We went to this restaurant about 7:30 on a Saturday night. 4 tables occupied. My partner ordered the salad and said it was tasteless. I opted for the kale soup. What I received was a bowl of gelatinous white stuff with a few kale shreds floating in it. No seasoning. For our entrees, my partner ordered the chicken with garlic sauce. It was tasteless. I ordered pork chops with garlic sauce. It had the same thick brown gravy with a few pieces of sliced garlic in it. Again, tasteless. The mashed potatoes were runny. The fresh green beans were good. For dessert, I ordered the creme Brulee. Another disaster! It came out with a mushy sugar top that was clearly sitting too long, no crispy top. The creme tasted like those pudding snack cups for kids. The best thing was the white sangria. And the rolls on the table. That's the nicest thing I can say. This place gets a zero. read more

I had a discount coupon so discovered this place and decided to try it. I made reservations for 6:30pm. When I arrived I found parking on the street nearby. We were greeted at the door and decided to eat at the bar. For drinks I ordered the red sangria and it was very good. For entrées I got the boneless sirloin steak and my friend ordered the garlic chicken. We enjoyed both our meals. I could of done without the mashed potatoes becauase they were hard and had no flavor. My steak was cooked great and was tender. This place is fantastic. The food is out of this world, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is great. The staff is very friendly and very inviting, my experience was great and I enjoyed it very much. I definitely recommend this place for just about everyone that enjoys Portuguese and Spanish cuisines at a really good price and it's right off of route 1&9 which will take you to the parkway and turnpike really fast and be in the city in under 30 minutes (obviously depending on the day and what time). I've wanted to come here for a while because it has been recommended by a few people. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. I ordered the shrimp and steak kabobs with mashed potatoes and broccoli. It literally came with one broccoli crown. ONE. My date ordered grilled chicken and shrimp in garlic sauce but was saddened because it turned out to just be chicken marsala. Again, this meal also had ONE broccoli crown lol I didnappreicae that the chef didn't ass salt to my dish and the rice/chips were delicious. But the presentation was not what we expected and the chicken in garlic sauce turned marsala was definitely not a pro. I might be back again but maybe only to order out. As far as the atmosphere and service, the server Uri was incredibly sweet and nice! The restaurant was very quiet which is nice for a simple date/friend/family meal. If you want great food (4.5star) and perfect service (5 star), ask for Luis, Paulo or Sandra. They treat you like your a guest in their home. From the exterior, it is easy to overlook, but there is a nice ambiance inside, from the multilevel dining rooms lined with bottles of wine and big windows. There was a crowded bar on the side which had a seperate entrance. Started with the red sangria, a large pitcher with fruit, it was good and strong. The appetizer of cold octopus salad was delicious and tender in a simple vinaigrette. However, considering how big the portions were for the entries, we could have skipped this and still be full. I ordered the sirloin steak, but the waitress brought the skirt steak kebabs with large shrimp, which was slightly more expensive, but very tender. She apologized and offered to switch for what I ordered once the food arrived, but I didn't want to wait for another meal to come when I had one in front of me We also had the seafood stew in green sauce (CAZUELA DE MARISCOS). This came with half a lobster and plenty of small shrimp, tiny scallops, clams, and mussels in a garlic green sauce. Each entre came with either a small salad or seafood soup and a side of rice, homemade potato chips, and fresh tender vegetables. So this was an interesting place to visit. There's a small dining area and a bar where one can also sit and eat. I was excited to order the sangria... everyone on here is talking about the sangria. I was sad to watch her make it. It's mixed at the bar. As in, there's no early preparation like you'd expect a real sangria to have. I don't know why people cut corners, is it that hard, really? What this should be called, in reality, is a Long Island, sangria flavor. Yes, people it's a long island, made at the bar with liquors and juices. It's NOT sangria which are choice ingredients such as wine, brandy/whisky, cinnamon, fruit and other things that you let sit to develop flavor over time and then served. It tasted pretty good. I'm just saying it's not "sangria". My first course was an appetizer recommended by the bartender: a hot seafood and cheese dish. Why people say you can't have seafood with cheese - crazy talk! This was good! And I also ordered a side of broccoli rabe that had thinly sliced garlic and olives, it was really good, my favorite dish, heavy oil though. Second course was a chorizo sausage plate, I wanted some meat. This was also recommended but sadly, I did not like especially it. The chorizo had huge pieces of white, hard fat that I just could not stand to chew and swallow down. I think that is how it's supposed to be, I guess? But for me, it's just that I can't eat stuff like that - hard pieces of fat. Overall flavor was very salty and very vinegary. Even if the meat was leaner, that is a very tough dish to get through for one person or even two people given the potency of it. The place was decent and on Yelp 3 stars means "A-OK"! read more

