We stayed here on a Thursday night. We came in just after sunset so it was dark. Lighting is terrible. Also it was pretty empty and they put us right next to someone knowing we had 4 slides. The electrical and water are for 2 spaces together. The water is on the same faucet with a so called splitter. Old unused electrical above on pole hanging exposed. Picnic table falling apart - we had to move it because it was hanging in the space when we went to pull in. Over priced as well. We stayed at 6 other KOA's that were all much nicer and all were $25 to $30 less. Also there's no way to connect your coach to WiFi as those system is antiquated. Skip this KOA. read more

This KOA had great accommodations!! You could order breakfast, which was delivered to your vehicle. They have showers, picnic tables, and grass to walk your dogs. We have a 42ft RV plus our truck length. It was a pull through, which made it easy when staying one night and not wanting to unhook. The highway access was close, so we just pulled out and were on our way to the next KOA. read more

We try to go to KOA campgrounds because they have the most convenient app for getting a reservation online if you want. There is always a late check in and your paperwork is usually located on the front porch of the KOA building. Last night we checked in about 10:30 and we were traveling all day from Flagstaff Az to Tucumcari NM. Our paperwork was waiting for us and we had a full hookup site with Cable TV. This is a KOA Journey and is was right off I-40 and so convenient to get to. This morning we were able to order breakfast which was quite reasonable. It was the first time we ate outside in 17 days! This stay was okay. I really appreciated the texts we got from the KOA, giving us directions and sending over the breakfast menu. That was a nice touch! Great, old-fashioned playground. My kids loved playing on it until the sun went down. I wish they could've gotten a train ride, but no biggie. Everything was older, but clean. The tent sites are the sites closest to the freeway, which was a bummer. I saw reviews that said you can't hear the freeway traffic, but that must've been from further non-tent sites. It was pretty loud from inside our tent. Our site also had a very bright light on over the top of our tent all night. That's in addition to the freeway lights. I'm glad I brought a sleep mask. read more

Great spot, Got right in and set up. They serve meals right to your site from a menu with enough choices for adult and kids which made eating easy. Playground for kids could use some work but overall enjoyed the stay. Would recommend to anyone passing through. read more

After a long day driving we arrived at Koa in Tucumcari NM. we received our spot assignment and when we drove to it we realized that the coach next to us was extra large and when we opened our slides we would have hit the next coach. Rather than bother the coach already there we went back to office to ask to be put on the opposite side where there's a bit more room to open. The owner that was running the office gave us attitude and actually brought a tape measure and went to go measure what my husband was telling him. He was reluctant to accommodate us saying his park was fully booked for that night and he had nothing else for us. When my husband insisted and after he measured to see that we were right about the sizing he tried to complain about the reservation we made and the length of our equipment on the reservation. The owner finally relented to give us another spot. When we left in the morning what he claimed was a fully booked parked was only 60% occupied. We will definitely be sure to change our route so we don't need to stop here again. This is the first KOA campground in 20 plus years that has been this rude. read more

This place was a pit stop we had on our trip across I-40. We usually stay at KOA's and have the membership and didn't think any of them were actually bad. We had previously stayed at 8 other KOA's all over and this one was by far the worst. The people were very rude in the shop, not very friendly, requiring masks still (April 2022) when every place we've been during our trip in April 2022 didn't require masks. Even the rude comment made about us not even having masks, and wouldn't provide them if they require them. The sites were all dirt and none of them groomed or raked prior to arrival most of the other (DG, gravel, dirt) sites always have them nicely raked when we arrive. We walked around the park and the playground was all original it looked like, and not up-to-date at all. My 9 yr old son didn't really like it (metal slide in the hot sun). Some of the sites had these wooden shade coverings and they were super old and falling apart. Just overall bad experience. Recommendations for this place - need to remodel the bathroom, new playground, take better care of the grounds. Even our site didn't have sewer. read more

