The deli itself is great, and makes a lot of awesome sandwiches for decent prices. As I said, I don't like the weird upcharges for certain ingredients, but so be it. It makes the prices of a sandwich soar from decent to ridiculous. The sandwiches aren't altogether authentic Italian NY-NJ style, but they are very good. I loved the parts of it that I had fresh, however when I had the rest of the sandwich a little later it had gotten extremely squidgy and soggy because they use a regular loaf of bread rather than anythng hard or Italian. Again, makes it less authentic but still very tasty. Despite these remarks, I haven't had a sandwich this good in the Richmond area before, so you should give it a try. And if it were Niche Produce, then they'd only sell unusual and hard to get hipster vegetables and sandwiches. Whereas if it wer Nix Produce, it would close down soon. And if it were Knickers Produce then I would have torn them down a lot more quickly and intensely than I did in this review.

It's curated without being precious. I came for lunch and got a pastrami sandwich that I'm still thinking about. Thick like a textbook, moist, flavorful. I don't think I've ever actually had real pastrami until that sandwich. My only real critique is the location. It sits along Broad Street near Willow Lawn and it's one of those places you drive past a dozen times without ever stopping. Slightly hard to access, easy to overlook. That's a shame because this isn't a casual grab-and-go -- it's a destination, even if the vibe is completely unpretentious. A friend suggested it and it made my day. The Greek radio station playing nothing but 80s and 90s covers of songs I grew up with didn't hurt either. Next time I'm not trying to make just one meal of it.

Please note, when u pull into the strip, if your looking for the restaurant, its @ the far left of center... the big place @ right is only a bodega. As typical of all taco stops reviewed thus far... the staff are very welcoming & seems to have 1 person on staff who speaks very good English. Tacos are very good looking, with white corn tortillas. Fixings that come with are a good Verde salsa & a Pico de galo. The beef is seasoned/ marinated nicely & not too greasy. The meat is then mixed with roasted to perfection sweet onion... & mind you I really loath onions other than as seasoning ... for most I'm sure these onions will really make the taco The menu, like the joint down the street, is extensive & has lots of things I'm sure to try at some other point... but for now... you guessed it, its gonna be Carne Asada tacos (beef strips). This place is a bit different than others I've visited in that it appears to possibly have a bar/late night crowd. Complete with flat screens hanging from angle iron strips (I guess they didn't know there is such thing as a TV mount), a projection video system & live sound PA... I'm sure this is as close as RVA is getting to a seedy Mexican Canteena. Loaded with pictures of the dishes & drink options, you might 1st think you wandered into a Chinese food joint but I can assure you their skin is brown. So as for the taco scale, gotta say, this place is close to the top but with only checking out 3 dumps thus far... I'm still reserving opinion. The only thing I'll give you is they are much better tasting (based on 1 visit) than Taqueria Panchito across the street... The fact you don't have to cross 6 lanes of dangerous traffic to get the the strip joint also adds a point to the score.

i seen the biggest rat (today 8:15 am) come running out of the produce section across to the 2nd…read moreaisle !!!!! do not eat from this store !!!! size of a rabbit with a big long thick tail. i wish i could have got a picture but i was too disgusted and squeamish... i told the lady at the register she looked at me and said nothing the first time i said it and pointed to the direction . she didnt look surprised and asked where .... he's so big i know he's eating on something in that store of course he's in all you guys sugar . yuck !!!! i can still see the rat i've never had this experience... shut it down and maybe go to save a lot, food lion or kroger !!!! do not get your food from here please .
