Staff is very professional and friendly, always making sure everyone is having a good time. Honestly, all the food is great here but some of my favorites are definitely the carpaccio and calamari appetizer (the calamari is the BEST I ever had, hands down) and their coffee panacota for dessert is also out of this world, just amazing! If you are a bread lover just know they make their own bread in house. 5 stars always!

For appetizers, we got zucchini chips, fried calamari and mussels. The calamari was fried too hard and it had a very salty, spicy Chilean type sauce over it. The zucchini chips were thinly sliced, lightly battered with Parmesan cheese sprinkled over them. They were decent but nothing to write home about. In fact, after having about six or seven of the zucchini chips I began to experience heartburn from the grease. For entrees, my husband had the chicken parm. He said it was too thick and should have been flattened more before frying. It was also very breaded. My brother-in-law ordered the chicken and waffles and he said the chicken tasted day old so after having a bite of one piece of the chicken he pushed the chicken aside and called it a day. I called the waiter over and informed him about the chicken tasting day old. He didn't try to change it out or take it off the bill or get a manager. He just apologized by saying I'm sorry. My crab Mac and Cheese was decent. It wasn't seasoned the way I would have liked but the huge, plentiful chunks of crab made up for that. I ate a third of my dish and packed the rest for home where I will doctor it up to my taste. I've never been to this particular restaurant before. The only reason we came today is because my brother-in-law was here on business and staying at a hotel in the area.

NOT PATA NEGRA !!! Buyer beware !!!…read more It looks like a very nice butcher shop in the Ironbound section of Newark, but based on a Google Search and the Yelp reviews, I came for "Pata Negra" Iberico Ham, from Spain. What they carry is a Portuguese Pig, raised in New Jersey, with a label of "Pata Negra" hung on the pig's leg. $499.00 per pound !!! First of all, "Pata Negra" refers to 0.1% of a particular Spanish Iberico Ham, which was not even exported outside of Spain until just a few years ago. Apparently, one can now purchase a pig (from Portugal, not even from Spain) that can be called "Pata Negra" and sell it for three times the cost of authentic Spanish Iberico "Pata Negra" Ham from a legitimate importer (about $1500.00 for a 7 lb ham from several companies which can be found on the Internet). I also asked the butcher about purchasing some Spanish Iberico Ham de Bellota, of which the boneless ham can be sliced, paper-thin, on a slicer, to compare with the hand-sliced ham that this butcher offered. He had NO IDEA what I was talking about. Come on !!! I tried the "Pata Negra" offered at this butcher. $55.00 for about 10 little, one inch pieces sliced from the leg. It was not even close to the buttery flavor and texture of authentic Jamon Iberico de Bellota that I have had in Spain and the USA. So, don't be fooled into paying such a ridiculous price for this "NOT PATA NEGRA" ham sold by this butcher shop. You can get the real thing, imported from Spain, for a fraction of the price.

I also really like their coffee. Always my go to spot if I have an early morning flight or just a caffeine pick me up during the day. My only complaint, like most places at Newark is the prices. Very difficult to get anything of substance below $10.

I was early for my 755pm flight back to IAD, given the tsa issue but got through precheck quicker than expected, which then give me a chance to lounge a bit. Was not able to use United Club so... Let's get right to the low score--Worst of all, the bartender at this concourse A at EWR was almost hostile, unwelcoming... bar was not full i was using an extra stool for my purse when he came over touched my luggage and moved it behind my chair, then told hastily to take my bag off the extra stool next to my seat. Now realized he did not even greet me when I approached; thus, the unwelcoming behavior at the outset. He did not approach me nor look at my direction until almost a good 5 minutes later when i finally called him for service. Shame that it was centrally located along other bars/restaurants in A terminal but with this unfriendly attitude-even the two ladies sitting a few chairs on my left looked unhappy and almost hesitant as they were also told to keep their purses off the stools next to them. Gentleman to my right was alone and friendly and tried to engage me in a conversation but it felt awkward-it was simply a bad vibe. I took only a few bites of my turkey sandwich which was bland and overpriced for the quality $29, my brut was $22, so that over $50 stop was the worst layover drink/bite i've ever had. Luckily or unluckily, depending on which to look at it, my terminal switched back to C--and by the way had better options? maybe. At this point however, i've lost my appetite. Definitely one of the worst airport lounge experience..