Hard to find restaurants that actually make salted cod fish, mainly all places you get the fresh which is not the same. We have probably eaten at this restaurant at least 20 times, usually about twice a month. We have never had a bad experience here. The food and service has always been excellent. The prices are VERY reasonable. I think the most expensive thing on the menu is the filet Mignon for $26 but it is WELL worth it. It is a HUGE filet and is the best filet I have ever eaten in my life. Better than Bobby Flay or anywhere like that. There are also TONS of cheap options.. I recently had a chicken dish that was $13.95, which was a HUGE Portion and excellent. The garlic shrimp, fried calamari, sirloin steak, london broil, chicken dishes, they are all DELICIOUS. Show me where else I can get something that good for that cheap and I'll go there in a heartbeat. The Sangria is amazing..soooo good, recently learned their secret to it.. Sunny Delight instead of orange juice! We really enjoy Portuguese food and this is by FAR our favorite place to eat it. And we've been to all of the usual places in Iron Bound Newark, none of them compare to Europa. THOSE places are overpriced and not nearly as good on food OR service. This gem is hidden right in my neighborhood. Whether I get take out or dine in, the food is delicious!! My go to dish is Chicken in Garlic Sauce which comes with 3 pieces of chicken, mash potatoes and either brocolli, green beans or homemade chips depending on the day. Its an amazing dish. Its super simple and the garlic sauce is always on point. I have gotten the diff steaks before and they are always huge and juicy. This last time I went, we got oysters. Usually when I go the oysters are sold out so you can imagine how excited I was. These oysters were huge! They tasted so yummy too. I definitely recommend the oysters! I've only been here for lunch, but the food here is excellent and the service is great as well. Their stuffed salmon is absolutely phenomenal - fresh, MASSIVE, seasoned perfectly. There's a bar in the back and flat panel TVs all around the establishment showing - what else - the YES network! Score. A few parties had just finished their dessert and were about to leave - they looked real satisfied. We eagerly followed the host to our seats and quickly ran through the menu. After a round of Sagres Bohemia, excellent beer with frosted glasses for the dinner table touch, we ordered Baby Clams, which was an excellent dish. Light yet buttery and garlicky. The bread went very well with the left over sauce. We also ordered the baked chicken with prosciutto and cheese. The prosciutto was thick-cut, which gave the flavor an extra boost. Apparently, everything in Portuguese restaurants comes with rice and fries. We opted for the Spanish fries, which were basically thin-sliced chips. Very fresh and crispy. Europa is usually one of my favorite last stops before going home or to a diner after a night of getting Beered and Jacked. They are open until 3am, a lot of bars I go to close at 2am. So we can safely get an extra hour of hanging out here. During the dinner hours, they serve a variety of OK Portugese dishes. I have personally tried the mussels and garlic chicken. Not my favorite pollo but it feeds me. The prices on their entrees are a little on the high side for just aight food. So I try not to eat here unless I have to. I love Sangria. And when I want good Sangria I come to Europa. My girlies and I look to Sangria on nights we want to kick back and get a little loose without getting bombed. Eurpoa is located withing walking distance from my home which is another reason why I go. Would I have my dirty 30 party here? NO. It was not too strong on the alcohol and had some chopped up pieces of apple, pineapple and oranges inside. $12 for a small pitcher that serves 3. -The calamari was very flavorful and a good amount of crunch. We even ate all the lettuce. - To me, the paella was meh. Rice was a bit bland, but I'm comparing this to the best paella I've ever had in PR. There was lots of seafood inside, including a whole lobster. There was a heck of a lot tho. -Veal and mahi mahi were good. Tender and flavorful. -The casserole had a lot of stuff including shrimp, scallops and half a lobster in some tomatoey sauce. It was all great, but was never really a fan of tomato sauce. The scallops were great. Wõuld totally get this again for scallops. Lobster..was messy. Oh desserts. Had flan and cookies and creme. Flan was a bit tough. Was expecting softness, but still not bad. Have been going to Europa for awhile now. Food is always good and so is the service. The last two times we have been there we had a female server (don't know her name, but I believe she is the only female server there) and she is quite moody. One minute she is nice and the next nasty. Usually when we go, it's just my husband and myself and we have alcoholic beverages. The last time we went, besides the two of us, our two teenage daughters accompanied us. This time I had water and they had seltzer. First of all, this server didn't ask me if I wanted bottled or tap water and just brought a bottle. My husband and daughters went through their first round of seltzer and ordered another round. This server said she'll bring a pitcher for them. The pitcher was more than half ice, so they went through it quickly. She then asked if they wanted another pitcher and they said yes. When we got the bill, we were charged $32 for a bottle of water and the seltzer (carbonated water). I have been to other restaurants where they treat seltzer like water and do not charge for it. I wasn't expecting this, especially during a pandemic, but $32!?!?!? I wanted to complain, but my teenagers begged me not to. read more

As soon as you walk in the door, it's like a 180 from what the outside of the restaurant looks like. It is very elegant. This is the only reason why it received a 3 star rating instead of just 2. I came here with my boyfriend on a Thursday night around 7. As a previous review mentioned, the inside is much nicer/more formal than the outside of the restaurant depicts. There's a parking lot right next door that is reserved for the beauty salon, but the next building down has parking for Europa. There was no one else at the restaurant, so naturally the waiter was able to be very attentive, constantly refilling our water, etc. We were given bread and salad before our meal. We both ordered grilled skirt steak (on special for 16.95), which was very delicious and juicy. I barely had to move my knife to cut it. The steaks came with mashed potatoes (which tasted like instant), broccoli, fried potato chips, and yellow rice. It was a lot of tasty food with plenty left over.
