We stumbled across this place and it was fantastic. It is a small place and easy to miss but GPS took us right there. The staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable. What a gem! I went base off a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. From the outside I wasn't sure what to expect but when I went in... I automatically got excited. Small but mighty is the best way I can describe it. It's a small spot but they do a great job using the space. It's not just seafood! There are a ton of local items plus a great selection of tin fish. Not to mention a section with house-made items such as kimchi rice and smoked fish. The items vary from day to day. So happy this local shop is here! You walk into an inviting cozy space, that greets you with with a welcoming staff and a smell of ocean freshness, a cucumber water kind of smell. Crazy Fresh! The selection was impressive with fresh seafood, prepared dishes and a stunning selection of premium canned seafood. Along with a delightful selection of other local and specialty goods. We ended up with some peal and eat shrimp and a fillet of rockfish to cook. My son also loved the apple cider and we are looking forward to the farm fresh eggs tomorrow morning. Boutique seafood. Price is significantly higher than other sources but you get what you pay for. They offer custom smoked fish based on availability. They had salmon, bluefish and lake trout that looked picture perfect. Store made salads and dips were available. Product offerings will vary but product information nor pricing is offered on line. I had to go on site to checkout the program. They have an interesting assortment of frozen entrees but how would you know unless you make an on sight visit. I'm giving Tuckahoe Seafood five stars because they have been doing this for 50 years in that same spot! I have only been once (I will go back for sure), but I found the fish selection well-curated. It's not a huge counter of offerings, but what they have is fresh. They also pride themselves on having provisions of pasta, bread, etc. I tried the bacon jam, which was delicious. My chef son-in-law, mixed it with collard greens for a big wow factor. The Clam Chowder was a miss. It didn't have much flavor and we didn't bother finishing it. BUT the cooked shrimps were fresh and I couldn't stop eating them and was reluctant to share. They have a small parking lot but there always seems to be space ( I drive by a lot!). I will go back soon... I'm going to make paella soon and Tuckahoe is now my seafood store. read more

As a first time sushi maker, I wanted to get salmon for my sushi. I had to make sure I was getting my salmon from a seafood market and to make sure it was sushi/sashimi grade. I stopped in here due to the good reviews and figured it was worth a shot to try. I first made sure the salmon was sushi grade before I checked out the prices. When the guy behind the counter assured me it was, I found out the price was actually pretty cheap. $15 for a pound of salmon! I got just a bit over a pound for the price of a pound and got it all wrapped up and ready to go. I noticed the skin was still on the salmon so I asked if the guy behind the counter could take the skin for me and he was nice enough to do it. That really helped me out because skinning a fish is extremely difficult. I checked out the price of tuna but it was insane. $23 a pound! I would come back because I had no issues with my fresh salmon and the guy there was nice. read more

Disappointing selection of seafood choices and way overpriced for the lackluster quality. I stopped here twice. On my first visit, I was not impressed with the quality or the quantity for the price. But, I figured they were just having a bad day. I returned about a month later. Same situation. Poor selection and extremely expensive for the quality and quantity. My wife picked up 6 live lobsters 3 hours ago already bagged up for Christmas dinner tomorrow. She mentioned to me they told her to keep newspaper wet on top of the lobsters in the fridge and that she never actually looked at the lobster before leaving. I thought that sounded strange as I've purchased live lobsters before and had no past issues keeping alive for 24 hours. I decided to check the lobsters and sure enough two were dead. Hopefully they will reimburse and will gladly update yelp review when I call Wednesday. For now need to figure out what to do for dinner. read more

This is great place to buy seafood and it is always fresh! They have a great selection which allows you to choose what you want to buy. The store is clean and organized. Not only do they sell seafood, but they also sell other local products such as smoked pimento cheese (which is delicious). Their employees are great and are very helpful. They are also very friendly and have great customer service skills. Thayer also give tips on how to cook a certain type of seafood if you want to know how to. The prices can get a bit expensive, but for the quality of the seafood it is worth it. Some products are also cheaper than others. The best part of this store is that their seafood is fresh which doesn't cause the store to smell bad. I highly recommend this store if you have a craving to have some seafood. read more

I recently started making sushi I went by the shop to ask if they handle sushi grade fish. The man behind the counter was very helpful and explained that they had number 1 grade tuna and also that a local individual who taught a sushi class used they're salmon in his class. They explained the safe handling of the fish for sushi by freezing to kill parasites if it was done before. I'm will be a repeat customer for sure. read more

I love this fish market! It's a failure on my part that I don't go more often. The service has always been welcoming and knowledgable. It's become our go to spot for whole, dressed trout and for trying something new. I've become a huge fan of Arctic char as a result, picking it over sockeye salmon when it's available. As a general rule, I don't buy many things prepared from anywhere, but today I noticed the "candied salmon" in the case and decided to give this a try. Well, the term "customer experience" is a little bit of a stretch. I didn't feel like a customer when I went there, I felt like an unwelcome intruder. The young man who served me emerged from the kitchen with a scowl and a machete, both of which were clearly visible to me. If you are looking for freshly steamed crabs and the truth from employees, do not go here. I called in advance and asked if they had steamed crabs that were steamed today, and they said yes. Second question was are they number 1 jimmi's which is the large male crab, once again they said yes. I picked up my order, got home the size was small to medium , female and male crabs and so dry I could not eat. They must have been a week old. I paid 20.50 for six that I had to throw away.