We travel. A lot. This KOA was so hospitable. What a wonderful couple that owns this place. They are new owners if you didn't know. The bathrooms were spotless and the BBQs were CLEAN! Dog park is well maintained. AND A POOL! We did NOT have any problems. I recommend this campsite to anyone. short term or long term. John, one of the owners even stopped by in his go go cart. Stay 13 Sep 2022 26' Travel Trailer with one slideout.. 2 small dogs. Check-in was good, no reservation and was easily accommodated. I believe the price was a little high for the area but didn't want to drive any further and I prefer KOA. Very nice person at the front desk who made check-in very easy. Oh, and they have warm cookies waiting for you. Easily found my spot. Well graded and level with hookups easily accessed. As I set up I was surprised to find that someone had left behind a weed pipe at the site but, as management said when I told them about it, they aren't responsible for stuff like that. Being single (no kids) it wasn't a huge deal and I just tossed it in the trash. The surrounding campsites were nice as well but there is a lot of easy maintenance that could be done to make the place look a little nicer. It's not trashy just overgrown in a lot of areas with a need for a little TLC. It's no big deal and I was told the owners were new and are working on it and I'm looking forward to seeing the improvements on my next trip. One small dog area but a lot of open space to walk your pups. I didn't see any bag dispensers around the park (may have overlooked them) so I'd suggest carrying some. I prefer to use my own bathroom so I can't provide any info on the facilities and I did not make use of the laundry area. On top of the cookies at check in, they offer breakfast menu with the option of having it delivered to your site. Nice touch. Overall, it's an okay KOA. Quiet and easy going but a little pricey for the area and I believe there's a need to spruce things up a little. read more

We stopped for an overnight stay and it was great. The staff were friendly and the bathroom/showers were very clean and well maintained. My only complaint is that there should be a couple of little trash cans for throwing away dog poop and such, but that's a minor thing. Overall is was a pleasant stay. read more

As others have said this is a dated property however the office personnel were pleasant, the bathrooms were clean and the camp was well maintained. The pool was very clean. It's a nice travel stop over not a destination resort so enjoy the travel break accept it for what it is. read more

We had reservations for two spots and three nights. We had to cancel one due to surgery. We were still charged for our spot one night and our friends arrived only to find they were only good for one night. They were not allowed to check in one hour early and were treated like a problem, not a customer. Will never book this spot again. read more

I'd like to be able to give this place more stars, but the bathroom/shower facility really killed that idea. We're moving cross-country, and wanted quick and easy places to stay. Had planned on tenting, but huge thunderstorms the last two days had us upgrading to cabins. The spot we stayed last night, in AZ, had really nice bathroom facilities - individual, lockable rooms, not community stalls. Those were very clean and well maintained. Since we'd never stayed at KOAs before, we thought they'd all be like that. We were wrong. The bath house near us here looks like something out of a horror movie - grungy, old, run-down, and stall style. Another camper who came in and saw us looking said the ones near the front of the grounds were even worse. Planning to just get up and go tomorrow, skipping the showers. Hope we don't smell too bad after our ten hour drive. The grounds themselves seem nice, and our cabin is cozy, with AC (temp dial is broken so not very effective), there's a TV (the promised cable stations don't work), and the food you can have brought to your cabin is pricey and not very good. Front desk staff seemed nice. Not an issue cause we won't be back this way, but I doubt we'd stay here again if we did. read more

This KOA is not tent friendly. They charge $32 for subpar facilities. The tent area is right by the loud highway. Our tent, we realized too late, was situated right outside a bright (like the sun) light. Also, we spent 3 hours inside their stuffy (hot, dusty, no a.c.) "rec" room where you had to pay for all the outdated games (Elvira, really?) during a bad lightening storm. Don't expect any food to be included in the hefty price either. And please, KOA, get some new picnic tables! I don't like prying splinters out of my kids hands. The employees were very polite and friendly and there is a pool. read more

I arrived after hours and deducted my 10% KOA discount. The posted price was $42 minus the 10% discount it was $37.80. I paid in cash and put the money in the box. While I was feeding my dog someone drove up. The dog went over. A man named Lane told me the price was already discounted. It was the same price for everyone. I told him I had paid $30 to KOA to get a discount. I went to the KOA camp to get a discount. Now Lane, the owner wasn't giving me a discount. I asked for my money back. While I was packing up he drove back and parked. I guess to see if I was really leaving. For a few bucks Lane, lost my business. His campground wasn't full anyway. His making an issue out of it meant he didn't get any money. read more

