due to my downstairs heat not working properly during extremely cold weather. RC Heating and Air was dispatched and came out on February 3rd. At the time of the visit, I explained clearly that: * The unit would blow heat only when outside temperatures rose * Once temperatures dropped below 20 degrees, the unit stopped pushing heat entirely * Multiple neighbors were experiencing similar cold-weather HVAC issues After RC Heating and Air assessed the unit, I was given a quote showing $1,400 in out-of-pocket costs for items supposedly not covered by my home warranty (the warranty company was covering a control panel and labor, which oddly were not listed in RC's quote). Here's where things went downhill fast. After RC Heating and Air's visit, the unit stopped working altogether. Before they came, the heat would at least kick on during warmer parts of the day. After their visit? No heat at all. Period. I called RC Heating and Air to ask if repairs could be done in phases, especially since we were in the middle of freezing temperatures, ice, and snow. I was told no--that all parts had to be purchased at once and that I had to pay the entire $1,400 upfront. I asked for one day to think about it. The very next day, I received a voicemail stating that if I didn't respond by the end of the day, my file would be closed. This was incredibly frustrating, especially since my home warranty company explicitly told me there was no rush and that I was entitled to seek a second opinion. The pressure tactics alone didn't sit right with me--so I trusted my gut and got another HVAC company involved. Best decision I made. The second technician reviewed RC's findings and immediately discovered that a component had been unplugged in the attic, which prevented the unit from coming on at all. Once that piece was plugged back in, the system fired right up and worked perfectly. No $1,400 repair. No additional parts. No issues. Just integrity and honesty--something RC Heating and Air clearly lacked in this situation. I don't know how a "professional" HVAC assessment misses (or causes) something that simple, but I do know this: my unit worked worse after they touched it, and the unnecessary pressure to pay thousands of dollars during a winter storm was unacceptable. If you value honesty, transparency, and ethical service--RUN from this company. Thank God for contractors who actually know what they're doing and operate with integrity.

Said they had to fix a "sensor" but the AC was working perfectly until they started messing with it again for absolutely no reason without even telling us. 1 week later, without much communication they FINALLY came back out to fix the problem that they caused for absolutely no reason.
