The Family boil came with 4 pounds of shellfish - 1lbs of snow crab, 1lbs of dungeness, and 1lbs of both shrimp and crawfish. The great thing here was you could mix and match - since we weren't huge fans of crawfish we could get more shrimp instead. All the seafood was fresh, with meat that was plump and sweet. The seasoning was flavorful with heat and Cajun spices. And there was ample butter. The boil came in at $80 which felt more than reasonable. The service was on point, with helpful waitstaff that were able to guide us through decision making. And the interior had a nautical theme that fit with the menu without being overly tacky. We ordered the 71.99 platter from Live Crawfish for Mother's Day for pick up to eat at home, along with a half dozen of blue crabs. We also added clams to the platter so after tip our total was a little over $130. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I've always loved this place and recommend it to anyone looking for good, fresh seafood in the area. The entire tray of blue crab were mushy and inedible. We got dungeness and snow crab as well. I didn't get a chance to taste the snow crab but the dungeness was also mushy. The crawfish were great and so were the clams and shrimp. But to spend that much money to not be able to eat majority of the food is ridiculous. I won't be coming back or recommending live crawfish for awhile. read more

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that I wish it was more spicy and a little less salty. For the highest spice level available, I was expecting at least a little more kick. We came here on July 3rd for my boyfriend's birthday, and he was in heaven. Their boil is very good. Service was super fast for us, they got our beers to us in no time. It is Richmond so you need to keep that in mind with seafood quality and price, but I thought it was great! The amount of shrimp we got in our boil was amazing, and heavenly with potatoes and sausage. I love hole-in-the-wall tacky cheap décor, so the star deduction isn't for the bright red walls or dark dining area, but for the bathroom. Just don't go there, and enjoy the crab legs! read more

From the moment we stepped through the door it was the most amazing experience. We were immediately warmly greeted and the service just continued to get better and better. The owners are simply awesome! The menu is straight forward and filled with delicious fresh options to satisfy any seafood lover. We ordered the Calamari, Crawfish Po Boy, a "bucket" which is actually a very large pan filled with up to 4 different types of fresh seafood that you can choose from the menu. We had Green Mussels, lobster tail, snow crab, shrimp, potatoes, corn, hush puppies and some ridiculously good Cajun seasoned fries. The food was cooked to perfection and seasoned excellently. It was presented well in a wonderfully delicious New Orleans seasoned garlic butter sauce that was phenomenal! We then finished the meal with some hot fresh beignets covered in confectioners sugar....YUM!!! The space is warm, inviting, the tables are spacious and there isn't one thing about this place that isn't awesome. We will definitely be coming back as often as we can. I couldn't be happier with the location of this place because its literally right around the corner from my house. There just aren't enough seafood spots in the west end. But thankfully.. this one is close and the food is good. I ordered a catfish platter, it was 2 pieces and one side. As mentioned I asked for sweet potato fries, they tasted okay, no salt at all and were too soft so that was a turn off for me. I ended up throwing most away. but that fish... yes.. that fish.. it was good. That left nothing to be desired for me except I wish I had more. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly.