This was one of the worst campgrounds I have been to that probably has the most potential to be great. Frankly, the guy running the place seems burned out. Campground facilities were ok, not great, but adequate for a one night stay. The owners were less than friendly. My boys were enjoying the pool and playing very nicely with some other children, I was was sitting poolside watching. One of the owners came out of the office and yelled at each boy to get out of the pool, then stomped off with no explanation. I went to the office and calmly asked what the problem was. I was told that they kids had been diving into the pool and that was not allowed and that there were posted signs saying "No Diving." I replied that I had not seen them diving. He responded that they were doing flips into the pool and that was the same as diving and that the boys could not swim anymore that day. I apologized that we had broken a rule and said we had done it unintentionally. The man was very rude, kept telling me we had broken the rules. I continued to apologize. He finally said that we could swim until 7pm and then he was kicking us out, adding that he would normally let us swim longer, then slammed the office window in my face. At 7pm when one of the owners came to lock up the pool, I had my 9 year old son go apologize for breaking the rule. The response was a continued lecture. I finally said, "yes, he understands he broke the rule" and we walked off. It took courage for a 9 year old to apologize to an adult and to have the response be an another rant was disappointing. I agree with another reviewer the owners are tired and worn out. We did not go in the restrooms. The office had a small store with useful items. read more

Absolutely wonderful time. Spent 4 nights there in mid Feb. The park was spotless and the folks were some of the friendliest we've encountered. We traveled over 15k miles last year and this was one of our FAVORITE campgrounds. Wide sites, great views, quiet, large playground (seasonal pool). I stayed for one night at this lovely KOA. The staff was fabulous, the site was level, the showers were clean with great water pressure, and the cafe food was great. They have two small dog runs in a shaded area and plenty of places to walk around with my dog (FYI-poop bags and disposal cans only at the dog area). I enjoyed my stay. read more

This rv park has a lot of potential but it is looking a little sad. Picnic tables and wind breaks are run down and need repair and paint. Grass is over grown in places and there are tarantulas. I was assured that they would not hurt me but it was still unnerving. I worried about our dog in the grass. No way would I put our dog in the dog park. Tall grass. This is a typical KOA Campground with full hook-ups, 30 & 50 amp, free cable TV (with both Amarillo & Albuquerque channels) & big rig sites. There is a restaurant with RV site delivery, but we did not try the fare. There is a nice pool and laundry facilities. As is usual for KOA Campgrounds, it is pricey for what it is. Most of the RV spaces are gravel. It does have easy access to I-40. Not much in the way of eye appeal. read more

Warning to dog owners staying in Kabin 2, turn in the stained, microfiber sheets when you check out or you may be accused of stealing them. We checked in on the night of Jan 3rd, left morning of Jan 4th on our way to Missouri on I-40. Campground owners called us in Amarillo and said they were missing the sheets that they have in the cabin to put on the cloth mattress covers before letting dogs on the bed. This is one fitted twin microfiber sheet that fits the bottom bunk, and a twin flat sheet with yellow stains that is supposed to go on the double bed but isn't big enough to tuck in around the mattress. We were flabbergasted and told them the sheets were in the cabin when we left. They said their son had cleaned the cabin and said they weren't there, and he said the bottom bunk was "covered in dog hair". If they would have said the double, it would have been understandable because, as said, the sheet wasn't big enough to tuck in around the mattress. But we put the sheets on before we even brought the dogs into the cabin, so there was no way there was dog hair on the bottom bunk, at least not our dogs' hair. The owners apparently didn't believe we hadn't taken their sheets and said we'd be invoiced for them. My husband, just to be polite, said "Well, if we find them when we get home we'll definitely send them back" and the owner said, "Oh, you'll find them". A few hours later we're at a Walmart in Yukon, OK. Guess who calls? Tucumcari KOA. They found the sheets, but they say they found them in the dryer from the day before, so they "have both sets". What? There's no way our sheets were in the dryer from the day before so this makes no sense whatsoever. The owner says "We won't be invoicing you". Well, GEE, ya think? Since we never took your sheets?? They offered NO APOLOGY. So dog owners, be aware. Be sure to check for existing dog hair on the mattress cover (shouldn't these be taken off and laundered between customers?) and alert the owners if found, and be sure to take the dog sheets up and turn them in when you check out and get a receipt. TL;DR - Owners accused us of stealing stained microfiber dog sheets, never apologized when they found sheets some hours later, take sheets to checkout to be sure you don't get the same treatment. read more
